1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: SNES Rpgs that we never saw.... Astounded... on: June 02, 2012, 11:55:20 PM
The dragon Ball z rpg is also pretty cool.  It go from Z - Freeza fight.  Back in 1992 it was amazing.

Am I the only one who HATE the child story.... one hour in and i was tempting to break the disk in half.... bad voice acting, bad decision, not following order, ...... blah.
3  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Xenosaga 1, somehow not attracted..... on: March 15, 2012, 12:19:38 AM
.... can we tone down using the word "cunt" till there's a bad-enough male-equivalent?? T_T
I just hate that word....
...I guess I kinda get using it against Shion... she don't deserve many praises...

Penis lord.

... No wait, that really doesn't work at all. I guess you could call someone a scrotum though, but that doesn't really have the nasty punch to it.

As for Xenosaga: Honestly, 1's just an OK game, 2's terrible, and 3's when it becomes good. I thought ME could be Xenosaga done right as the epic space epic, but in the end it came off more as an inversion of it, ME's a better series on a whole but Xenosaga did do a few things better at least. Like a series ending.

You know what.. I think of the same thing.  At the end of me 3 and xeno 3, there were end of the world story, xenosaga pull off the end game beautifully while M<e3 end in a troll.

D. tnegA   Jin was suppose to be in the first game based on the original trailler where he was having saword fight with mag.
4  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Lunar 2 Eternal Blue on: January 05, 2012, 04:19:09 PM
Dice's incredibly negative story review is sadly accurate. Lunar 2 was one of my first RPGs and at the time when I played it, which was when it originally came out on Sega CD, it was practically a religious experience. Plus I had the entire VO from the Borgan fight memorized for years because fuck Borgan, that's why. It's been an incredible amount of time since I've played it though so I can't really run down the storyline. Turns out Ruby is a dragon and not actually a flying cat.

Bad memory from the original gravity bomb?

Suikoden II got its share of great line:

Leon: You forgot Rule #1 in 'the book.' Don't put yourself in danger.

Shu: I had to throw away 'the book.' You read it too many times..

Victor to Neclord:

"Heh, I'll make sure you can never make that grin again. I'll chop you up! Grind you up! Dry you in the sun! Break you to pieces! Bury you in the ground! Piss on you! Then I'll dig you up! Pull you! Stretch you! Drag you around! And then, and then, in any case, I'll never forgive you!!!"

Suikoden V is pretty emotional as well.... specially at the plot reveal and the bad AND incomplete ending.  The only thing worst is Nier ending....

Reboot is freaking stupid.  DMC1 is godly, DMC 2 suck.... in many different way; DMC 3 is good.  DMC 4, well, isn't bad, but I prefer Dante the entire way.  THIS is utter trash.   Why not let Platinum game do this?  They did a very nice job of Bayonetta; one can hate the music and character but the action is solid at 60fps for 360, which is great for me.

If that's the case... how come I am seeing Angele?
9  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dark Souls on: June 20, 2011, 03:56:40 AM
I am debating should I order it for 360 or ps3....  I platinum DS but I have to admit the online portion was unstable at best and at time I am only online for a few minute and it kick me off the server... hopefully xbl can fix that.

Also another noticed that they listed the Dark soul regular edition and Collector edition as different date on amazon.com?

Look nice but they added a bunch of character that I never heard of.  BTW, are they going to model it after the game or the anime?  Cuz the anime, while nice,  was missing several key note from the game like drilling a certain hateful bastard to death.
11  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Freakin' Hard Boss!!! on: June 20, 2011, 03:47:44 AM
Haha, this remind me of Borgan fight from Lunar 2: Eternal Blue for sega cd.  FREAKing hard boos fight that come out of no where.

I totally second that! Borgan was one of the most difficult trials of my youth!! LoL!! No seriously.... I remember trying to beat him religously each morning before the bus came to pick me up for school some odd 15 years ago.... The memories still haunt me.

Better yet... Ruby come out to say Zophar is weaker than Borgan.... And it is the truth probably lol.   Amd yes, Borgan was nerfed seriously for Saturn and psx release.

Fuck other games.

That pretty much describes what I'm feeling right now.

So I have to thank all of you guys in this huge thread: you're the reason I decided to give this game a second chance. This game has been more emotionally affecting and, more importantly, emotionally challenging than any game I've probably ever played. And to think I had given up on it!

Around the time Patrick Gann's review went up, I decided to give this game a chance and GameStop had it for cheap. My first impressions were a mixed bag. Interesting storyline, characters, and visual design, but lackluster level design, gameplay, and OH MY GOD FETCHQUESTCITY! I made it to the boss of the Desert Temple, which had me stuck and I gave up on the game and went on to "greener pastures."

Cue a couple of weeks ago, where I suddenly found the "Song of the Ancients" jamming itself back into my brain. For some reason, I was missing this game! Then I re-read Patrick's review. Then I listened to the whole soundtrack on Youtube. Finally I hopped into this thread and read everyone's impressions (as well as the advice on being able to switch the difficulty without starting the game over!). Damn you all! ;)

I love this game! I beat that boss on the Easy setting and never looked back. I'm now going through the B scenario, and the game is just WOW. The worst thing about it is still the fetchquests, but the best thing I can say is that the game never makes me do them, and I like how just accepting them will often prompt fully-voiced discussions among the party.

It's weird though. I've been wanting a game to challenge me emotionally and force me to do things I'm not comfortable with for a long time. Now that I've finally found that in Nier's scenario B, I don't want to play it! Does the game ever stop being so soul-crushing? It's cool if the answer is no! :P

Well, the story in scenario B made the main character sto be the biggest dickhead in the muilt-verse.

Seriously, is reading the subtitles that pain in the ass?
Would you watch a foreign movie or TV show in English dub?  I have friends from Spain who watch The Simpsons in Spanish and even they can't stand it and prefer to watch it in the native English with Spanish subtitles.
It makes no sense not to watch a movie or play a game in its native tongue and have subtitles.  Ever watched asian movies dubbed in English?  Makes you want to take an ice pick to your ears.  Now I'll admit some games were decent with the English dubbing, personally, the Final Fantasy series have been ok.
Personally, I think dubbing games can sometimes take away the some emotional experience.  Different tongues and expressions cannot be expressed the same way in every language.
Try watching a Chinese comedy in English dubbing, its not same because of speech pattern and tongue expressions.

I'm not saying don't dub in English (dub all you want for all I care), just don't remove the native language.

Am I asking too much?

NONONO hell no.  Most of the tales game have horrible dubs.  I watched 1 cs in english in Tales of the Abyss and it is pure torture.  I try the undub and never look back.  The only japan game that got decent dub is mgs series, and just maybe Suikoden V.
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Best (and Worst) Female Protagonists on: April 29, 2011, 06:59:45 PM
I am surprise that Tear from Tales of the Abyss didn;t made it in.  I think she is a pretty well done female protagonist.
