saying VP2 is hard is like saying playing the clarinet is hard when you havent taken the time to learn it. relatively early in the game it brutally punishes anyone who button mashes, and you cant disable the function that causes that. the punishment is in fact a reward for players that correctly time attacks.

FFX isnt hard BUT the monster arena is. i recall a monster that petrified my guys under water when they had stoneproof, and in FFX any character petrified under water instantly is removed from the battle.

heres my list.
Tales of the Abyss on v-hard and unknown
enemies on unknown have around X4 to base stats on unknown. the liger queen took me about 40 minutes of chiping away before jade showed up.

FFXII some of the bosses are total BS seriopusly they were reminding me of HNM's in FFXI

DQVIII-i found the combat system pretty unforgiving and because of the way the game chips away at your resources i started overcompensating wich ultimately made things worse.

Fire Emblem Sealed Sword-this is the one with Roy and its absolutely brutal if you play for no deaths. there was a battle were i was beseiged by wyvern knights and i still havent managed to win that battle without any casualties. even with archers my archers cant kill them all fast enough.its also the home of bullshit like a boss sitting on a castle with a brave sword and a brave bow.

growlanser generations-its been a while so i dont recall exactly what the factor was but i recall both games being difficult.
2388  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Level 5 announces Soccer RPG WTF? on: August 30, 2007, 02:15:34 AM
im not even gonna bother here i got some enjoyment out of rouge galaxy but got none out of DQVIII. DQVIII was an exercise in frustration. slap RG's battle system on DQVIII and i think i would have liked it. anyways white knight story looks fucking amazing from what ive seen so far. i just hope they dont rename it weisritter story or something XP
2389  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Capcom gets up a poll asking about Mega Man's future on: August 28, 2007, 12:23:07 AM
humorous may not of been a choice word but you the champion of writing and characterization suddenly talking about gameplay caught me off guard.

Quote from: "Prime Mover"
Will someone explain to me how "Mega Man X turned the series in a new direction"? Basically, it was exactly the same as the original games, but with animal robot bosses, and wall jumping. I'm sorry, people these days talk about X as if it was God's gift to games, but when it came out, I kept thinking that it was just "same old, same old".

You want a great post-NES MegaMan game? Try "RockMan & Forte" (effectively MegaMan 9), now THAT game had some actually original stuff in it.

coming from you this is humorous. while rockman and forte is nice its only advantage over megaman 8 is bass/trebble as a playable character.

the X series added 2 more playable characters, zero and axel. i agree with shiguma though X4 was the pinacle of the  X series though i hear X8 is good. unfortunately X7 gives me painful memories of the following phrase. "burn burn burn to the ground"
2391  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Games you didn't INITIALLY like but then did. Later. on: August 27, 2007, 02:19:48 AM
FFT battles are generally short compared to many other srpg's thats a lame complaint imo

as for me the first time i played:

FFT i didnt like it and got stuck at the thieves fort battle only once i grasped the game mechanics and the job system i loved it.

Dragon Force a similar deal as with FFT

Valkyrie Profile Lenneth while i never disliked the game it wasnt till  my second playthrough that i truely fell in love with the game.
2392  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Wild Arms 5 on: August 26, 2007, 02:54:50 AM
overworlds are over rated and often lead to frustration for me. as for me ill definately be picking this up since im clearly the only person on the planet that doesnt give a damn about bioshock so im pretty bored at the moment.
2393  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Mario Strikers Charged on: August 20, 2007, 06:23:55 AM
can you use the classic controller for this game or does it force you to use the wii mote? i enjoyed the first mario strykers.
2394  The Rest / General Discussions / The best mega-gaming sites... on: August 16, 2007, 01:38:26 AM
i used to go to gamespot when it was called videogames.com. i sometimes go to gametrailers.com because i believe seeing a game in action is far better than any review especially considering the only EGM/1up editors i consistantly agree with are che and maybe milkman. also i believe it or not gamefaqs message boards are a great source of information since you will get a lot of hardcore fans posting the latest news. since they post/translate from japaneese sites/magazine scans its info you wouldnt get from most mainstream sites.
2395  Media / Single-Player RPGs / top 3 best/worst Final Fantasy games (no spine-off) on: August 15, 2007, 01:32:05 AM
im alarmed that pretty much everyones reasons for liking games relates to story and characters(only). perhaps thats why im at a loss for understanding. the way a character is presented in battle can go a long way in my like or dislike of them and most recent ff games the characters have no identity in battle. i think my obsession with battle systems and gamplay comes from shining force 2 being the first rpg i played that i really liked as well as my background with fighting games.
2396  The Rest / General Discussions / What makes a game age well? on: August 14, 2007, 02:44:32 AM
2 main factors i think gameplay and animation quality.

gameplay is the foundation animation quality are the support beams.

if you are unsure what i mean by animation quality compare the character sprites in crono trigger to those in ff6
2397  Media / Single-Player RPGs / top 3 best/worst Final Fantasy games (no spine-off) on: August 14, 2007, 02:11:31 AM
except its not id take tactics over ff12 anyday.
this is last im gonna say on this in this topic but i just dont get the ff7 was my first so its one of my favorites sentiment. dragon warrior was my first rpg but its pretty far down there on my list.

back to FF9
Zidane = Terra?
Beatrix = Celes?

fanservice only works if you are the target of the fanservice otherwise it comes off annoying.
