Thanks for writing that WildArms and I apologize for being as harsh as I was back.  I'd just like to say that the sexual content was not the reason for my score.  Gust made a lot of changes to this entry and I disliked a lot of them.  It didn't seem to measure up to past entries.  This was a hard review to write.  I don't like writing negative reviews, but I felt really letdown by the series.  As I've said, it just felt like a step back for it.  I still stand by that the script could have been stronger, some characters could have been more memorable, and I always push for a series to be better than its last offering.  I really hope you play the game and like it, I'm being honest here - I don't want you to feel as disappointed as I did.  There's nothing worse than anticipating a game and it just being as strong as it could have been.

Cool, thanks for understanding then!, and alright, i will be checking it out once i get it :)

Hello again, first of all, i gotta say i already talked with John through e-mails and cleared everything up, i would like to apologize Ms. Kim if what i said might made you feel insulted --That was not what i wanted do (John didnt told me to do this btw, just in case xD), as i said before, i like your reviews, and i thought (i may be wrong) that you didnt put as much attention as you put to other games, with this one. I'm not english native speaker so i might have missused some words.

Also, i wont take my word back with most of the things i said, but i respect your review, and that is all there is to it.

It seems there was some misunderstanding with what i said though... Regarding to what i said that a woman might not enjot as much as a man (the gender part of what i said). (even if this was the part that barely bothered me, but yeah, some people insulted me because they got the wrong opinion)

I gave that as an example, i said that she seemed to only focus on the sexual part of the game, and the only reason i can see why was that, may be because she is a woman (i might be wrong), i dont know how Ms. Kim is or how her tastes are, this is just the point of view of some guy that read the review. People really took that part in the wrong direction--the part i cared the less, what i wanted was a more fair review not based on asthetics and sexual innuendo, Ar Tonelicoīs story is bigger than what you can imagine, and it have a lot more aspects to enjoy.

When i talked about male/female thing, was to refer that is normal for some girls dont enjoy this part that much, but not because of that they should base all the review on that (again, my point of view, this was just my assumption, this is how i felt after reading the review, haven't played the game, and i really think that a guy wouldnt normally hold that much this part of the game). This was just my point of view after reading the review. Never said that women cant enjoy these kind of things. But i seriously think that a womanīs point of view is a lot different than a manīs, so this must influence even if its just a bit. And is ok, i just felt it was way too much (sorry im repeating myself, i really want to make this clear)

PLEASE dont take this on the wrong side either, this is just my point of view.

I might come again once i get the game to talk about how i felt when i played the game, ive read a lot that it isnt as good as the games before, but i guess i will find out soon.

Sorry if someone felt insulted with what i said, dont think i might come back that much to the forums after that anyhow.

And hi Magus, been a while :D

Right... I never said all your staff was bad, or they dont do a good job, i only said i liked Pat's reviews more, if that's a sin, then im a sinner, if i like a singer more than other, does this means the others are bad? No.

And insulting me won't change that either.... Either putting your rage at Ar Tonelico 3, the only thing i thought that was bad, is the review, is ok if you didnt liked the game, but if you are a good reviewer, you will just state things as they are, there are many, many interests in the world.

I also never said that Kim should change her Review, i just stated my point of view... I actually like some of her other reviews, for example, Ghost Trick was really well made. And there are many others...

*sigh* all this constant rage might by why i stop posting on these forums, if you cant take a little critique...
4  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ar tonelico 3 coming to the PS3 January 2010 on: March 11, 2011, 11:13:37 PM
sex innuendos (and is not that big of a deal anyway ._.)

Not that big of a deal, eh? Well, you don't happen to be a woman.

Exactly! As a reviewer, you should act as one, and not let personal stuff influence THAT much on reviews.

I mean, if i hear on a game that a crystal i way too big to fit a hole the revytail's have, and they start with the innuendos here, i, as a man, would probably laught a lot, but it might get a gamer woman on the bad side.

Of course, you should not be reading my review later on saying: "The innuendos were so great, i laughted so much!, it really made my day to read all that, i mean, it was just so crazy! haha!"

Should go more like "There exist a lot of sex innuendos in the game, for me, they were funny, but they may be way to dumb and simple for most people, they really focus this part more oriented to male players, so watch out at these parts"

I have never read a review in my life that was completely objective. They are opinions -- they're supposed to be. They will always be personal to some degree.

To be objective would be simply to state facts. If you want that, read a preview.

Be happy I didn't write the review.

That's not the point, preview is a preview, a taste of the game, not how the game is, go ahead and do the review, is not my fault there are not many good reviewers these days.
Read reviews like Wild Arms 2 from Pat, he loved the game, but he was objective enough to keep that away from his review.

As for the guy that posted the AT3 and the Eternal Sonata? screens, that doesn't change what i said does it? Yeah, the 3D graphics may not be great quality as others, but does this mean you will say they are bad?

" I didn't found the graphics of this game appealing at all, compared to other games i've played, the graphics of Ar Tonelico 3 are really low quality, i would recommend to check Screens before getting the game to see if they would appeal to you, but i really thing GUST could had done better"

There, a lot better than just saying "The graphics were "ugly" compared to what we have seen.
5  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ar tonelico 3 coming to the PS3 January 2010 on: March 11, 2011, 11:02:14 PM
nice to see WildArms posting again.

Anyway, 68% by RPGFan standards means a completely and utterly broken game. I find it hard to believe AR3 is that bad. Thing is, of course, that none of us has played the game yet, so challenging the review seems a bit silly at this point. All I know is that my pre-order can't get here soon enough.

Lol, haha it has been a while eh?, i've been really busy and found some other nice places to visit too, and i just had to come here again after reading that review, even if i don't post, i still check the page a lot :P

I'm with you, im also waiting for my game :D, but yeah, i've heard a LOT about the game from a friend that got the jp version.
I know im in no position to talk about the game yet, but reviews like this would really scare some people away without many valid reasons, and this of course, as a fan, makes me pretty sad-- wait no, makes me pretty mad. It didn't felt like a good review... And was way too short compared to others too, but i guess i pretty much mentioned what i felt in the post above.

As you can see in all i said, i just talked in a general form from all the games in ar tonelico. I mean... it kinda sucks to see a great story being ignored by going all the way (almost all the review) with sex innuendos (and is not that big of a deal anyway ._.) , or X girl wasnt of your liking, and as for repetitive dungeons, well, the first 2 ArTonelicos you had to backtrack at some places a lot too, so is nothing new in the games anyways, ....but i can understand this last part to be mentioned on a review.

All the good things i saw in the review was that there were "cameos" from characters of the other games... And they are not "cameos" =.=, for example Cocona (and other characters that appear there from older games) Had a reason in why they had to go to that tower (the third tower for us).... And finish their own stories/objectives there... I can't really call that "cameo"

And as for the recycled things... As with what i've seen, it doesnt seems there are many, but the same things that were in the games before and are now again, just makes Ar Tonelico games feel like Ar tonelico, changing that would be like changing phoenix down's name from all the final fantasies D:

But well, im so excited to get this game already!
6  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ar tonelico 3 coming to the PS3 January 2010 on: March 11, 2011, 09:41:11 PM
Review score was even lower than I expected.

Review score was exactly what I expected.. =/

A review you would expect from someone who seems to have a weird hate againts loli/cute anime girl characters, and that obviously barely know the world of ar tonelico... I mean, there were so many wrong things... I've never seen such a baseless and personal based review before, considering is a game with a huge, HUGE, background to look out for, im not expecting the reviewers to know everything about it's predecesors, but... there is a limit you know?
A gamer that has played the first two games would surely feel bad reading something as incomplete as that. Not meaning any offense, but it seems the reviewer is a woman right? i can imagine some parts on the game appealing even less just for this fact... (getting on with the sex innuendo too much?)

"On top of that, the tired JRPG "save the world" plotline is still present. (...). Unfortunately, in the developers' attempt to make the narrative accessible to newcomers, the main story doesn't have nearly as many connections to the past two games as I would have liked."

First of all, there is no world to save, they are in the last of the three towers left in the world that maintains the land afloat, stating "the world" simplifies things way too much, without giving out a lot of the complex part of Ar tonelico's story, this game is not just some girls taking out their clothes and being saved.

The main story of the ar tonelico games are hardly ever connected to the last game.

Saki destroys this game the same way Alfinia in Grandia III and Ryfia in Arc Rise Fantasia did for many. She looks like she's ten, talks like a baby in third person, pretends she's a cat, and is simply incapable of independent thought.

So yeah, you not liking a character's personality, means to give it a whole pharagraph of badmouthing..., when ar tonelico girl's characters are always weird, (for example Aurica from the very first game, so, sooo pesimist, Luca of the second game (simply a devil at some parts of the game)) I can understand if you hated a character, but that is not something you have to say on a review.

Maybe including an auto battle would have been nice for how repetitive these random battles can be

. . . .

Another disappointment is the addition of 3D graphics that just don't measure up to what we've seen on the PS3 - they're quite ugly

What we've seen? Or what you've seen?, can't you just say you didnt felt fond of the graphics, and ask the people reading to check screenshots to see if it appeals them? It really gives a bad mouth taste reading this...

Almost everything that Ar tonelico Qoga provides has been done before in a JRPG; the lack of original content and presence of overused content doesn't leave much to praise

Please tell me another rpg where there are singing women fighting alongside with you, that are not human, a world where there only exist 3 towers, wich give powers to the revytails, where you gotta get into their minds, and knowing a whole new side of them, where there are dialogues when you syntethise, GREAT SOUND, HYMNS (You just dedicated a line for this part!?), etc.... (or if you want me to get into your game, a JRPG where girls lose clothes as they gain power?, or where enemies are turned into cakes?)

And i dont even want to go on...

It's ok if you say you think this game is worst than it's predecesor... But seriously, there are better reasons to go for than these, all i felt while i was reading is that you didnt liked the game... Instead of giving a more objective view of it.

Anyway, this is just my point of view of the review, im not expecting for Ms. Kim to change it or anything, just stating my opinion, even if it may offend someone, i dont meant any offense, i just think reviewers should ne a little more conscious, considering there is actually people that may depend on that to know if they want to buy a game or not.

The only reviewer so far that has really made a good job has been Patrick.

Anyway, knowing these forums, flame me if you want, i seriously think this review is way too superficial and way too personal.

10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales studio facing financial problems? on: June 20, 2010, 05:11:05 PM
why namco bandai is ignoring most of them and going for dragon ball, naruto, cooking mama, etc?

Namco Bandai doesn't publish Cooking Mama anywhere.

Yeah sorry lol, is just that they released a cooking game recently and i just call it cooking mama, since they are most probably using its fame to sell this one xD i remmeber they had it on a while in the main's page;
I just checked, is called cook or be cooked o_o http://www.cookorbecooked.com/#/home anyway i wanted to focus more on the dragon ball and naruto, there was also a cheering game though...
11  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales studio facing financial problems? on: June 20, 2010, 03:42:41 PM

This is what namco bandai gets for not localizing so many potentially good tales of games, also re-releasing tales of graces must had been hard, again, this is what they get for rushing up to release it for christmas
This is one of the dumbest reasons I can see anyone think of. Traditionally, Tales games have sold abysmally in the States (with the one exception being Symphonia, because Gamecube had next to no RPGs at the time of release). I'd actually be surprised if they ever made any significant profit at all; I'd say they probably lose money from selling Tales games in the west. Fans like you constantly bitch and moan that Tales games never come over here but when one does they don't buy it - or they pirate them. They have nobody to blame but themselvs.

No, they didnt sell "abysmally" as you said, the only ones that sold badly were the portable ones, and if you say i "pirate" games and bitch about this just because one post, then i see why your little mind think they sold "abysmally", if i say this is because i buy them and also because i enjoy tales of games, why namco bandai is ignoring most of them and going for dragon ball, naruto, cooking mama, etc? is obviously because these mainstream games are easily sold to the masses, making them to win more money, easier than taking risk just to please a fan base, and i think this is totally wrong, for example thanks to Atlus always bringing the SMT series, ive always try to get any other game they release so i can support them, but now the only games i buy from Namco Bandai are the Naruto games, and just because i like Naruto.
12  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (3DS) on: June 20, 2010, 10:55:22 AM
Yeah! playing this game portable will be the best! and with 3D stuff! cant wait to get it D:

Zelda isn't an RPG get this to misc games immediately Eusis!

All i see is you "giving directions" to Eusis lately >_>, and the "creepy" thread http://www.rpgfan.com/boards/index.php?topic=7672.45 wasn't necessary to get locked, just because is "creepy"
13  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Neptune (PS3) Announced (Sorta) on: June 20, 2010, 10:54:00 AM
Neptune is a really original idea, and Agarest Wars wasnt that bad either, i think this one will be good and i dont care who is releasing it, if it called my attention, i will be checking it out
