the concept is interesting but the DQ'esque battle system kills it. i mean its ok if its like DQ8 or ps4 where you actually see your characters perform the attacks. but if an attack results in a slashmark on the enemy then that is lame.

i know but i was under the impression that enemies actually had to strike you to get advantage.

not really? i noticed on hard that sometimes when you strike an enemy instead of the battle starting neutral the enemy will have the advantage for no reason. when i destroyed my cd i encountered a bunch of tiara's and had a light weak persona equiped,and for no reason they had the advantage. i ended up dying because they spammed a high level hama spell until all my characters were dead and destroyed all my homonculus.

it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't send you back to the title screen. maybe do it like wild arms 5 where it lets you replay the battle. the rage comes not from the cheap death but the loss of time especially since i went from boss to boss in tartarus.

this thread only serves to remind me how sad i am that the ps2 remakes and gaiden will never see the light of day here. perhaps they are too expensive to translate.

i hope this game takes it easy on the cheap deaths. cheap deaths lead to the destruction of my FES CD on my second playthrough on hard.

i'm pretty much in shock right now. ffxiii WAS my reason for owning a ps3. i've stayed away from the 360 because it's home to tons of the genre i hate. first person shooters.

as good as shining force is i'm gonna have to put it behind super robot wars most recent offerings. even fire emblem i dont think is a match for SRW's basic battle system even if you take away spirit commands. can knights block for mages? no. as for other battle systems i love theres the wild arms hex system used in WA 4 and 5 and of course valkyrie profile is pure awesomeness. when it comes to more traditional rpg's is close between FFX and persona 3

im not one of those people that harps sub over dub. in fact i watch subbed and dubbed bleach. and if i have the option to watch a battle subbed or dubbed i'd go for subbed. those battles crys and such just sound much better from jp voice actors. something else to keep in mind is that english voice acting tends to be better when there is no lip syncing involved.

my problem right now  is that even if a game goes multi platform theres issues. for example i have a ps3 and all my friends have a 360 so i wont be able to fight against them in soul calibur 4 because xbox live is stupid like that.
