Yea, I don't remember much from that point either but thats because I remember it being very uneventful and boring.

Replaying FF7.  In the Corel Prison trying to make my way out on the races.  Been so long since I played this but things are slowly coming back...also hte story finally makes a bit more sense this time around.

Even replaying it still makes little sense because the translation is bad. One reason why I want Square-Enix to make the FFVII remake is to make an improved translation.

You make it sound like the whole game is written in Engrish.  I didn't really have any trouble making sense of things (though I probably played the game 3 or so times because back then, I usually didn't have a backlog and wanted something to play =P)

Besides what a few people have already said, there's one game that should be cast away and only included if the list extended to 100 RPGs: FF XII.

I liked FF XII (it would be in my top 21) except it got ridiculously hard after Raithwalls Tomb..

FF12 was hard? Only if you didn't try and make use of the gambits and license board.

I used the Mist Charges alot I was just refering to when you had to 'avoid' the Elementals (I should have put that in there) I was bad at avoiding them and kept dying, haha.

FF12 can be easy or hard depending on how you go about things.  If you do enough hunts to get the Niphilophia (yes this spelling is butchered) at rank 4 or 5, the game becomes a lot easier.  It all comes down to what you do.

As for the elementals... they are probably one of the hardest non-boss creature i've ever faced in a final fantasy.  Even after having a lot of advanced job hunt equipment, being fully buffed, etc; I still had trouble beating some of them.  A level 25 elemental could be tough even at level 45.  Tough creatures.

The list is okay.. quite a lot of final fantasys on there but one of my major dissapointments on there was no Secret of Mana or Super Mario RPG.  Sure, SoM was mentioned (could even call it an honorable mention) but that's my one personal beef.  I played through the game with one of my best friends when it came out so it was a really enjoyable experience.

I also agree that a Tales should be on that list, probably Tales of Abyss (i liked symphonia better, but abyss was the better game imo).

2 - Final Fantasy V is the one entry in the series to do the Job system best without falling into a subgenre (Tactical or MMO) and generally considered the best from a pure gameplay standpoint, seems to fit to me. I think FFVIII could be dropped though despite the article making me kind of want to replay it.

Agreed.  Story wasn't anything great and it probably doesn't deserve to be on the list, but I really, really enjoyed the gameplay aspect of it.  I didn't do the whole Dragoon/white mages to keep things more pure.  I might have done things like a samurai with nin dual wield, dragoon with a warrior's double grip, or a summoner with white magic.

I guess overall I agree with everyone that there's a lot of personal preference in it and narrowing it down would be tough.
2388  The Rest / General Discussions / I don't remember falling asleep last night! on: March 20, 2008, 07:40:50 PM
Hmm, we're about at the same place in LO, Prime Mover.

Anyway, I only recall falling asleep once while gaming and it was while watching .Hack//GU volume 3's (the final one) ending.  Kinda strange that I played/drudged through all 3 games yet fell asleep during the final scenes.  From what I remember, I don't recall missing much anyhow =P

though I skipped around and landed on a scene about the Velvet Room with Igor. I was shocked to notice they are using the SAME EXACT song. Not different, not even a little bit. They just re-used it.

Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment both used the same song except lower quality and no singing (just piano).

I'm glad they kept it... except it almost looks like a velvet room ran by P. Diddy.

But you do realize those are still both really the same game, split into two right?

How could I know that they have the same velvet room music but not know the two games were related?

Annnyways,  something that I missed the first time I scanned the details of P4 was the length.  1.5x the length of Persona 3?  That seems insanely long to me.  Persona 3 kept me hooked the whole way through, but I'm wondering (and hoping) if Persona 4 could keep me interested 1.5 times that?

I'm not watching the trailer - not if you guys say it's spoilery.
But it seems like the odd numbered ones will focus on high school kids while the even numbered ones have a bit more of a horror feel to them.
At least that's the pattern I'm detecting.

I watched some of it and while I did skip parts (it's 14 minutes long), unless you are fluent in Japanese (which you might be, I don't know) it's probably not all that spoilerish.  But, better safe than sorry.  Game sounds good and I wouldn't want to be spoiled either.

It looks good. I didn't watch the whole trailer though because it's too spoilerish for me, just some scenes here and there. Music sounds similar to P3, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

No evokers this time.

You bring up a good point.  Most of the P3 movies released were chock full of spoilers but they might not have been necessarily noticeable what was going on unless you were actually playing it.  I found a couple P3 movies on my HD yesterday that I downloaded off the official site last summer and was surprised at how many spoiler scenes from P3 were shown such as (late P3 spoilers obviously)
Code:
the protagonists hung up on crosses with Aegis aiming at them and the scene where Chidori revives Junpei at the cost of her own life.

A trailer for Persona 4 has appeared online (possible spoilers):

download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=17IQPILY
streaming:  Gametrailers

Haven't had time to watch it yet, but so far things sound pretty good from the details released.  I don't care that the battle system is similar as long as there is more than one dungeon this time.

Back when I was a complete anime fanboy, I couldn't stand Slayers.  Even though I don't think it's supposed to be serious, the whole comedy aspect was a turn-off.  I can't remember ever selling a dvd set on ebay as fast as I sold that one =P

2396  The Rest / General Discussions / WiiWare Devs: Xbox Live Arcade is "full of shit" on: March 16, 2008, 04:16:02 PM
Ah, well, I'm not in too much of a position to judge that.  My friend downloaded the demo off XBL and I only saw it for a minute or two.  The original dreamcast art was pretty damn good so I'm not surprised that it's not better since it's just an xbl arcade game.
2397  The Rest / General Discussions / WiiWare Devs: Xbox Live Arcade is "full of shit" on: March 15, 2008, 05:22:38 PM
Even though I own a 360, I have never seen all the titles available on xbox live arcade.

I have, however, played a few like Lumines, Super Puzzle Fighter HD, and the remade Bomberman and those particular games are pretty fucking fun and redone well.  I can't really see xbox live's being any worse than Nintendo's.  They both seem to have their merits.
2398  The Rest / General Discussions / Naruto Kills on: March 15, 2008, 05:16:13 PM
I haven't watched the old series in a couple years, but I don't recall anyone ever sticking their heads in the sand in the series on purpose.  The only time someone ever gets their head/body covered with sand is when a certain character is trying to kill somebody.

Still makes no sense to me =P

I watched 25 minutes of Superbad before I took it out of the PS3. Terrible movie. Apatow needs to learn spewing "shit" and "fuck" as many times as possible doesn't make a movie funny. The only two parts I laughed at is when Seth was pretending to do stuff to Jewel behind her back and when he was telling his friend about how he used to be obsessed with drawing penises.

Imo it's worth finishing.  I felt the first part (what you watched) was the slowest part of it all.  It gets better after that.

How is Ganondorf in this version?  He was my favorite one on Melee so I'm curious as to how he handles.
