Beijing is one of the most smoggy and polluted cities in the world, but then again, as a cycling enthusiast myself, even in the rural part of New Jersey I go riding in I still have to share the road with cars so I'm practically fellating exhaust pipes.

If any of you read Calvin & Hobbes, you'll know that Calvin's dad is an avid cyclist and rants about how "cyclists have a right to the road too you noisy overpolluting road hogs!  I hope gas goes up to 8 bucks a gallon!"

I'll admit. I'm scared of cyclists. I have this unrealistic fear that if I don't go halfway into the oncoming traffic lane I'm going to kill someone trying to pass one. So if there's something actually coming I slow down and nervously try to pass without having a heart attack.

Raze...  I think we all should change to Sephiroth avatars.

How about sigs?  I just changed my avatar.  :)

We can say the reason the little fluffy guy's nervous is Sephiroth is about to drop down and impale him.

And something needs to be done with Riker and Sephiroth. He can be browsing the forums and come across a bad fanfiction or something :P

Whoa, really? Then Raze, you da man! :P

Yep, I haven't went anywhere :D

And yet, "Sig check" was a perfectly acceptable topic.  :)

I think she actually took a jab at me once for a avatar test and locked the thread :) Speaking of sigs, though that kind of thing wouldn't fly today, I like how everyone had their own horrible midi embedded in them.

Lets see. Some memories include Sephiroth avatar madness: Which I tried to recreate. Honestly I'm not sure if that's the same picture, but it certainly is reminiscent.

And on the avatar note the month I made up(Although Dios promoted it and really got it going) where we all used the absolute worst avatars we could find/make.

Lots of great suikoden discussion. In fact, a fandom of good games in general(Except ff7, because even though it was great it was mainstream and we were indy or something :P ). A rare fandom since it was so strong yet didn't turn us into retards. Even among the veterans we don't really have that here anymore. We like rpgs, but we don't love them. One could say they don't make them like they used to, but I think it's just a side effect of getting older. Then again there's a certain love for SMT. Maybe we just need more originality(Well, technically SMT's not really 'new', since it's been around since the nes, but relatively new style to us anyway). Or, hey, it could just be that the game journal thread stops people from opening discussions on games.

Everyone was batshit for lunar. Which promptly got me into the PS remakes and I loved them. Apparently they were best on sega cd though. I don't know if that's true or if that was the indy thing again.

The first raidou for me was one of those games that you know is bad, but you like anyway. It's style and setting completely carried it. For me to be interested in a sequel they're going to have to kick it up a notch. And it'd be nice if the cat stopped holding my hand.

Like, fucking Sherlock Holmes with a pet succubus.

Elementary, my dear demonic whore.

Great idea. Wait, how do we know if they're random?

Well, when Cloudxsephiroth69 joins it may not be random. But nothing good can come of it :P

Alright Din, although I'm like 189 Ill take you up on your offer.  I think Din should be banned, because, if I am correct, he plays Bass Guitar, and as we all know, Bass Guitar is not a real instrument!

In his defense, Dincrest is a penguin from the planet earth. But he lives on the planet dezoris. Now think about that. That does not. Make. Sense.

Are we really discussing the anatomy of hype?

What else would we discuss in a batman movie thread? A batman movie?
670  Media / Brush and Quill / 100 Must-Read Books: The Essential Man's Library on: July 26, 2008, 04:18:24 AM
Most books on the list were things read in high school. Which is I imagine the worst time to read them. At least early highschool, 16-18 you get a bit more receptive. But you're 14 and have to read The Great Gatsby it just isn't going to do anything for you. Now I don't remember a thing about the book. And I know that's because it's either too much for a 14 year old or that it's simply not something that a 14 year old really cares to read.

Now I do remember Brave New World. Hated, but respected it. Hated it because it was way to focused on it's own theme, a theme you already knew before you read the book if you've ever watched any science fiction. The result of a book about a utopian future where man didn't have any heart, yet the book itself didn't have any heart as it was too focused on itself. Yet it needs respected because the sci fi you've seen that used the theme got the theme from this book in the first place. I'm sure if it were 1930(Give or take 15 years, whenever it was made) and I read it then it would have been a hell of a lot better.

I still want to see Jet Li transform into SSJ Leonardo Dicaprio.
674  The Rest / General Discussions / Obscure Talents on: July 22, 2008, 03:06:45 PM
My useless talent is looking like a shaolin monk, without any of the actual ability. Give me a staff(*Cough*Floor brush handle, long balanced stick etc :P) and I can rapidly spin it in one hand. Either by throwing it over my wrist rapidly or twirling it in my fingers like a very big pen(It's actually easier than twirling a pen, momentum carries it).

I've also tried to master the art of throwing cards. Never really did though. I can crack one against a wall, but I have no accuracy and I may have to try a few times to get it to work.
675  Media / Single-Player RPGs / What dead series(or mostly dead) do you miss the most? on: July 22, 2008, 03:37:14 AM
I'd say Lunar and Skies of Arcadia(Which I guess isn't a series. It could be though) . They just had a certain 'feel' to them that goes beyond gameplay. There's lots of fun rpgs. Fewer are ones with great stories, but even beyond that. Not a lot of games outright charm the player. Hell in the case of SoA it didn't have great gameplay OR story. Yet it had that something to make you love it. Other examples of this, not dying series, but just games that have that feel I'm talking about are dragon quest 8 and dark cloud 2.(At least I hope dark cloud isn't dead. I guess it's been awhile, if so put it on the list)

For Suikoden I don't think is dead. Just stuck in 'we don't know which system to make rpgs for' limbo. Probably a lot of less mainstream rpgs sitting there.

Edit-To put it into words better, that feel is The Spirit of Adventure. And yes I'm aware that I just stole someones custom title to explain myself :P
