New dev blog is up. Magitek armor mounts anyone? Goddamn, is that ever cool shit. Certainly have this on my radar still. The other few friends of mine who played with me / us are still on board, too, as a side note. Additionally, the Gate of Nald, which was originally sealed off, will be opened. Best change ever.

Damn, I'm only in the second area with my infrequent playing. Looking forward to the review, though!
What's everyone's party composition? I'm current running with Land / Fort / Dancer in the front and Night / Medic in the back. The Nightblade is 10 levels behind everyone else, though, but once he's caught up he'll be switching with the Fortress. My plan is basically to take advantage of links and chasers and multiple hits/attacks to do ridiculous damage with the front line while the Fortress draws the ire of enemies and protects everyone as much as possible and the Medic heals. It's been working out fairly well already, even with my very unfinished party.

5749 and 46.641 average FPS on High at 1680x1050. I want to see what killing shadows a bit will do to this.
5929 and 48.034 average FPS after lowering a few shadow settings and grass quality... not really much difference, haha.
Where ya been hiding Sol? Did you get into beta? Have a bunch of Reunion folks from 1.0 getting together for the test. You game? I'm still here lurking around the boards every day, hahaha. If I had got into the Beta, I'd be game, but I sadly did not :( Perhaps in a future wave!

I share you guys' pain :( I put a nice ~4 hours or so into it. Not exactly sure how much because of leaving it idle on and off for a bit. But yeah, really looking forward to the full game now. Few weeks away, bleh!

I bought a lovely purple 3DS today and just finished playing through the demo. Everyone was level 7 by the time I got to the stairs down. I definitely dig the improvements from Etrian Odyssey 2, which was the last one that I played. Otherwise, it's the same good stuff that I was expecting in all sectors. I'll very likely be purchasing this once it comes out. I really appreciate how demo progress will carry over, too. Very well done demo.

It's really not a difficult game. I'm shit at action games (such as the aforementioned Devil May Cry), but I can play Dark Souls just fine. It's a much slower and less frantic game. The only learning curve is knowledge, really. Learning the areas of the game and their pitfalls, learning the enemies and their patterns, learning your own attacks and such, learning the best ways to stat and gear for your playstyle and so on. I truly don't get why people call this hard unless they try to play it like God of War or something and refuse to just fucking think about what they're doing, in which case it makes sense, since they'll be slaughtered. That all probably sounds just a touch condescending and/or arrogant, but the repeated outcries of this game's difficulty are frankly ridiculous.
As a small side note, something like parrying does require precise timing, but it's entirely unnecessary, as awesome as it may be.

Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Guild Wars 2 Server Selection

Just so you folks are aware, there's a guesting feature (which will be active after the period of free server transfer ability at launch ends) that allows you to visit and play with friends on other servers. So, beyond guilds and WvWvW, you'll be able to play the game with anyone, regardless of their server.
You also won't be able to create characters on multiple servers, I don't believe. Your account is tied to a single server as your home server. But, again, it largely won't matter due to what I mentioned above.

*bump*
it's 60% off right now in a "flash sale" -- for the next 5 hours, only $8 instead of $20. Get on it.
Just bought it! Oath is only $5.09, so I might end up getting that too before this whole sale ends... (edit: just went ahead and bought it because it's all of five bucks) Is there any reason at all to play one before the other? Due to gameplay mechanics improving or something, perhaps? Nothing before Felghana. You'd get more out of Origin by playing SOME version of Ys I and II first (preferably Chronicles on PSP). But Origin and Felghana don't influence one another. Personally I'd play Felghana first. It's shorter (esp since it's only one character). The advice and info is appreciated. I went with Felghana before I read this post. Glad that I ended up making the right choice, haha. Enjoying myself so far playing on normal. Bosses sure do have a learning curve to them, which I am liking. Only at the final boss of the first dungeon, though.
