2086  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Man, I'm bored out of my mind. on: August 19, 2008, 10:58:56 PM
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo is released tomorrow.  That'll kill some time, and it's a good way to find out if the game's worth a purchase or not.

Also consider picking up Civilization Revolution.  Play the demo and see if you like it.  If you do, you'll be buying a game with ridiculous amounts of replay value.

Slowdown'll be in the retail copy, that much is clear.  Unless it directly affects my ability to play, it's not going to bother me.  When Genis' Tidal Wave and Raine's Ray went off at the same time in Tales of Symphonia, the action onscreen went to a crawl, but it didn't exactly make me disappointed with the game.

The only thing I'm concerned about based on what we've seen so far is voice acting.  The battle voices are terrible, and if we can't turn them off... THAT will affect my enjoyment.  HOT STUFF COMING YOUR WAY.

Faulty argument.  No one gave a shit when there was slowdown in Kingdom Hearts, Phantasy Star Online, the list goes on.

Wow.  We lose interest in games over framerate dips?

Man, Skies of Arcadia sure did suck every time the framerate crawled during exploration or during special attacks.  Shadow of the Colossus was obviously crap, the framerate stuttered all the time.  Man, when the first battle started in Final Fantasy X after Auron gave Tidus that sword and the framerate dropped, and then it dropped again when the Sin spawn used the Demi spell on the party, I knew from that exact point that the entire game would be garbage.

Seriously, this console generation has spawned some of the dumbest gripes ever.  People act like inconsistent framerate is something new to console games.  I could buy complaining about the repetitive, terrible voice acting... but some framerate drops?  Bitch, please.

One man's fun is another man's boredom.  After all, we spend countless hours pushing the same four face buttons on a game controller.

I like it when America loses. It's called "schadenfreude."

Some people thing I like using german words because I'm pretentious but it's really just the result of studying german for so damn long and I can't even speak that crazy-ass language.

I've got a joke!

Question: How do you blindfold a Chinese man?

Answer: Wrap their eyes with dental floss.

Thieving, here.  Money from my folks when I was in my early teens to be specific.  After getting my ass beaten, being grounded, and having no Christmas that year while my siblings got to open presents as I watched, I never stole money ever again.

All I know about Disgaea, is that it has some of the creepiest art I've ever seen in a videogame.
2095  The Rest / General Discussions / Majority of MMO players transvestites? on: August 10, 2008, 04:12:10 PM
My online characters always look like me as much as character creation allows for, since I don't do the RPG part of MMORPGing and carry on with conversation online as I would offline.  In essence, my character is an extension of myself merely in a virtual world, and so when I do awesome things in a make-believe universe, it further inflates my huge ego just like when I do awesome things in real life.
2096  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Vesperia - Special Edition on: August 08, 2008, 11:43:25 PM
Probably not, since it's a brand new IP.  Gamers complain about developers making sequels all the time instead of coming up with new ideas, but they usually don't have any intention in following through on their rhetoric.  Infinite Undiscovery is going to be a sleeper hit.

It may be worth noting that my experience with the Tales series is limited to Symphonia, and a little bit of Phantasia.
