I watched Little Witch Academia, which is the result of a project meant to train new animators. It's generic if harmless, but everyone should watch it because damn, it's pretty.

I played shining force late and it hurt my enjoyment of it, along with it just being fire emblem but not as good. I tried one and ended up dropping it pretty quick. I liked II a lot for awhile, but it eventually wore me down and I stopped. If there were no random encounters I'm sure I'd have enjoyed the whole thing. It just annoyed the hell out of me getting into fights that had nothing to do with anything when I didn't need to level and I couldn't get out of them via resetting or using the hero's escape magic.
I did like that it had towns you could wander around in like a standard rpg. This gave you a breather between fights. And I liked that instead of going into a menu, selecting move and pointing at the panel you wanted a unit to move...you just moved them with the dpad. I don't understand why this isn't standard.
I played PS1 back when it came out. Really amazing game that blew DQ and FF1 out of the water. Not really playable now, but amazing for the 80s.
PS2 I only played briefly when it came out when a friend rented it. Disliked it at the time for the somewhat shallow reasons of it not pushing the genesis graphics like the first game pushed the master system and because no 3d dungeons. Playing it years later disliked it for the more reasonable reasons of it being grindy and bad.
PS4 on the other hand is excellent and holds up as well as any 16 bit rpg and I highly recommend it to anyone who isn't allergic to sprites.
Overall I'd put PS above SF pretty easily.

They added more to the original linked post. Okay, way more information (and some scans) have started popping up. This is... really... odd. Definitely a new direction for EO. The graphics and presentation looks the same, pretty much like EO4, except it no longer looks like a "create your own party from the start and just explore" dungeon crawler. Instead there's a main character who you can name (he is voiced in story scenes), and there's a full story where you meet other characters, and they join your party like a story RPG. All the characters appear to be voiced.
The storyline is based on EO1, but there are a ton of changes. The story starts with the main character running into a mysterious girl. The main character is a young man from the Highlands, doing some job for the guild office in Etria, and the girl he runs into is Frederica Irving, who appears to have lost her memory. Her character design has her holding a gun too.
So yeah, an EO1 remake with named characters, voice acting, and more focus on plot. Did anyone really ask for this? It's... somewhat interesting though I must say. It also means you no longer create classes for your party too, since all the party members are actual characters who have their own fixed classes. Hmm...

Caught up on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It is ridiculous and awesome, particularly when it gets to part 2. Joseph is pretty much what you get when you combine a hotblooded punk with Doctor Who. It's got it's share of still shots which a lot of people could view as the animators being cheap, but it's stylishly done enough that the 'watching a manga' style really works for me. Though for some reason I get more of a comic rather than manga vibe....maybe because everyone's built like they were drawn by Liefeld.
Also, I can't stop listening to Roundabout now.

I like that they made a callback to that blond girl you could use in the first two games with the lookalike in the Imperial class.
All four are callbacks. There's also a war magus, a medic, and a landshark. Or maybe more than just callbacks. I still need to go nab the game.
