Very much considering it even though Trials and Tribulations kinda spoiled Maya's home village case.  It's $12 used at my local gamestop so I may pick it up when DQ4 or ToV comes out

When I first bought trials and tribulations, for some reason I thought that trials and tribulations was the 2nd game (but I should have known that I was wrong because I know Olga Von Freizenska is in the 2nd one).

Also was hoping my friend would be able to loan me the 2nd one and save $12, but apparently when he moved out, his mom loaned his games to her co-worker and he hasn't been able to get them back since (or that one is missing).

Finished Phoenix Wright 1 and 3.  Great stuff (yeah I skipped 2).

Playing FF4.  A lot better than I expected.  Rubicante is being a bitch.

Looking forward to the gluttony of RPGs coming soon.  Need cash to support my love of Disgaea by buying a PS3 for Disgaea 3.  Probably won't be playing it on launch day, which sucks (but it comes out same day as Tales of Vesperia so I would be torn between what to play anyway).

Last night, I read some posts in /v/ where a few people, without trolling, were saying Sephiroth is the most evil villain in any game ever... Sephiroth standing in the flames was NOT COOL it is CLICHED AS FUCK.

But was it cliched when it was released back whenever?  and holy shit, FF7 came out about 2 years after the PSX was released?  I thought they were released around the same time, but never really bothered to check.  I guess not surprising, since the only thing I read around that age was Nintendo Power =P

Overall I agree though about the anime related things.  I don't get the Tales and Fire Emblem hate though from Levyiur, but it's probably because I don't touch forums except this one with a 10 foot pole so I don't see the retarded fanbase.

I used to shy away from popular things.  Now I don't care I guess.  As for FF7, I enjoyed the music and I enjoyed how the gameplay was mixed up and fun (At that time, I was coming from SNES games, so it was a nice change overall).

However you feel about the game itself, I agree that it's fandom at its worst.  That and anime fans.

I still refuse to call myself a gamer, just 'someone who likes games.' Generally to me, the term gamer is derogatory, since I've come to associate it with mouthbreathing idiots like the GameFAQs people you've just outlined.

You mean the people that, even before the FF13 Xbox 360 announcement, filled up 90+ and 250+ pages of topics on Gamefaqs with such little info about the game?  Yeaahhh....

The lack of one for Flynn seems to imply that he's not playable, or at least, not playable for any meaningful amount of time.  That makes him taking the majority of the boxart even more hilarious, if that's the case.

Finally!  Glad you said it.
I believe there are screen around of him playable.  But the talk on the net is more about when and for how long (if not a ToV version of Asch)

I'm not saying there aren't any screenshots of Flynn playable, but I've yet to run across one.  I've looked through a lot of screenshots and I've yet to see one with him playable in it (when looking through them, I always look to see if Flynn is in any battles).

I'm in the same boat as Parn: if he's playable, it may not be for some time.  Kinda like Leo in Lunar: EB.

..and I like both boxarts.  I already put my pre-order down and if I can change it to the LE and recover my deposit, I will.
2300  Media / Single-Player RPGs / i'm usually not one to complain about rpg stories but.... on: May 29, 2008, 06:44:19 PM
Yeah, I really didn't like Grandia 3 that much either even though I actually did finish it.  Even though I try to focus on the positive things about games (I bought it to enjoy, not to bitch about), there are certain games where the creators make it difficult.  This was definitely one of those games.  Overall I'd probably call it on par with most western RPGs, save Kotor (which was awesome).
2301  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Monk in FFXII? on: May 29, 2008, 12:47:06 AM
You can try getting a cat ear's hood from the hunter ranking vendor.  That boosted the dagger damage up a lot and I can assume it would do the same with bare fists.  Other than that, this is a question that would get a better answer at gamefaqs.

Ive watched tidbits here and there on AS.  My main problem with these types of shows is that they go on FOREVER.  I mean im not even against filler episodes, but when you have so many plus story episodes that you end up getting into the 200s of episode numbers, it just starts to drive me nuts.  Just to many episodes and it just gets to damn obnoxious.

That's why I liked Flame of Recca a lot.  As far as I can remember, there is only one "villian", Kurenai.

There definitely are some shows out there that could have been better series if they weren't milked so long.

Unless you've been farming BT for awhile but just stuck on Illidan, chances are your guild as a whole won't have the gear required for Sunwell yet.  My friends guild on my server was in the same position and Sunwell was like a brick wall. Good luck though seriously.

Anyone still play on Shadowsong anymore?  I've been leveling an alt with a real life friend on that server and was curious if anyone was still on there.

I'd say Xbox for sure. There are already numerous RPGs both Western and Eastern for the system, and there are plenty more to come. The PS3 might be getting some in the future, but then maybe you'll have enough money to afford one (once they lower the ridiculous price).

the 40GB PS3 is $50 more than the Xbox 360 Pro; for that cost, the consumer gets:

Wireless internet built in ($100 extra on Xbox 360)
Rechargable batteries built-in to the controller ($20/controller for Xbox 360)
Blu-ray (Equivalent before death of HD-DVD, $180 on Xbox 360)
Free Online Service ($8/mo or $50/yr on Xbox 360)

I will say that there are a couple of things that you get with the 360 bundle that are not included with the PS3, most notably:

Component Cables ($25 extra on PS3)
Wired Headset ($20-30 extra on PS3)

Are you seriously saying that the $50 difference in hardware is outrageous in comparison to the amount of addons for the Xbox 360?

Considering you can get a HDMI cable for 6 dollars and HDMI>Component, I don't know if that's really a plus for the 360.  The inclusion of wireless adapter is a huge plus to me, considering at the moment, getting my 360 online without a wireless adapter means running wires across the room (which right now, is not an option).  It's an inclusion that's something to think about.  Not to mention, you could buy the cheapest PS3 and switch out the hard drive yourself (very easy and doesn't void any warranties).  Yeah, you lose backward compatibility, but that's a small price to pay (for me).

It's also worth keeping in mind that the 360 has sold substantially more consoles in the US which means that a higher percentage of the JRPGs for the system are likely to get released in the US. We can already see this in the fact that Atlus has 3 Strategy/RPGs scheduled to be released in the US for the 360 this year and zero titles for the PS3 at the moment.

Isn't Atlus releasing Nippon Ichi's Disgaea 3 for ps3?

Not to mention, Spectral Force 3 for the 360 looks like shit overall. Nothing more than a generic anime SRPG.  Even if Disgaea 3 is not included, the other two RPGs being released don't look that promising.

Well first off, I already have a PS3 so i'm all good with getting a port for ToV (and of course, Eternal Sonata). Second off, I'm learning Japanese so odds are i'll be able to understand most of it (it's that fucking Kanji I just don't get), i'm decent with Katakana and I'd say i'm mediocre at Hiragana. So therefore, importing Jap games for the PS3 (or the DS for that matter) will not be much of a problem for me. And third off? I love Tales!!

If you're mediocre at hiragana I'm gonna take a wild guess that you won't be able to understand 99% of what is said in the game.  If you want to know what's going on, you're going to be breaking out the dictionary every second to see what x word means.  That won't be fun.

Quote from: "Eusis"
Then again, neither is getting a $300-ish console for one game.

Come this August (hopefully), I have no qualms with buying a PS3 solely for Disgaea 3 because I love it that much.  Of course, the Ratchet and Clank game has been out for awhile and there is bound to be others... but still.

I tried looking up on gamefaqs how to mix some Personas, as I was looking for specific ones, but some of the mixtures didn't give me the results I wanted! Have they changed some of the combinations between P3 and P3 Fes?

Did you do all the fusion quests from Elizabeth?  Often you need to do certain quests with her before you can fuse certain persona.

I'm almost done with Persona 3.  In fact, the only thing I really have left to do is beat the Reaper to get access to Monad (a horrible change from the original game :P), and I'm waiting on him to spawn as we speak.

Hm.  Interesting change.  Probably to try and force you to beat him legitimately instead of cheesing him with Armageddon fusion spell.

Anyways.  Been playing GTA4.  I love that game.  After playing it a lot, I don't think it deserved the 10's it got.. maybe 9.5.  Fucking great regardless.  And I love Brucie.

And I hope the new 360 model is less prone to red ring, which is one of the reasons why I haven't gotten a 360 yet.

I don't think you will have to worry about that.  I don't see the point of releasing a new model of the system if they had no intention of fixing that.
2309  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / LCD vs. Plasma on: May 22, 2008, 11:09:10 AM
Also the size you're looking for plays a big part in which you should go for.  If it's 35 inches or smaller, LCD is probably the way to go. 37" is debatable.

Personally I wanted a bed in my TV room, if you catch my drift.

While not helping you with your plasma or LCD decision, This site can show you the mathematical statistics of your old TV vs your new, prospective TV size wise.

Also did a little grinding in Grandia 3, which is quite difficult in disc 2. This game reminds me of Tales of Legendia so much: normal first half, frustrating second half. Money's hard to get too, so trying to get the best equipment I can before I go into Vejas Jungle is going to be a pain in the ass.

If you wish, look on Gamefaq's for the Mana Egg fusion guide.  That will make things much simpler because some of the spells you won't get without fusing (and they are worth getting because they hit for a fuckton more).
