Towards the end in Tales of Vesperia.  Might be at the final dungeon.. need some confirmation.

spoilers:
Code:
Is the Tower of Zaude or whatever the final dungeon?
Just curious since the game is making it out to be the final dungeon and if it is,
I want to do all the sidequests while I still can (whatever the quests are)

I can't get enough of the Item World in Disgaea 3.  It's weird, cause I hated it in the first game.  But now...  I just grind.  And it's great.  I'm currently grinding out a falchion so I can exploit killing things quicker.  I read a nice trick to get Mao to level 9999 in four attacks.  ...But that's awhile off.  :P

4 attacks?  Man that's kinda lame.  I actually ENJOY grinding in that game sometimes.  I know it's mindless and repetitive, but still I enjoy it for some reason.  I could just /not/ use the trick, but it might be too tempting to resist =p

I do not attract drama! Take that back!

No shit, you'd actually have to log on to cause drama.  :P

Speaking of drama (aside from Drama Magnet, that is!), word on the street is that the Something Awful goons rolled Destruction on our server.  That could well explain the complete and utter domination Order has been experiencing. :P

In that case I propose either a switch to another server.....or we just admit that we're gonna be assraped all the time.

I can't imagine the something awful goons would roll on a Normal/non-pvp server as their final destination on the retail copy.  Probably nothing to worry about (but I could be wrong).

Well, Halo 3 had a lot of parts from Halo 1 and 2, yet it still got Game of the Year in a lot of places.  I'm fine with how skits are as well.  Voice acting was nice to have this time around on the US release and I'm fine with it not being full animated.  Some reviewers gave it shit for having "an ugly overworld (worldmap)".  Personally, I think Vesperia has one of the more beautiful world maps considering world maps were never meant to be the shining beacons of graphical prowess anyway.

Grade spamming with Rita right now for 500 grade per battle.... it takes so long, but not that its better than going battle to battle.
Especially with Grade prices as high as they are this time around.

Whoa, interesting.  How do you purchase stuff with grade and is there anything worthwhile?  I always heard about that in Abyss and I think Symphonia but never knew how to do it.

Valve should have set the matches on the handful of maps that have been playable on the PC for awhile yet still not available on the PS3.  The consoles need some patch love for sure.

Once a few more battle elements are included later in the game, the number will go up to 0-2
2241  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: NHL 09 on: September 08, 2008, 02:19:14 PM
The online part sounds amazing.  I'm not sure how 6v6 would work out since controlling the goalie has been fairly awkward since the NHL games from the Sega Genesis NHL series.  I'd prefer 5v5 personally but it still sounds absolutely awesome.  That gives me incentive to put some effort into hooking my 360 up to XBOX live.

I wonder how they'll handle people who disconnect during the game (either on purpose or not).  Replace with a computer controlled player or is the team short handed?  It sounds good on paper but I'm wondering how the actual product will be.

The annual releases of sports games destroyed my love for them whilst I was still a child. I miss when sports games were as good as Mutant League Football. Sadly, that is but a memory now. :(

Oh man I remember playing Mutant League Football on Sega Channel when I was a wee lad.  Good stuff.

What has changed in NHL 09 compared to NHL 08?  I hope they at least took out the fucking ridiculous catch up mode that it had during season games (or at least made it optional on/off).  If they did NOTHING else but make that change, it would be a worthwhile purchase to me.  Hopefully some random stuff for dynasty mode was fixed.  I hated not being able to see the NHL scoreboard and see who won/lost.  I could have also sworn that there a catchup function in the points leaderboard during season mode.  One of my players had an unusually high amount of points at the end of the season and yet, there were a lot of others that high as well.  Could be completely wrong about that though (i don't remember how many points he had).

Hopefully some of the display bugs are fixed too.

Looks great.  Very interested to see how the regular site turns out.  Can't wait for the RSS feed.

Tales of Vesperia -

After the night  meeting with Belius...

Code:
Flynn is a colossal fag and he's grinding on my nerves a lot.  The whole boat escape really pissed me off.  Ok Judith doesn't like Blastia, but what the fuck bitch you destroyed the power to our boat and fucked us over JUST because you like destroying it?  Pissed me the fuck off because I liked using Judith (I went back and forth between controlling her and Yuri) and she's gone for the time being (forever maybe, dunno).  Really made no sense that the empire didn't chase us.. especially just sitting in the water all night.

END RANT

The way the plot is setup, it wouldn't be too uncommon for people not to have seen the outside world.

I'm 10 hours in and still can't figure out the Skill system for some reason

They could have made the equipped skills stand out a tad more than the non-equipped skills to distinguish the two better, but if you play around in the skills menu you'll figure it out.  If a pop-up occurs when you open the skill menu on certain characters, it means some skill is already in-use on your equipment and you're wasting skill points having it also equipped in the skills menu.  I personally have only seen one "symbol" so far.  I haven't played around with the skills to see what I can get though, I just go for the most useful ones.

I'm about 13 hours or so into ToV right now and my characters are in the mid 20's levels. I'm having some slight problems setting up my battle strategies lately and the whole "Fatal Strike" thing is eluding me. I haven't gotten to use it once and I have no idea why. Otherwise i'm continuing to enjoy the game. Karol is rather annoying though.

You're probably killing the enemies too fast to use fatal strikes.

Rita does a good job of getting their bar low the fastest.  If you are unsure of what bar i'm talking about, you can see it when you pick your enemies with the RB button.

Interesting.  I have no sources, it's just something I looked up awhile back and thought I found an answer for.  Maybe it's the external harddrive that you can't play games from since I was looking to buy one of those for the xbla games I like.  Could be wrong about that as well (which would be nice, since I'd like to play a few arcade games without using the memory card)

I wonder how many times this thread will get recycled?

It seems like it comes up every 2-3 months.

To answer your question, the DS reigns supreme to me.

JP

Yeah it is starting to get old.

A lot of forums make stickies for stuff like that (system questions like this or "what rpg should i play next?").  Not really the 'Fan's style, but could help.

I agree with the others.  For now, definitely go 360 and DS.  I'm still waiting on the PS3 personally due to cash restraints, but it might be a worthwhile investment depending on your tastes in games.

look better?  That sounds similar to me like someone trying to tell you monster cables will make your games/movies look better than a $5 HDMI cable.

Could be wrong though.  Maybe the draw distance is better but I'm guessing it's not.

To be fair, most people don't buy Monster cables for the so-called 'visual experience', but because your pets don't have a damned chance of harming them or themselves.

Really?  I never really thought about it that way.  I'm not a pet owner at the moment so what makes them good for people with pets? Extra thickness so you can't chew through them?
