Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Joss Whedon being sought for Sailor Moon

Well...I guess *if* I were to watch a sailor moon movie I'd want it to be one directed by Joss Whedon :P
Really though his time would be better spent making a Angel movie or original series' that get canceled before I even hear about them.

Really, it's just because you're the only 3 with PSPs :P Castlevania caught my eye in the headlines. Then...oh...it's on the PSP. Back to the topic. I don't care about sports, so I don't really care about sports games either. I care very little about racers that aren't mario kart. Maybe one now and then to mix things up, though I can't even remember the last one I played. No 3D platformer has been able to grab me since mario64. Action games I like, but I usually just rent the big name ones(And my favorite game of the last few years wasn't a RPG, but resident evil 4. Not really chock full of replay despite nice extras, but a amazing experience first time through). Your phoenix wrights, monkey islands and grim fandango's are great too, but they come around once in a blue moon. The rare case that you do see a text based game it usually looks all realistic and serious, which doesn't really fit into what I want out of them. FPS's I have nothing against, but I don't play them much. Goldeneye on the N64 and Half-Life are the only two to really own me. Now I wanted to play Half-Life 2. My PC however..did not.

There's TONS of reasons to not like the mega man series anymore. The two things that killed it for me personally though? One was playing through one of the games and collecting all the boss weapons...and they were all absolutely worthless. Niether effective or fun to use. Stealing boss powers was the best part of mega man games and nothing they gave me could compare to the dinky pea shooter.
The second thing was Zero. He's awesome and a badass. And a spotlight stealer. Never should have been a fully fleshed out selectable character, instead he should have got his own series sooner then he did.
Tenchu I don't think was ran into the ground so much as people just lost interest. Played one and two, and while you see obvious flaws, they were fun. 3 was enjoyable, but it was starting to get old. Then whenever I hear a new one's out I just don't really have any motivation to play it.
Last sonic game I played was the dreamcast one. Just didn't make the conversion to 3D well, though I'm biased against 3D platformers. Mario 64 wowed me. Then everything else just felt boring(I couldn't even get into psychonauts which everyone raved about. I liked the whole feel of the game...just not the game itself). Of course I don't have to have played shadow to laugh at how absolutely horrible the more 'xtreme' sonic concept is.
Tomb raider just gets a 'Wow they're STILL making those?' whenever another gets anounced. I mean, how can you kill a series nobody has played for ten years?

Now we just need midi's set to auto play embeded in people's sigs.
The fact that the board shows 15 posts instead of one at a time will make it even better than before!

This and some Phantasy Star 4 ones were the oldest I could find. I accidentally made it too fast, only to find out it was better that way. My all time favorite which I wanted to use in december-Super Metroids Ridley with a MSpaint santa hat is sadly long deleted ; ;
I suppose there's some old cowboy bebob avatars too. But CN replayed that so many times that even the most diehard fan stopped caring about it long ago. Well, everything except the soundtrack anyway. I'm going to go listen to Yoko Kanno now :P
Anyway, send in the Sephiroths.

motion sickness There used to be so many games I didn't get to enjoy..or got to enjoy, but regreted it later in the 90s because of motion sickness. Fortunantly though as technology got better it stoped. Once games started to be more fluid with less framerate issues it stopped being a problem. Half life I could play for hours. Doom, made me want to puke. In retrospect I wonder if it was motion sickness :P

I've just took a random adult education course in Japanese on a random impulse a few years ago. I really enjoyed it, and given the difficulty of the language that should tell you how little was actually taught. And even most of that's been forgoten and I'm back down to the 'Zomg kawaii neko-chan sugoi! =^_^= ' internet level Japanese.

Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Blizzard bans 100,000+ for cheating/gold farming

Unfortunately, it's a case of though it looks impressive on paper, in reality it doesn't do a whole lot. Well, they can't stop them, but FFXI proved that effort needs to be maintained to keep them in check. SE's attitude was that if they banned a gil seller they'd just make a new account so there was no point, but then the RMT seriously fucked over the economy about a year ago. They sold so much gil for so cheap that only the gilbuyers could buy the big items as paying more wasn't a issue for them. So SE started targeting the RMT mules so they didn't have enough to sell and it helped. While the economy in WoW doesn't seem to have the large FFXI flaw of it being to damn hard to make money that drove people to buy gil in the first place they should still do everything to make it as hard on the RMT as possible. Banning accounts and filtering website names is a good move.

I still remember what I was thinking leaving midgar. 'What the hell?'. I mean, leaving the city eventually is a must, but after all the talk of the planet dying you walk ten damn feet and it's sunny green fields.
If I'm on a near dead planet I need to SEE that. Just taking Barret's word for it isn't the same thing.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Ps3 Rpg outlook?
|
on: December 28, 2006, 11:47:48 PM
|
|
I imagine PS3 will be THE system for console style rpgs just like the PS2 was. The Japanese developers aren't going to start making the xbox their favored system as it's not popular in Japan and it's unlikely that they'll go for the wii just because it's been 10 years since nintendo has been a serious competitor.(Outside hand helds that is, where they absolutely dominate.)
I don't like it. Charging people $600 I WANT the PS3 to fail so that I don't need to buy one. But unless microsoft buys SE or nintendo really shows they can compete then the games that I want to play are going to end up being on the PS3.
