Can you assemble legos?  Then you can build a PC.  It's about equally difficult.

That said, building it yourself is only cheaper if you're planning on putting a free OS like Linux on it or you already have a Windows license from somewhere else you can use for it.  If you find yourself actually having to pay full retail price for a copy of Windows (which is hundreds of dollars) then forget it.  OEMs don't pay anywhere near that for their Windows licenses.  It's a very one-sided system...

For me, I would just be afraid I would fuck something up installing it.  I looked up the prices of all the parts on Amazon and Newegg and, assuming I got free shipping on everything from Amazon and Newegg, I think going with them cost me about $70 more.  Considering my hesitation with building anything myself, it was worth it to me.

Wasn't aware about the Windows price disparity.  Interesting.  I didn't have any windows 7 keys at the time since I was coming from a mac and before that was using linux.

1. All of the sites that let you order a custom PC are kind of dodgy looking.
2. Quality pre-built PCs are expensive.
3. I don't really have a clue how to build a PC.

I'd be way better off getting a PS3 or a 360.

Yeah I don't know why but I had trouble finding a good company too.  Originally all I could find were like Cyberpower/ibuypower (same?) but read too many horror stories.  However, here are two amazing ones:

I bought from Digital Storm - http://www.digitalstormonline.com and got my friend to buy from here and we both think they're fantastic.  Good support if you end up needing it.  Prices are pretty good (or were when I bought there), but ofc building it yourself is cheaper but you said you don't know how and neither did I.  Can either go completely custom and pick what you want (they'll offer suggestions too, if you ask) or go for one of their prebuilt ones (which are pretty good as well).  Either way they stress test the PCs for like 48-72 hours straight to try and weed out any defective parts.  They also don't put any stupid shit on your windows so it's pretty much stock/OEM Windows.

Puget Systems - http://www.pugetsystems.com/

Didn't buy from them but they appear to be just as solid as digital storm.  They stress test their systems as well and looks to be like a good place to buy.  The only reason I did not go with them was because when I built the same system here as I did on digital storm, it ended up being a bit more expensive.

I played it about a month ago for about an hour and I had enough.

Between the devspeaks and the 1 hour of playtime, I pretty much could tell it was going to be awesome.  I love the cartoony art.  The gameplay is fun.  PvP is fun.  They definitely still need to get some optimization stuff in there these last few weeks before launch but not a huge deal if they don't (just somewhat disappointing).  The new UI is so much better than the old one. The only thing I wasn't crazy about is the questing.  It's standard MMO questing but with the telecommunications aspect, quests kind of blur together and get a bit confusing.

Depends on your tastes and preferences.  First of all, I'd recommend the Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy over either of those.  I'll (not) briefly profile all three to give you an idea.

I've played the PS2 ones and 2 of the PS3 ones.  Fantastic games but definitely burnt out on the series.
20  Media / General Games / Jax & Daxter VS Sly Cooper on: April 14, 2014, 04:18:01 PM
Been craving something new to play after recently finishing Infamous: SS, Castlevania LoS2, and South Park so I looked around and saw both Jax & Daxter and Sly Cooper both have anniversary editions with multiple titles in them.  I don't know much about either of them outside of some youtube videos and the fact that they were PS2 platformer games.  Soooo... questions!

-Should I start with the collections and move onto recent titles later or start with the newer and go older? Not sure if Jax and Daxter have a new ps3 game out or not so this might only apply to Sly Cooper.

-Any particular games within the collection I should avoid?

-I'm not necessarily opposed to getting both, but if you personally could only pick one to play between J&D and Sly, which one would you choose and why?

Dice posted it before, but I think it may have gone unnoticed.

22  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Youtube on: November 11, 2013, 06:47:54 PM
I had a youtube account before Google acquired Youtube. But I've been prodded and prodded and now forced to join Google+ to continue to comment. If it's no big deal to you, that's fine, I don't really care. I still have the right to get annoyed at stupid shit they do though, because I certainly don't owe them anything because I use their "service". They get plenty out of each of us linking back to Youtube, watching their ads, knowing the brand name etc. Forcing me to join a bunch of peripheral shit is annoying and invasive.

So, right now, I'm getting pop-ups saying join us at Google+ or "Why don't you use your REAL NAME for a change, c'mon, this pop up will keep appearing until you doooo" or whatever to comment. I do that, I can comment now, but I have a shitty empty profile linked to my email that is doing nothing but making Google feel better about their failed social media website. How long is it going to be before I start getting pop ups saying "Oh, we see you haven't filled out your About Me section yet! Why don't you come on over and fill that out". "Oh, no picture? No comments for you until we see a picture, bozo."

Even if I just type "aphigeodibngsodlgnoswgbkn" in the about me section and then upload a picture of a generic gaming character as a picture, I'm still getting hassled over stupid shit. It's anti-consumer.

Does this sum up your feelings?

On the other hand grove city is sort of charming.

Grove City is an awesome town.  The Spanish restaurant near the outlets is really good.

On top of that, I'm locked out of my PSN account.

It will not accept the password for my account even though it will accept via PC.

Yay modern gaming!

Did you change passwords?  If so, you have to log completely out of all PS3/PSN accounts on your PS3 and then log back in.

You realize that the amount of visine, or more specifically the active ingredient Tetrahydrozoline HCL 0.05, needed to cause most of those effects would be something like an entire bottle. And yes, poisoning someone in any regard is poisoning someone regardless, but theft is theft in the same regard. Not saying fight fire with fire, but even animals will stop eating food if it gets them sick. Besides,it's a lot safer than me finding out who ate my food, it may lead to brain damage and heart failure as I beat my lunch out of them.

Seriously though, poison someone at your own risk.

^^Then you probably shouldn't have written "you can't get in trouble for it. Not like you intetionally [sic] poisoned a co-worker".  Also, you don't need a whole bottle to make someone sick.

"In June 2006, five Wisconsin high school students trying to pull the Visine prank poured about a quarter of a bottle of the eyedrops into a classmate's water. The victim spent several days in the hospital recovering from reactions to the poisoning that included a dangerously low heart rate and blood pressure. Each of the five "pranksters" pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct and received sentences of 18 months' probation and 60 hours of community service"

It's difficult to say how much damage 3-5 drops could do to someone due to varying factors, but it's still stupid and reckless considering even a light hospital bill costs $432423809890534534 dollars in this country.

I have a slight suggestion...

Put visine in the food before you put it in the fridge. Obviously you can't eat it, but you'll find the culprit when they make a full on sprint to the bathroom from the super diarrhe shit threatening to fly out of their anus. Plus, you can't get in trouble for it. Not like you intetionally poisoned a co-worker, you just added some medicine to your own food and they had a reaction to it.

I realize that Wedding Crashers make it out to be fairly harmless, but ingesting Visine can cause renal failure (kidney failure) as well as other very serious health effects.   And yes, you can get in deep shit for it.  The police will look at it as if you poisoned your food knowing that someone else was going to eat your food instead of yourself, thus they will argue that you intentionally poisoned someone as people generally don't mess with food they intend to eat themselves.
28  Media / General Games / Re: Grand Theft Auto V on: September 20, 2013, 04:51:04 PM
I'm loving GTA5.  PS3 release has been great for me since PC isn't out yet.  Probably thanks to huge install file, no doubt.

Anyone else feel like the police are way less on your ass than in IV?  Anyways, the driving is certainly 100x better.

Definitely and as far as I'm concerned, it's much better than previously.  This is how I always wished it would be done since GTA3 on PS2.  You get far enough ahead, you can try and hide until the heat wears away instead of just trying to outrun them endlessly until they give up.  I like this way much much more.

Yodes and I are going to be quite the team for GTA Online.

Ah you're totes right.  Reading comprehension fail.  For some reason I thought they deleted ALL the stuff he downloaded/purchased digitally.

Wait how can nintendo force-delete your games? I mean I could see revoking your rights to redownload them, but wiping them off your system? That's way intrusive as fuck.

I mean just curious but couldn't Nintendo intentionally brick your system/otherwise lock you out of it if they were upset with you about something?

If any of those were recent purchases, I'd try a chargeback.  Probably wouldn't work but would be worth a shot.
