You can be a Blood Elf mage in BC if that helps.

As far as druids go, lore wise having a human druid doesn't make any sense.  Really having a tauren druid does not make sense either, but I guess they wanted it to be balanced.

I assume that may be the reason why there are no Night Elf mages as well.  Also before you could shadowmeld yourself and cast Aim Shot and fuck up people before they even know what hit them.  I can only guess another big reason there were no Night Elf mages is that a shadowmelded pyroblast would be quite gamebreaking.

They have different styles.

Personally I'd take WoW's art style over FFXI's anyday.

While I don't see anything other than Nintendo plastered on the box and instruction booklet, I believe you are correct.  Even though Nintendo may not have made it, it has stayed true to the original game.  The only real differences so far are the different babies and bigger levels.  The gameplay control on this game is unbelievably tight.  The only issue that may come up in the late levels is backtracking -- or so I hear.  This may only apply if you're going for a 100 in that level.

Also worth mentioning is that as far as I can tell, red coins can no longer be distinguished from regular coins.

Double Post for Impressions:

I picked this up over the weekend and after completing the first three worlds, it's pretty good.  It's very similar to the SNES version.  The levels are big, which is kind of nice.  You get different babies which you can switch in and out at designated stations (there are a lot of stations so no worries so far).  Each baby has its own special abilities.  What's nice is that so far, the game does not require you to use a certain baby if you don't want to.  There are some parts where it is necessary to switch to get up to a ledge, but often there is another way you can make it up.  Also, there is usually a baby switch station near the place in case you need to switch.

Concerning the gameplay, if you were worried about the split screen -- do not fret.  Yes, there is a "dead zone" between screens which isn't terribly large.  I'd say it's a little bit bigger than a game flower (same as the ones in the snes game where you collected 5 per level).  However seeing the screen can be remedied in at least 3 ways.  The screen does move with Yoshi so if you jump up on something, the screen will follow Yoshi and generally will keep him in the same place on the screen.  Second, holding the up button will allow you to move the screen up to look and it will stay like this until you hold down to set it back to normal.  Lastly, if you hold the x and down/up arrow, you can flip screens.  This is handy as it not only lets you see into the deadzone but it will give you a good view of what is above/below you if are on the very bottom/top of the screen.

Yeah.

I have a feeling once the expansion comes out, whining will be at an all-time high on the forums.  A lot of change happening.

Edit:Seriously..I just opened the "old" and the "new" and switched back and forth between then, but i see no difference. People need to stop whining. This is the reason I don't go to the WoW forums.

QFT.  The WoW forums make me lose faith in humanity every time I read it.

I don't really see a difference either.  Are you talking about the way they look when they stand?  If so who cares.

From what Gfaq users are saying, it seems to be more of a dead spot where as you can't see what's there.

It's retarded, but I think I'm going to pick up this game anyway.  I don't think I'm going to be a completionist with it considering how many other games I have to play on the ps2 at the moment.  The deadzone issue hopefully shouldn't matter much if I'm not searching for that 100% every level.

n WoW, it used to be that you would see high level items on the AH for large sums of money, but these days the highest levels of inflation are in the mid and upper 20s, where the 'twink league' PvP circuit is.  Items aren't going for 1000g, but they're going for easily a hundred percent markup over what they should be going for.

Heh.  On that note, I've seen a Furor's go for 80g at the height of the gold market boom.

Did anyone pick up this title?

I have no clue when it came out, but I was sitting on my couch today playing NSMB and it hit me that this game was supposed to come out sometime around now.  Lone and behold, it's out.

Impressions anyone?  I'm thinking of just picking it up myself.  I already have enough on my Christmas list.

The fact that everytime someone dies, he gets stronger/heals makes it even better.

Too bad blizzard changed it so the chance of anything like this (even on a smaller degree, like a burning steepes dragon) ever happening again is non-existant..

I'm confused.

Venom is spiderman?  I don't know the spiderman story and the person I used to ask is gone so I'm clueless.

All I know comes from the MvC 2 game where Venom was huge compared to Spiderman.

I'm only commenting from what I've learned thus far in my own reading about the game, having not played the Japanese DS version etc. But from what I understand, the characters have been given more backstory and personality. Also, there's been some balance changes to the various jobs, so as to encourage players to use more than just the Sage & Ninja classes by the end of the game. Of course, the music has gotten a make-over as well.

I think in the end though, we're supposed to get the overall basic experience of the original Japanese FFIII.

to add a bit more about the job system:  it's more balanced and user friendly i guess you could say.  All jobs should be a fairly viable option to use at any point in the game.  I guess on the NES version some of the jobs sucked royally and some were too strong making it moot to play anything else.

I think all of us could look past it better had it had online playability: Seriously, who here wouldn't at least like to give it a go or two online?

I would absolutely buy it if it had some form of Wi-fi ability.  One of my best friends for about 7-8 years growing up is always 3 hours away at school.  I always used to game with him and I'd love to be able to do that again.  He was even talking about us playing the game together but it's just not possible without any wi-fi connection.  I am pretty disappointed.  Hell even the new Pokemon DS has better wi-fi capabilities than this game.

Yes...that was a close election...BUT....it was also a record turnout for votes. Yeah everyone should vote if they are capable, but in all honesty....if you dont have the time or energy to read up on the issues and the like...then you SHOULDN'T vote.

I agree 100 fucking percent.

Take my roommate for example.  "My dad's a democrat, so I just vote democrat straight down the line."

It pisses me off.  I have nothing against any party, but that kind of voting is ridiculous and to be frank, I'd almost rather people like that not vote.
2385  The Rest / General Discussions / Help Deg get his degree! - Quick MMO questionnaire on: November 06, 2006, 02:43:40 PM
Name (if you don’t mind providing it):  Wes
Online/Screen Name:  Akanbe / AIM name is in profile
Age: 22
Location:  Pennsylvania
Profession:  student.

1. What MMORPG’s do you play?  World of Warcraft

2. When did you first start playing MMO’s? 2004.

3. How many hours would you estimate that you’ve spent playing on MMO’s?   500-700 total

4. On average, how many hours per week do you spend playing MMO’s?  10-15

5. Do you think playing MMO’s has altered your ‘real’ life, be it a positive or negative change?  The only negative thing that happened was that I spent less time studying.  My grades may have taken a small hit, but not a big one.  My social life didn't change all that much because when I first realized I picked to play an online game over real life friends, I removed myself from that [game] situation.

6. What are your views on real money changing hands for items inside the games, for example, someone selling their high-levelled character on eBay?  It'll always be there.  Someone can always profit off a lazy person.  I don't think it's an ethical way to play, but it's their money. (kinda reminds me of micro transactions)

7. Do you think that playing for as many hours as some people do is unhealthy?  Yes.  Not only is it unhealthy physically but socially as well (socially, it depends on the person imo).  Communicating via a PC is very different than real life communication.  I also remember on a specific WoW realm forum post about a college guy trying to get to Grand Marshal PvP rank.  He made a .jpeg file which showed two things: his character (finally in his GM gear) and an email reply from his professor which told him the chances of him passing the class is zero because his grade average was so low.  Also one of my real life friend's friend had to drop out of his university because of WoW.  Now because of WoW he's at a community college instead of the rather good university he was at.

8. Finally, would you say you play MMO’s to escape the troubles of real life?  When I was first introduced to WoW, yes.  I had some relationship troubles and WoW helped me forget about that.  As for escapism, I don't think any other offline game could ever do that to me.  After I got through the relationship troubles, I just played for fun or to relax from a long days schooling - not escapism.
