The Rest / General Discussions / Re: XBOX: A New Generation Revealed, May 21st

I'm am optimistic for the WiiU...mainly because who the fuck is seeing the money and sales besides a core few companies to develop on something as massive and capable as the PS4/NextBox
I remember when the 3DS was doing badly and we thought it wouldn't end well and look at it now. I love mine. WiiU may do the same. I remember console reveals when I was a kid. Such a period of hope and excitement that'd last years from initial pictures and specs to me playing it. Now I'm curious as to what crap will be on it that I don't like and will piss me off.
Haha this is me 100%. I like the stuff about the PS4 as well so far. If the next Xbox changes how Xbox Live works, I may come back around.

Instead of taking some risks(like a huge, fabulous remake of FF6 for PS4, for example)
Japanese businesses in general play it too safe. Too much group thinking. I'm curious way down the road how things, broadly speaking and not necessarily about SE or the Japanese video game industry, turn out.

I don't mind the minimalistic story approach as long as the gameplay is fun and there's at least some story that you can find in some sort of fashion that drives things forward. Sometimes those kind of games where you can just log on and do fun things without things like story getting in the way are the ones I play the most.
I really miss game rental shops. Might just have to man up and buy it because it does look interesting.

I tried Rift sometime last year and didn't really care much for it. I think it was more that I was burnt out on leveling new characters in MMOs than the game itself, but it did give me the same sense of leveling grind (as well as deja vu) the other games have. I would say I'd give it another go, but I'd really like to give FF14:ARR a fair shake when it comes out this summer.
Some people were complaining fairly recently that things were going well for awhile after Storm Legion (the expansion) but a lot of key people in the company left and new content was coming out too slowly. I'm curious if the dearth of new content is because they are getting ready for the F2P transition?
I'm surprised they lasted so long without an expansion. I know there were quite a bit of raids pre-SL which probably was challenging/daunting to new players.

If I buy the regular version for cheap to try it out, am I missing out on anything great? Obviously the new dungeon, but classes? gameplay changes?
Also sad face that this isn't on Steam.

You are correct. Standard Tales, only online. It would be glorious .
I assume he meant doing standard Tales multiplayer, just online. Which frankly sounds like a good idea to me.
Unless the game was completely built around the idea of multi-player, I don't see it working well. Even between Tales Fans, everyone likes to do things differently. Some like to explore towns and dungeons some go straight to the objective. Some like to talk to townspeople and read the text some mash skip. I can't imagine people would want to sit and watch until you get to a dungeon where you can hop in on a fight once and awhile. I understand where you guys are coming from, I just don't see it unless major changes were made.

Office girl at work is pissing me off. She's waits until the day before she needs healthcare to tell me she wants to sign up for it. I tell her there's no way I can get her on it that fast or even remotely fast without costing her extra because of how it's billed. And because I didn't explain every detail months ago how that worked (which she never asked about), she acts like I'm somehow the badguy even though there's nothing I can do about it and she's the one who waited until the last minute to sign up.

Also, when are they going to add online play to the Tales series? All my Tales buddies live in different states.
I'm not sure what they could add that would be a worthwhile addition. Multi-player boss rush?

Kara palms elude me.
SMT: SH - Tire factory boss was kinda difficult. There was probably some trick with Nemissa that I wasn't doing right, but I kept dying. I just said fuck it and turned down the difficulty. I don't know what to do with all the different things you can do with your demons. Trade them, turn them into swords, get items from them. Just fight for me man (though the swords do look like they could be useful).

I see. I didn't know I could join mutiple guilds. Are there any benefits to it? I believe I can't represent multiple guilds at once right? So what does representing a guild does?
Benefits of joining multiple guilds is that you aren't tied down to any particular guild. If you want to switch on the fly to play with guild X that has real life friends without leaving Guild Y, you can. And you are correct, you cannot represent more than one guild at once. IIRC representing guild can give you certain bonuses while playing, but I'm not sure. Someone else will need to explain that.

I sorta got burned out on Saints Row by playing SR3 too much, but man that looks all kinds of awesome.
Between GTA5 and this, there's gonna be a lot of open world competition later this year. I guess you could throw Watch Dogs in there too since it's open world (but different) as well.

sometimes you're ill and the doctor can't see you till a few days later or the next week....when you're already over said illness or flat-out dead.
Doesn't sound that different than here in the US, really.
