We really don't know for sure if it'll be in the final product.  Who knows when that demo was released in the product cycle.

As for it being a problem, IGN said it dipped "during Capell's biggest moves".  How much did the FPS drop?  How long did the FPS drop last?  Since neither of those were really answered, I'm not going to pass judgment until the game is released.  I watched a few high quality battle scene movies and it just doesn't seem like it's going to be a huge problem.

I have some issues with the new scoring system in gymnastics.  As a layman spectator, when I watch gymnastics I want to see elegance, grace, and perfection and instead all I see these games is falling, more falling, botched landings, and generally sloppy gymnastics.  I'm flabbergasted that a gymnast who falls gets a higher score than one who doesn't.

From what I understand with the new scoring system, degree of difficulty is a bigger part of the score than before.  So if a gymnast has a 10 degree of difficulty but a 7 on execution s/he gets 17 points.  If a gymnast has a 5 degree of difficulty but a perfect 10 on execution, s/he only gets 15 points.  Some of the Romanian gymnasts were doing so well in my eyes, nailing their routines, sticking their landings, and displaying solid and consistent gymnastics but they didn't even place because their routines were deemed not difficult.

I fell asleep for an unknown period (I was tired, not because I was bored) but from what I saw of the Russians, they had one really good one as well.

I see what you mean about the scoring, but it's certainly easier to nail an easier move with less difficulty so that's why they score it like that I guess.  I really never look at the values other than the score itself, but aren't most difficulties within a point of each other (usually)?

edit: fully agree with Daggerstrike.  I was kinda rooting for the russian girl though to at least place.

Combat -- at least from what we've seen -- doesn't seem mundane. Unfortunately, things are so hectic that the framerate suffers regularly. Throughout our demo, the framerate dipped during Capell's biggest moves. With Infinite Undiscovery just a few weeks away, the framerate is likely not getting any better. That's just something RPG fans will have to live with. At least the rest of the Undiscovery seems promising.

Consider me disappointed. I have yet to play a JRPG on the 360 that doesn't have some framerate issues (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey). And no, I won't play Enchanted Arms, and never will. I hated the first hour of the game, so I quit (meaning I have no clue if there were framerate issues). Thats what we get when Japanese developers start developing on an American made console. Come on Microsoft! Help them already! /sigh

It probably depends also on what kind of TV you're playing it on.  If you're playing it on a regular/old TV, the issues might be little to non-existant (unless you're really looking for the issue).  I've found that issues like this get blown up a lot if you're playing on 720p HDTV.

Either way, maybe they'll patch it eventually.  Also, they did say demo so who knows when the demo itself was produced in the gameplay cycle.

19 and 26 isn't too bad.

But is she in college?  I don't know anything about the girl, but could you handle her doing the whole party thing without you (im assuming you wouldn't be going and that she parties)?

That would be my only issue with that.  Some people do crazy shit when they're at a party and drunk/high.

One man's fun is another man's boredom.  After all, we spend countless hours pushing the same four face buttons on a game controller.

Or in the case of an MMO like WoW, 1 button on end for hours.  If you're lucky, 2-4.

Anyways, I never used to be that interested in the Olympics but this year I'm really enjoying watching it.  Also, smoggy or not, Beijing looks like a pretty cool city.

meh... that comes second only to the smoking wolf in Vesperia...

The fucking wolf is retarded. It has a fucking shark tail and a stupid accessory. What kind of animal fucking smokes? They just ran out of ideas and stuck a pipe in its mouth and a sword on its back that it can't possibly physically wield. Why? To be totally hip.

HEY LOOK AT ME GUYS, I HAVE A BELT AND CHAIN HOOKED TO MY PENIS!

I'M FUCKING AWESOME AND HIP!

Which is exactly why I will never, ever use the dog in ToV.

Oh thanks for posting http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324870.  Definitely got me more excited about the game.  Hope my excitement is well-founded.
2303  The Rest / General Discussions / Majority of MMO players transvestites? on: August 11, 2008, 12:05:29 AM
All my main characters have been male.

My one older childhood friend always plays a female.  When I first asked how his character was doing, he replied "Oh she's on her period."

I'm not surprised he's nearing 30 and still completely single.

For other people, I just never assume.  A lot of people have a ton of alts (at least in WoW) so sometimes they just want a different look.

Trying to get close to the enemies was retarded.

That was the thing that annoyed me most.  Just felt like it took too long, I dunno.  I really wanted to like it.  Definitely no hate for it though, Dice.  Just wasn't my thing which is what worries me about Infinite Undiscovery.

On paper, IU is awesome, but tri-Ace always finds a way to disappoint me somehow.

I find its usually...if not always in storyline.

Almost all of their games have some strange ass design choices that I find baffling, but I find really fun regardless. I expect IU's going to be the same way. Or if not maybe I'll just be annoyed enough by the story, whichever!

Quoting Eusis for no real reason but, did they ever explain how Infinite Undiscovery's battle system works?  I remember watching a video or two of gameplay and it just kinda seemed like Secret of Mana meets Star Ocean 3 (or Valkyrie Profile 2, which I didn't like).

Very much considering it even though Trials and Tribulations kinda spoiled Maya's home village case.  It's $12 used at my local gamestop so I may pick it up when DQ4 or ToV comes out

When I first bought trials and tribulations, for some reason I thought that trials and tribulations was the 2nd game (but I should have known that I was wrong because I know Olga Von Freizenska is in the 2nd one).

Also was hoping my friend would be able to loan me the 2nd one and save $12, but apparently when he moved out, his mom loaned his games to her co-worker and he hasn't been able to get them back since (or that one is missing).

Finished Phoenix Wright 1 and 3.  Great stuff (yeah I skipped 2).

Playing FF4.  A lot better than I expected.  Rubicante is being a bitch.

Looking forward to the gluttony of RPGs coming soon.  Need cash to support my love of Disgaea by buying a PS3 for Disgaea 3.  Probably won't be playing it on launch day, which sucks (but it comes out same day as Tales of Vesperia so I would be torn between what to play anyway).

Last night, I read some posts in /v/ where a few people, without trolling, were saying Sephiroth is the most evil villain in any game ever... Sephiroth standing in the flames was NOT COOL it is CLICHED AS FUCK.

But was it cliched when it was released back whenever?  and holy shit, FF7 came out about 2 years after the PSX was released?  I thought they were released around the same time, but never really bothered to check.  I guess not surprising, since the only thing I read around that age was Nintendo Power =P

Overall I agree though about the anime related things.  I don't get the Tales and Fire Emblem hate though from Levyiur, but it's probably because I don't touch forums except this one with a 10 foot pole so I don't see the retarded fanbase.

I used to shy away from popular things.  Now I don't care I guess.  As for FF7, I enjoyed the music and I enjoyed how the gameplay was mixed up and fun (At that time, I was coming from SNES games, so it was a nice change overall).

However you feel about the game itself, I agree that it's fandom at its worst.  That and anime fans.

I still refuse to call myself a gamer, just 'someone who likes games.' Generally to me, the term gamer is derogatory, since I've come to associate it with mouthbreathing idiots like the GameFAQs people you've just outlined.

You mean the people that, even before the FF13 Xbox 360 announcement, filled up 90+ and 250+ pages of topics on Gamefaqs with such little info about the game?  Yeaahhh....

The lack of one for Flynn seems to imply that he's not playable, or at least, not playable for any meaningful amount of time.  That makes him taking the majority of the boxart even more hilarious, if that's the case.

Finally!  Glad you said it.
I believe there are screen around of him playable.  But the talk on the net is more about when and for how long (if not a ToV version of Asch)

I'm not saying there aren't any screenshots of Flynn playable, but I've yet to run across one.  I've looked through a lot of screenshots and I've yet to see one with him playable in it (when looking through them, I always look to see if Flynn is in any battles).

I'm in the same boat as Parn: if he's playable, it may not be for some time.  Kinda like Leo in Lunar: EB.

..and I like both boxarts.  I already put my pre-order down and if I can change it to the LE and recover my deposit, I will.

Yeah, I really didn't like Grandia 3 that much either even though I actually did finish it.  Even though I try to focus on the positive things about games (I bought it to enjoy, not to bitch about), there are certain games where the creators make it difficult.  This was definitely one of those games.  Overall I'd probably call it on par with most western RPGs, save Kotor (which was awesome).
