I am still in chapter three so I've been skimming thread posts here.  Just recently, I acquired my first street pass hit while going to work last night.  I thought awesome when the screen popped up showing it happen.  It made me wonder if it has to come from another player playing the same game.

I'm not really a fan of open world games or Western RPG's, so I won't be funding it.  I do hope it turns out to be success, though, if only convince publishers that there are other genres of games that can be profitable.

I just added you.  If anyone wants to add me, my code is 0645-6505-4522.  I go by MonCappy on Nintendo.

I tried fighting beelzebub lvl10.....that is not a level 10 fight!

Goddamn it, when my level can't kill an enemy of the same level, i don't know what to do with these "levels" anymore....

BRAVERS.  FRIEND CODE.  RAAAH NOW. DO-EET.

I couldn't beat Beelzebub until I was around level 15.  He kept kicking my ass with his acid breath attack.  Even after leveling up that high, the fight was no picnic.

P.S.  I added Dice, Cyril and Klutz to my friends list.  Reciprocation would be highly appreciated.

Please add me too? 1005-8832-7182
Done.

True true.  It seems like it's marketing itself to the likes of Dust and stuff like that; the indie darling with the great production values.  If it turns out to be Dust meets Grandia for a good 15-20 hour romp, then I'll be satisfied.

I know Ubi-Soft is making serious bank from Assassin's Creed that they have money to play with for risky or semi-risky ventures, but the price point definitely caught my attention.
It looks damn good.  I sincerely hope Ubi-Soft puts out a concerted marketing push as I think this game deserves a chance to become a hit.  I definitely have every intention of making this a day one purchase.

And with a new GFX card I bet it's nice and purty, too :D
It does indeed.

I am generally not a fan of FPS games, but I make an exception for this one.  I recently purchased new graphics cards for my computer and they came with free downloadable copies of the game.  After playing about six hours of the game, I have to say it's a blast.

I think the game looks gorgeous.  I also liked the music that was playing in the trailer posted to the main site.  This game has certainly piqued my interest.

A game being subtitle only isn't enough to make me not buy it.  While my preference is English language spoken dialogue, for games to have the dialogue not localized, it isn't a deal breaker.  I certainly won't turn down a great game over the lack of English voices.

I would be less tolerant of passive forms of entertainment like animation and film, however.  I can tolerate subtitles for games, but not for film and television.

I`m not exactly impressed with the visuals, but I`m still stoked for this! It`s a Falcom game and they (almost)never suck.

Come on, it's a port of an early 90s game, though I don't know whether touched up the visuals from the PC or SNES version or made them from scratch. Presumably they touched up one of the versions? I think it has a certain Suikoden V vibe that I kind of like.

"Touched up" is quite the understatement... And it already can't be a port because of the inclusion of extra characters in addition to Adol. It's a full blown remake, but it may not be that either because Falcom never made their own version of Ys IV. They're finally making their own version of Ys IV, which makes this a lot more exciting than the news of most remakes.

In regards to just the visuals though: They look barely better than PSP... which makes me wonder if this was originally a PSP game before they saw the Vita announcement and decided "fuck it, we'll just port our work up to that."
That would be my guess. It looks like it's using the same graphics engine Ys Seven uses.  While the engine was fine for a PSP game, its not nearly as impressive for the Playstation Vita.  A part of me was actually rather disappointed with the new game's visuals.  While it won't stop me from buying the game (in fact, it's a system seller for me), I do wish it looked more impressive visually.

That is a significant part of it.  The other reason is that I want to experience the spoken dialogue in my own language and not a foreign one.

TBH I'd prefer it if the original voice acting was kept with subtitles, since I love some of the voice actors for the game judging from the trailer.

Great news. Hope we do see this series come to the US.

Edit: A Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky OAV is coming out this fall. I'd have loved if it was a whole tv series, but this is still better than nothing. I hope it's good.

Not me.  If there is one thing I can't stand is watching scenes spoken in a language I can't understand.  I would prefer poor acting in English over great acting in Japanese if it means I can understand the dialogue.

I just saw the latest trailer posted on the main site.  If I didn't already have ready access to a Playstation 3, I would seriously consider buying one just to play this game if a Western release were announced.  It looks like an animated film that you can play.  In my mind this game is definitely a system seller.  If it plays half as well as it looks, I can see this being a genuine classic.

The look of the game is just so impressive.  Every time I see it, I can't help but think it was a labor of love on the part of the creators.

All interest I had in the game evaporated when it was revealed that it is an online RPG.
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: tri-Ace Technical Demo on: April 23, 2011, 04:07:09 PM
but this blows everything I've ever seen before out of the water.

You serious? I can't believe some people are so impressed by this.

As for the Naughty Dog comparison, it's not about the budget, a lot of games with huge budgets are a technical mess. What they have is people with an unbelievable amount of talent.

Well, not including Crysis, but it's just not fair to compare anything to Crysis.

Why not?  And why even stop at Crysis?  I can think of a lot of games and demos that are more impressive than what that tech demo showed.  All we got to see are two characters, a small room, some standard-fare lighting effects for this generation, and a not-really-detailed open space with some rockets going off in the distance.  Hell, the grass is static and doesn't move despite evidence of wind when a couple of leaves fly by.  This blows away everything you've ever seen?

Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXyztq_0uM

or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqNHJ-ekMR4

Those are just tech demos, but they are running in real time as well.  There's plenty of games to check out that are more visually stunning than that tech demo on PS3, 360, or PC.
While I think the tech demos you linked to look better than the one produced by Tri-Ace, I still think the demo they made looks good.  I will say that I think the Crytech engine is pretty damn impressive with blur effects in particular.
