i disagree with this because when multiple ending are well done in video games it not as simple as good ending/bad ending 2 great examples are valkyrie Profile Lenneth and um castevania(the one for gba where the main character uses a sword) also if there is multiple story arcs it doesnt cheapen things because the one that resonates most with my own life will mean more too me. as an example in arc the lad twilight of spirits Darc's story meant more to me than Karg's because i know what its like to be the victim of racism and/or intolerance.

One thing I thought was interesting was the story had an emphasis on crystals again....which we haven't seen since.....what, FF6?



i realize most people here have not played it but FFXI has heavy emphasis on crystals. there is even a conflict in the ffxi backstory known as the crystal war. in the next expansion we get to go back in time and experience that war :o imagine that a game by members of the chrono cross team featuring time travel.

Eusis he/she may be refering to the fact that OGS was delayed by nearly a year. OGS was announced months before Super Robot Taisen W but came out almost half a year after W.

i hated the DQ8 overworld but a lot of that could have to do with the fact that in my experience with the game any random encounter could wipe you. wich likely resulted in me being afraid to travel anywhere but the next location to advance the story. skies of arcadia overworld was indeed great. its hard for me to pindown what exactly made it great though. while not an overworld i liked how FFX handled things because it gave a feeling you were traveling on a journey. also any form a travel wich results in a different variation of combat wins. i was a huge fan of the horseback battles in wild arms 3.

theres a cool looking card minigame as well. possibly a replacement for tsume super robo strategy game that some SRW's have.

summon a tier 1 summon then aspir/osmose it. summons dont use mp for their moves/magic. i think you can also revive characters that are on standby.

ffxi and ffxii essentially use the same battle system(and probally the same game engine too) except ffxi uses the job system instead of the stupid lisence board. theres some other small differences too like limit breaks not consuming mp and summons not sending party members away or consumong all your mp. the only use i found for summons in ffxii is so out of the box i didnt even think of it till after i got rid of the game.

I really do think it's still too early to call it, though.  But if there still isn't much to choose from in six months besides a bunch of party games and minigame collections, this'll join the Virtual Boy as shit from Nintendo that I can't be bothered to own.


agreed. also while sega did create stuff like phantasy star and shining force. nintendo had starfox and metroid. if those aren't somewhat hardcore i dont know is.

a party in valkrum dunes was more enjoyable than the ffxii combat system. the difficulty of the bosses really turned me off from the game. you know that earth dragon with like moss growing on it? the first time i fought it,it somehow berserked itself. i found that with many boss the longer the fight went the more likely it was that i would lose the battle attrition. also ffxii is one of those games where you can get stuck in a endless loop of death > resurection > death. until you eventually wipe wich is what happend to me at the last boss i fought before i quit and traded the game in. perhaps the fact that i was trying to play it as if it was ffxi is what doomed me since i was only concerned with controlling one character at a time. wich for me was Ashe who i had using axe/sheild. well at least i can say that ashe is my favorite FF female since quistis in FF8
