i have a 42" 1080 hd lcd and looking at L.O. on it and mass effect for that matter as well. there are times things look a bit jagged, not quite as clean. now MGS4 on the other hand looks nothing short of perfect.

You're full of shit.  Metal Gear Solid 4 is rendered at 1024x768 and thus has a lot of jagged edge issues due to having to be rescaled for 1280x720 or 1920x1080 displays.  It's even more blatant on a quality 1080p display, like mine.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune kicks Metal Gear Solid 4's ass in the graphics department on PS3 with all the graphical effects, animation, texture quality, and for the fact that its rendered at a proper aspect ratio and resolution (1280x720).  If you seriously can't see all the aliasing issues on Metal Gear Solid 4, your TV sucks or you're blind.

I have Panzer Dragoon Orta what do you think of that game. Tried Mass Effect but it was confusing to me but i'll try again later. never played Star Wars: Kotor or Phantasy Star but I have played Skies of Arcadia for DC.

Orta was alright.  It felt like the stepchild of the series... probably because the series was meant to end with Saga.  It had that after-the-fact feel to it, and never really sat well with me.

As for Mass Effect, the game does have a problem with not explaining the game system from the get-go, and you have to pretty much figure it out yourself by trial-and-error.  The writing on the other hand, is top of the line in the genre.  I replayed it four or five times.

Ok then what RPGs did you like I was just using the FFs as an example since afterall the series is very popular.

Panzer Dragoon Saga.  Mass Effect.  Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.  Shining Force 3.  Phantasy Star 4.  Skies of Arcadia.

There's more, but those came immediately to mind.

Wow I actually own Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata and they don't seem to be very boring to me. I guess its all about Final Fantasy for you guys. Enchanted Arms is the only RPG I disliked I gotta try to get Lost Odyssey since it does looks interesting.

Thanks for being a presumptuous douche tool, but let's see here... I've played Final Fantasy 7's first disc (I hated it), I've played Final Fantasy X (average game), I've played Final Fantasy XI (love/hate relationship... mostly hate), and I've played Final Fantasy XII (ZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzz).  Yeah, I'm all about some Final Fantasy.

Is this guy for real.

I disagree.  More complaining means more entertainment for me.  It's only been two days, so it hasn't worn out on me yet.

Congrats PS3 owners!  You already have Enchanted Arms, so maybe Mistwalker will port Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon so you can have the full quartet of boring JRPGs that us 360 owners experienced.

Seriously, Eternal Sonata blows.  I was so hyped up for it, and was let down.  Big time.

Oh God, I almost forgot about the Team ICO game.  I bet they unveil it tomorrow.  It'll make my day... again!

According to a 1up article, the PS3 version is being finished first.

Well, it's still a PS3 exclusive in Japan, but obviously, most of us don't care since most of us don't understand Japanese. But the thing that irks me is that the 360 development is behind the PS3 and they're supposed to be released simultaneously in NA?

See you in forever, FF13.

I'd say you don't have to worry about that.  They just have to make the Crystal Tools engine work with the 360.  It's not like they have to recode the game from the ground up.  Those days are long gone.

Object-oriented programming is great stuff.
2109  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Pontificating Sega's future RPG offerings on: July 14, 2008, 08:46:55 PM
Valkyria Chronicles is pretty much Sega's latest RPG offering.  Considering Vyse, Aika, and Fina make cameo appearances, it's safe to say what team was involved in its creation.

Lame....

Now we have just another game that's dumbed down to work on both consoles.

This console generation is turning into PC gaming.

One of the biggest advantages console gaming had was to deliver an amazing gaming experience given the hardware the console had.
Now we have games that can't be optimized for any set of hardware and have to work universally.

Anyone who thinks the 360 or PS3 is that much different in visual capability is silly.  They're both running GPUs based on PC videocards from ATI and Nvidia two generations ago... almost three considering what's up-and-coming.

You know, nevermind the whole object-oriented programming angle.  The idea that no one console is capable of being used to its fullest capability because it's a multiplatform game is dumb.
2111  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Star Ocean 4 being exclusive to the 360? on: July 14, 2008, 07:26:24 PM
Finished watching four trailers on the marketplace.  Star Ocean 4 looks incredible.  Fable 2 also looks incredible.

Non-RPG wise, Resident Evil 5 looks amazing, as does Gears of War 2.  My 360 is going to get a lot of playtime, holy shit.
2112  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Star Ocean 4 being exclusive to the 360? on: July 14, 2008, 07:08:57 PM
I doubt it, but we know it's coming to the console first.  Additionally, a new trailer is up on the Xbox Live Marketplace.  There's also a new trailer for Fable 2.  Downloading them as I type this.
2113  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Holy Crap. Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 on: July 14, 2008, 06:17:50 PM
'08 was going to be the year of the PS3 only in fanboys' minds.

I don't regret owning all three consoles, however.  White Knight Chronicles is going to be published by SCE and thus will never see the light of day on 360.  Likewise goes to Uncharted 2, whenever Naughty Dog finishes it.  Valkyria Chronicles is going to ship in November, and Little Big Planet will be here soon.

PS3 isn't the RPG console this generation, but it still has games to play if you think the entry fee is worth it.
2114  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Holy Crap. Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 on: July 14, 2008, 05:43:41 PM
Boring trailer is boring.  Seriously, more than half of it was stuff we've already seen, 99% of it was CG, and it was a poorly pieced trailer at that.  The earlier ones had far better music and had better direction.  Like this one.

Show us some freakin' gameplay already, Square.  NEW gameplay that is, not that same sequence of Lightning launching soldiers into the ceiling.  We saw that bit two years ago.

Man, those announcements are badass.

I just hope they're patched to already existing 360s. :P

It will be.  I imagine they're saving all of this for the annual fall dashboard update, since they skipped the spring update that they usually do.
