2386  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Something to consider(about Matsuno and the ogre battle saga on: November 02, 2007, 12:31:08 AM
i played knight of lodis for a little bit and i wasnt impressed an hour into the game. it was like ffta without the cool final fantasy universe.
2387  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Xenosaga III aka How I gave up on Xenosaga II on: November 01, 2007, 01:38:25 AM
the biggest problem with xenosagas 2's battle system was that you didnt know wich zone each attack hits. whareas in ffx you know wakka attacks are sure to hit flying monsters and aurons attacks are sure to cut through armored enemies. i have hope the xenosaga will eventually make an appearence in super robot wars.
2388  Media / Single-Player RPGs / RPG battle engines topic: companion character AI on: October 17, 2007, 04:30:56 AM
i personally liked the AI in rouge galaxy. my feeling is that as long as i dont feel like i have to babysit my allies then its generally fine with me. i think the problem for someof you might be that games with AI sometimes require a degree of skill. no what pissed me off though? how you never get to control lucia in lunar 2.
2389  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Fire Emblem DS!!!! on: October 13, 2007, 03:01:52 AM
to give an example theres no shamans druids or summoners in PoR and they made one of the former dark spells a light spell.
2390  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Fire Emblem DS!!!! on: October 12, 2007, 12:48:50 PM
i just hope this doesnt use the horrible class system from path of radiance. i liked the class system used in the gba fire emblems.

looking at the screenshots it looks like the animations will be inferior to srt W but meh i may still give it a chance.

2392  The Rest / General Discussions / The video game difficulty discussion on: October 06, 2007, 02:06:51 AM
for me theres a fine line between challanging and frustrating, and that line gets smaller as i get older and have less patience(i'm 27). i personally like it when difficulty comes from bonus objectives rather than normal gameplay. the super robot wars and fire emblem series are usually great for this. in OG2 theres a battle where you are supposed to run away from the inspectors but if you instead defeat them you get some amazing weapons, but make no mistake actually defeating them at such a low level is probally one of the harder battles in the game. and then fire emblem it becomes harder than it needs to be due to my refusal to let certain people die.

Race/Job combinations?  Taru will always be the "best" mages because of their racial emphasis on MP, MND, and INT, and Mithra will always be the "best" THFs, RNGs etc. because of their high AGI and DEX values, but it doesn't matter much and no one really cares anymore.  Galka WHMs, Mithra BRDs, all sorts of "inferior" combinations are very acceptable, these days, and any minor differences in the racial stuff can be easily accounted for with good gear and merit points.

EDIT - Last night's accomplishements.  44.5 COR --> 47 COR, and helped Leyviur kill the two NMs for the SAM quest (which he has now unlocked, I believe)!

actually im pretty sure mithra and taru are tied for the worst mind. plus from my time with whm and blu i always felt +mp was worthless unless you are zerging since once things get going you will rarely get back to full mp or completely exhaust your mp. then again im an elvaan female so i may be downplaying mp. meh i should get a new sig since when i had it made i was planning to level puppetmaster to 75 wich i promptly retired at 23 =o

so far this week has kinda sucked for me i havent had an invite since last week on drg(57) so i soloed most of the AF for it then got annoyed that i cant just go hundred fist the AF3 NM since you have to have your wyvern called for the 2 shadow nm's to pop =/ a lot of my ls has shifted to earlier times over the years so its hard for me to get help with stuff at night. oh i had to kill dark spark twice to clear the sam af gloves quest... oh well back to drg/blu soloing for 2k an hour  >_<
2395  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy IV Preview and Video on: September 24, 2007, 12:37:59 AM
the probem with excessive customization in rpg's is that if you dont make your characters be all you are gimping yourself. wich was definately the case with ffxii. in ffxii one character alone can not keep your party healed in boss fights. meanwhile in ffx either yuna or rikku can keep the party healed alone.

i already despise this game. i abhor games where every character can use everything.
2397  Media / Single-Player RPGs / TGS is around the corner... what do you look forward to? on: September 19, 2007, 10:23:04 AM

2398  Media / Single-Player RPGs / UK RPGFans listen up! on: September 19, 2007, 10:19:33 AM
what makes mages obsolete in VP2 unlike VP1 is that anyone can attack from the back row. another problem with mages is thier ultimate magic sucks. the main good one is the one that summons a leviathan since it can go third in a soul crush chain.
2399  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Crisis Core ... and more FF7 PS3 talk... on: September 17, 2007, 01:01:17 PM
if a ff7 remake where to use the white engine it would conceivably would not take to long to make no? white engine i believe is what ffxiii uses as well as the new SE MMO

From IGN:

"Yes, ship. Star Ocean 4 will, expectedly, continue the same space theme of past entries. Players have their own ship this time around and can travel freely through the stars, landing and exploring as they like. The game will feature a large number of planets, although Kojima noted that players will be able to land their ship in places that aren't really properly formed planets."

just posting random info as i find it

i think TGS is gonna be epic compared to the borefest that was E3 this year.
