2283  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Most Anticipated RPG for the summer on: May 02, 2008, 02:03:23 PM
not really looking forward to anything but may pick up a 360 in the summer to try blue dragon and  lost odyssey.  what i am really waiting for is the big stuff like white knight story.
2284  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Persona 3 question on: May 02, 2008, 01:59:20 PM
i have been thinking of picking up FES since it includes the original game but i am still on the fence. as someone who values gameplay over story whats the likelyhood of me liking this game? normally i would jump on any game that is hyped here but personally the last 2 times i personally got burned. suikoden 5 and dragon quest 8 if you are curious.

The point of having a world map is that sense of actually discovering new things, whether that be villages, caves, casinos or whatever, instead of just pushing a button and arriving at a new place.

the problem with this is getting lost and/or being unable to find your next location. another problem with world maps is that they tend to look largely the same all over the planet.*cough*talesoftheabyss*cough* i liked ffxii's over world because they had a variety of locales.

now a couple things i'd like to comment on.

Xenosaga 2:the largest problem with xenosaga is 2 things. first off trial and error is the only way to know where a particular attack hits. second of all switching members costs you a turn. both of these issues were fixed in XS3 since they did away with attack zones and attack types. so you really only needed to change if someone was low on hp or sp.

FFVIII:silly people you dont draw spells so you can cast them! you draw spells so squall can do 9,999 a hit with lionheart :)

and about FF9 i think its similar to Wild Arms 5 in that a lot of the stuff in that game will be meaningless if you have not played previous FF's when i originally played FF9 i had only previously played FF7 FF8 and tactics.

edit:about radiant dawn. even though you lose if someone dies, does it not let you save mid battle without exiting to the title screen? in my opinion that could actually make it easier than PoR.

on the 18th of april i finished a 2 week work evaluation program. gotta go back on the 30th to see the results. and monday(april 21st) was my birthday. i am now 28 and the big 30 is creeping up on me >_>

also texting is lame. i hate trying to decypher all those abreviations.

I personally don't use abbreviations. That's why I have the full keyboard. I can't stand the abbreviations. To me texting is similar to using AIM or MSN when on the go. It is also good for getting pictures from people halfway across the country. Like it or dislike it, it is convenient sometimes.

to be fair i don't even own a cell phone. so my opinion was partly based on those commercials where it looks like the girls are talking in some weird code. i also remember a couple years ago i got a cell phone for my sister and she racked up a $500 bill in texting charges.

i am not going to play crap like wii fit and wii sports and the people that play those games aren't gonna play the stuff i like

That is an amazingly ignorant and elitist statement. I play Wii Sports and RPGs. If you had said "Aren't as likely..." then I wouldn't be calling you an idiot for the statement, but as it stands. You are an idiot.

it wasn't meant to be elitist. personally i never liked those pick up and play games, and never envisioned that it would be possible for one to like both types of games. perhaps im just a narrow minded person.

this could be the game that finally gets me to spring for a 360.

i simply don't understand how wii fit is supposed to create a better environment for stuff like fire emblem. i am not going to play crap like wii fit and wii sports and the people that play those games aren't gonna play the stuff i like. so the above quote sounds like bullshit to me.
