When I clicked on the thread, I thought you'd be trashing the game. I guess not.  heh

I play as Judith often as well.  Air combo 1+2 and the skill that gives 1.2 damage to airborne enemies is hot.  I wish I was able to do the questline for Judith's spear (the one she lost at Ghasafarost) since it gives you Air combo 3, which I can only assume would be 3 more leet air attacks.  It's the 2nd best spear in the game iirc, second only to her fell weapon.

Anyone else try controlling any other characters besides Judith or Yuri?  I'm considering trying out Repede since it seems like he could be a beast (no pun intended) when controlled correctly with the right artes assigned.

Ok I have a question for you: I'm willing to spend about $1000 or a little less for a HDTV in my room where I primarily play games on my PS3 and X360, but I watch alot of movies as well. What would you recommend?

LCDs - Sharp Aquos or Samsung

Plasma - Pioneer or Panasonic

Not sure about DLPs or any kind of hybrid.
2238  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Re: What TV to get? on: September 18, 2008, 03:50:05 PM
720p is about the same as 1080i.  1080p is better than both, but isn't always used.

1080p isn't worth it, like Adapheon said, unless you are buying a big TV 40-42"+ or you sit very close to the screen (which you shouldn't do anyway).

Samsung and Sony LCD's are great, but they are pricier than others.  Samsung you can generally find good deals with and they aren't too bad, but Sony (specifically Sony Bravias) tend to be a lot more expensive for their size.  If I were to buy another TV I'd personally go with Samsung or a Sharp Aquos. Both are good TVs as well.

Plasmas are good as well, but you need to do your research a bit before you buy.

As far as DLPs, I remember reading that they were supposed to be great, but they were too expensive at the time.  If the price came down like dasch said it did, and you find a good model, it might be worth buying.  I dont know a lot about DLPs so you'll have to research it on avs or something

You can't go too wrong with any kind of TV as long as you do a little research.  Best buy, Amazon, and to some extent Circuit City all have tons of user reviews about TVs and can be very helpful

Sadly the wow official site and wowhead both have discrepancies in different classes talent trees.  I wonder which one is the most up to date one?

WoWhead's version for warriors has some great talents that would be awesome.  Charge in any stance mid-battle? Fuck yeah! Spell reflect working on 2 closest allies?  Neat.  Too bad that's not on worldofwarcraft.com, but I hope that one just isn't as up to date.

I think I will probably end up leveling my priest mainly, which I prefer pieces of both WoWhead and the official site talent builds.  I guess 3.0 will be coming out very soon, we'll know for sure then I guess.

Yeah, I think a RvR realm would be fine.  I don't get what they mean by "tier areas", but apparently you can only go to the tier directly below you without getting chickened.  Kinda curious what "tier areas" mean.  Is it a level bracket?  Or an area (ex:  elwynn forest = tier 1, westfall = tier 2, redridge mountains = tier 3, etc)?
2241  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Depression after finishing games. on: September 12, 2008, 06:42:08 PM
Hm, when I was younger I may have been like that too (somewhat depressed).  Now a days, like others here, I do enjoy finishing games and it gives me a sense of satisfaction to have finished it since I don't always get to finish my games due to time constraints.

Persona 3 was an exception though.  Loved that game, was sad when it ended for multiple reasons.

Arch Enemy - Leader of the Rats

Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine.

It's decent.  I needed something new to listen to and it was cheap at the store.
2244  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of Vesperia or Infinate Undiscovery (or neither?) on: September 12, 2008, 12:38:20 PM
I haven't played more than an hour into Infinite Undiscovery, but I say definitely pick up TOV. In my opinion, the best current gen rpg there is, and yeah... I'll say it... the best game in the series.

I was AMAZED to see Adam Sessler give Tales Of Vesperia a 4/5 rating on X Play.

Why do you say that?

Sessler has admitted himself that he hates RPGs and just by watching the show, you can easily tell X-Play has a major bias towards JRPGs.

That's what I was thinking as well.  I am not a major fan of the show and don't watch it often anymore, but the only RPGs I recall him giving out praise for were SMT: Nocturne and DDS1+2.  Even the original Persona 3 only got 3/5 (Fes got 4/5).

On topic:  Have bought IU, but haven't played it yet.  Waiting to finish Tales of Vesperia.  From the reviews IU got (even the positive ones), I'd say play ToV first for sure.
2245  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: NHL 09 on: September 12, 2008, 12:26:59 PM
NHL '09!  Wow, the "be a pro" mode is insanely fun.  I started up with my character playing for Montreal's AHL team, the Bulldogs, and got me a hat-trick. yay.  I'll be spending a lot of time with this. Best hockey game ever!

When you do Be a Pro mode offline, are there still line changes?  Or are the same lines always on (meaning you're always on as well)?

Towards the end in Tales of Vesperia.  Might be at the final dungeon.. need some confirmation.

spoilers:
Code:
Is the Tower of Zaude or whatever the final dungeon?
Just curious since the game is making it out to be the final dungeon and if it is,
I want to do all the sidequests while I still can (whatever the quests are)

I can't get enough of the Item World in Disgaea 3.  It's weird, cause I hated it in the first game.  But now...  I just grind.  And it's great.  I'm currently grinding out a falchion so I can exploit killing things quicker.  I read a nice trick to get Mao to level 9999 in four attacks.  ...But that's awhile off.  :P

4 attacks?  Man that's kinda lame.  I actually ENJOY grinding in that game sometimes.  I know it's mindless and repetitive, but still I enjoy it for some reason.  I could just /not/ use the trick, but it might be too tempting to resist =p

I do not attract drama! Take that back!

No shit, you'd actually have to log on to cause drama.  :P

Speaking of drama (aside from Drama Magnet, that is!), word on the street is that the Something Awful goons rolled Destruction on our server.  That could well explain the complete and utter domination Order has been experiencing. :P

In that case I propose either a switch to another server.....or we just admit that we're gonna be assraped all the time.

I can't imagine the something awful goons would roll on a Normal/non-pvp server as their final destination on the retail copy.  Probably nothing to worry about (but I could be wrong).
2248  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Tales of Vesperia - Special Edition on: September 09, 2008, 01:02:06 PM
Well, Halo 3 had a lot of parts from Halo 1 and 2, yet it still got Game of the Year in a lot of places.  I'm fine with how skits are as well.  Voice acting was nice to have this time around on the US release and I'm fine with it not being full animated.  Some reviewers gave it shit for having "an ugly overworld (worldmap)".  Personally, I think Vesperia has one of the more beautiful world maps considering world maps were never meant to be the shining beacons of graphical prowess anyway.

Grade spamming with Rita right now for 500 grade per battle.... it takes so long, but not that its better than going battle to battle.
Especially with Grade prices as high as they are this time around.

Whoa, interesting.  How do you purchase stuff with grade and is there anything worthwhile?  I always heard about that in Abyss and I think Symphonia but never knew how to do it.
2249  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Valve invites Sony to play TF2, Sony wins 6-0 on: September 08, 2008, 09:43:20 PM
Valve should have set the matches on the handful of maps that have been playable on the PC for awhile yet still not available on the PS3.  The consoles need some patch love for sure.

Once a few more battle elements are included later in the game, the number will go up to 0-2
