I guess the problem that then arises is that you're left with an incentive structure where developers are free to lie as much as they want as long as the final game is good.

To be quite frank, it's been this way since forever.  When the commercial for Final Fantasy 8 debuted on air, they sure weren't showing off the in-game assets.  There's always been an element of deception when it comes to marketing/hyping any product, and consumers have always bore the responsibility to separate wheat from chaff.

They really should ditch the armoury system and just go with a dedicated job system.  They clearly are no longer committed to it with the new jobs having no class associations.  May as well go for it since the existing system merely gives the illusion of choice, much like stat distribution.

Actually, no he wasn't.  He was resisting arrest, but he was making no attempt to get away.  You are casually dismissive of the fact that he pleaded of being unable to breath, and yet, that is critical.  When an individual is to be detained, their welfare is the responsibility of the police.  Suffocation of your detainee is kind of a big fucking deal.

The police had two options while detaining him once he was on the ground and pleading for air: they could choose to let off a bit so he could breathe, or they could continue what they were doing.  If they had chose the former option, had he been deceiving them and made an attempt to flee, they would have easily taken him down again.  If he wasn't deceiving them, he would have been able to breathe, and the arrest would have gone as intended.  In either situation, Eric Garner would likely be alive.

The police chose the latter option, choosing to ignore his pleas.  That decision cost Eric Garner his life.  It is an unacceptable outcome, one that could have been easily avoided.

Yeah, the game definitely goes for a quantity over quality type approach since Bioware's always been known for more focused games.  I'm not done with Inquisition, but I can already rank the Dragon Age games accordingly: Origins > Inquisition > Mass Effect Trilogy > SWTOR > KOTOR > Baldur's Gate Saga > 2

The problem lies with Bioware's decision to have you edit your character's appearance with the Fade's bizarre lighting, rather than lighting that is more representative of... well, everywhere else that the game takes place at.  Said lighting makes creating a character more complicated than it should be if you're big on every detail being right.

Knew it was going to get a release on newer consoles which is why I waited.  I'll pick it up after Bloodborne.  Hopefully, the lighting engine that they showcased before release makes it back in.

@Parn If your playing a gay elf then who are you planning on romancing? If its Dorian than you'll want to do the mission "In hushed whispers" to get him asap. Though Iron Bull is a really funny romance. Freddie prince jr hits the ball out of the park with Iron Bull. Yes, it IS that Freddie prince jr. who is the VA for Iron bull, believe it or not.

Dorian is amusing, but also an ass.  Iron Bull is basically a bro.  I'm going to go with the latter and see how it plays out.

Oh and Yoda, I had that conversation glitch twice today.  Hitting the square button seemed to wake my PS4 up out of that rut.

Not sure why the other thread got locked, but may as well continue talking about the game.

I went through each class and played about an hour of each just to get a feel of things.  The opening tutorial got boring as hell on the fifth time, but that's my fault.  I ended up going with archer which I find to be a lot of fun.  I'm only playing normal difficulty so I haven't had to really use the tactical camera much, as of yet anyway.  I've played almost 10 hours worth and have been doing way too many side-tasks in the Hinterlands, but I play MMOs so I'm having a blast.  The game definitely makes up for Dragon Age 2 and then some.  I like the little touches such as the bards that sing various songs in taverns, and I've found myself just dropping by and giving them a listen anytime I go back to a town.  I also love the combat system, as the lack of healing magic makes things play out very differently than what I'm used to.  The guard mechanic is great.

The frostbite engine also has pulled off some great visuals.  Love the huge, open environments.  It's definitely weird going through such huge landscapes in what are usually very confined, focused areas for Bioware games.  I like the change, it's refreshing.  The only negatives I have are that some of the Bioware animations have worn thin, and they still can't do hair right, certainly not in comparison to what Square Enix pulls off in their games.  Minor gripes though.  I still made my gay male elf archer look hot.  Awww yeeeee


Edit: Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, I like the switch to Trevor Morris for the soundtrack from Inon Zur doing the prior games.  Though I have to say, at times I feel like the music has a bit of "Game of Thrones" flavor to it.  Maybe it was on purpose.  I dunno.

Welp, guess that clears that bit up.

Since we're doing "sky" with this expansion, I wonder if they'll do "sea" next like a certain other MMO.  Heh.

Can you use that thing in The Black Shroud?  There are an awful lot of invisible walls there.

The flying mounts thing has me puzzled and simultaneously intrigued as far as how one would implement such a thing in a game that has a lot of fade-to-black zoning and an inability to cross any watery areas that are deeper than a foot.  Guess we'll see.
