Complaints of the Japanese version:

Then I read somewhere else that the US version was better and didn't seem to have the technical and graphical glitches.

Which version of the game are they reviewing?

I heard the Japanese version was riddled with framerate and clipping bugs, but the US version was free of that stuff.

I want to pick up this title, but if the technical stuff is that bad, I may pass for awhile.  Even if they do patch it on XBL, I'm not currently hooked up to the internet on my 360 and don't feel like investing in a router yet.

Downloaded the DMC4 demo, not to shabby.  Interesting to see how the story is in the full game, cause this is a renter for me.

I heard the full game makes the demo look like shit, but I agree.  I'm checking every week for my local movie gallery to hopefully get a copy in to rent.

I was in the pro-life group before, but I've seen a lot of hard choices made in regards to abortion in the past few years, so my stance now is undecided. Again, I have to bring up things like pregnancy due to rape, pregnancies which are a danger to the mother, and other such situations.

The main problem, to me, are the people who are just going to get pregnant and abort the baby indiscriminantly three or four times in a year; to them it's not even a choice. To others the option of choice is invaluable. "Pro-choice doesn't mean anti-life, but pro-life does mean anti-choice."

Pretty much my feelings to a T.  I also was pro-life, but now am on the fence.  I'd say pretty much in the above listed circumstances (rape, danger to mother, maybe in a bad situation) I wouldn't have much of a problem with it.

My problem with it is the same one as Ashton's.  The thought of someone aborting 2-3 babies a year frankly makes me sick.  Accidents happen but if people don't take/learn anything from the situation to prevent it in the future... well, that's a pretty scary thought to me.

On topic, I'll probably vote for Obama.  I am concerned about his lack of experience, but not enough to vote for someone else.
2435  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Mario Kart Wii - possible release date and info on: February 06, 2008, 04:46:01 PM
Excellent find.

I was looking through older Kotaku news which had mentioned 32 tracks as well, but since the new article mentioned 16, I figured it was a rumor nixed.

I'm glad as hell that they are including 32 tracks: 16 new and 16 remakes.  Not only that but 10 battle stages?  Nice.  Nintendo seems to have learned their lesson.

Amazing.

Of course, this is a rumor, but still worth getting excited about.  12 people can race online at one time, but sadly only 16 total tracks (wouldn't mind 20 or so myself.. or port in some from the N64 to add more perhaps).  You can race as your Mii, but I wonder how many other characters you can race as.

edit:  http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92157.  Nevermind the release date.  I guess it could still be possibly true but official date is still listed as "Spring".  Was going to delete the topic, but it's still worth discussing.

Oh, I'm jealous.  I'm literally pissing myself in anticipation of Brawl.  :(

FFXII:

Code:
Vayne and Co raided Mt Bur-Omisace and some Judges killed lots of folks.  Had one Hell of a fight against that big fucker.

Worst Cid ever, btw.

Got everyone affinity with Golden Amulet and now everyone's getting double LP.  Not bad, everyone's pretty beefed.

Need to do some hunts tonight though...  I have, like, ten in queue.

Make sure you pick up the Embroidered Tippet (2x exp) at Mt. Bur Omisace.  One of the vendors sells it.
2438  The Rest / General Discussions / 18-1 is alright, I suppose.... on: February 04, 2008, 11:21:49 AM
Not really sure what game you were watching, since the Giants played a good game.  Especially on defense.
2439  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Atlus announces Arcana Heart, all-female 2D fighter for PS2 on: February 04, 2008, 10:29:29 AM

My favorite 2D fighter is still Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Dreamcast.  Say what you will about that system, but it was the best I can think of for fighting games.

Can't argue with you there.  It's a really solid game with lots of fun characters.  MvC2 and Capcom vs SNK 2 are easily my two favorite fighting games of all time with Street Fighter Alpha 3 trailing a close third.

Anyways, this game seems interesting.  Looking through the gameplay stuff on the site, it looks similar to the Guilty Gear series in some ways to me.  I could see myself picking this up.

The game's effects sure do look pretty.

edit:  More digging has revealed that this game is pretty sweet and has some depth.  Looks to be even more similar to Guilty Gear or Melty Blood than I originally thought.  This looks even more so to be a worthwhile purchase.

Also, in Japan apparently there are two versions of this.  Arcana Heart and Arcana Heart FULL (some sort of patch) that nerfed overly strong characters and buffed some of the weaker characters.  Apparently the American version will feature both versions and you can play whichever one you want.  Cool.
2440  Media / Single-Player RPGs / New FFXIII & Versus Scans on: January 30, 2008, 08:45:38 PM
I understand that, there just was some rumors that supposedly SE hinted at 2008 release.  I wanted to believe it =p

After looking over it again, it was just a website's hopeful speculation.

To be fair though, the 13% figure was given back in mid July.
2441  The Rest / General Discussions / RPGFan Gaming Journal: The Road to Infinity on: January 30, 2008, 08:35:49 PM
I agree about the drama part.  There just feels like something is missing.

What was wrong with your game that it screwed up?  I'm just curious since I noticed my save was screwed up today too.  Luckily my backup auto save worked fine otherwise i would have been totally screwed.

boo. :-\

I've turned a bit on Vs too.  Still, it's an action rpg game and we don't know much about the gameplay.  While I don't have the faith in them to make a good action rpg title, I'm going to wait before I make any judgments based on screenshots.

Started Metroid Prime.  Can't say I'm digging it at all.  I'll give it a bit more time though.

I'm not much for shooters in general, but I loved the first metroid prime.  Depending on how long you exactly played, I don't think it really changes all that much in the upcoming hours.  Just more MP goodness imho.

Anyways, I've still been playing Mass Effect.  A part of me wants to wait till I get a lcd hdtv to put more serious time into it, but I don't feel like waiting a few months.  I got to Vilmire where...

Code:
Wrex got all pissy about some antidote.  I ended up killing him.  I assume he would have stayed loyal, oh well =P

Ah.  hmm.  That's disappointing.  I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that mine doesn't go bad.

I think the HDMI port is now standard on the arcade version too since that's what I have and it does have a HDMI port as well.

I work at a Gamestop and I can personally vouch for the 30% failure ratio on 360's.  Maybe you've never had a problem with yours, but I would almost bet money that you eventually will.  Nothing against the 360, I love the system.  It's just a pain in the ass having to go through multiple systems.  I guess this is how early Sony adopters feel if they don't get lucky like myself.

Is the 30% ratio still happening today?  Or did they fix it?

I'm just curious because I was led to believe that it's not the case anymore.

Have to agree on some of the choppyness issues in games.  Mass Effect has been the worst culprit for me so far, but I only have 2 games =P
