Started Metroid Prime.  Can't say I'm digging it at all.  I'll give it a bit more time though.

I'm not much for shooters in general, but I loved the first metroid prime.  Depending on how long you exactly played, I don't think it really changes all that much in the upcoming hours.  Just more MP goodness imho.

Anyways, I've still been playing Mass Effect.  A part of me wants to wait till I get a lcd hdtv to put more serious time into it, but I don't feel like waiting a few months.  I got to Vilmire where...

Wrex got all pissy about some antidote.  I ended up killing him.  I assume he would have stayed loyal, oh well =P

Ah.  hmm.  That's disappointing.  I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that mine doesn't go bad.

I think the HDMI port is now standard on the arcade version too since that's what I have and it does have a HDMI port as well.

I work at a Gamestop and I can personally vouch for the 30% failure ratio on 360's.  Maybe you've never had a problem with yours, but I would almost bet money that you eventually will.  Nothing against the 360, I love the system.  It's just a pain in the ass having to go through multiple systems.  I guess this is how early Sony adopters feel if they don't get lucky like myself.

Is the 30% ratio still happening today?  Or did they fix it?

I'm just curious because I was led to believe that it's not the case anymore.

Have to agree on some of the choppyness issues in games.  Mass Effect has been the worst culprit for me so far, but I only have 2 games =P

I think I gave away the premise, but i laughed anyhow.

And with 360's red-ringing all over the place (mine has thankfully not encountered that yet), it seems that the PS3 has the best build quality of this generation. I haven't seen anything about PS3's having common problems at all. Sony making a reliable bit of hardware is a bit of a turn-up for the books really.

Sorry to hear about your Wii.  I haven't heard of any of my friends (or really anyone in general) having Wii troubles yet , but most of my friends who have a Wii don't play games that much anymore.  That could be why.

As for the 360, I think I remember you saying you got yours for Christmas? If so, I imagine you'll be fine.  My 360 fanboy friend insists that they fixed the red ring problem shortly after they announced their red ring fixing program and all current units should be fine.  I have a 360 arcade and since it has a HDMI port, it has to be a newer generation one.  I hope he's right.

On a side note... Anyone else find it funny that so far Sony has the most reliable hardware (or perhaps equal to the Wii)?  I shudder to think about how crappy the PS2 was compared to the Xbox and Gamecube.  Somehow my PS2 is still chugging along, though I fear it's not long for this world...

I must say, I'm a little less excited after seeing the screenshots, but I'll wait for some reviews or playable demos till I fully judge.

Personally, I'm now much more excited about Tales of Vesperia (maybe because the only next gen system i own at the moment is a 360).  Now those guys are the true masters of creative names .

You mainly get SP restoring items from finding them. I've never used one yet, as I always just go back to the first floor and that automatically refills the HP and SP bar of the party members.

Another store will open in the summer, I'm pretty sure, where you exchange jewels/stones(like topaz, emerald, etc.) for items, and there are a couple SP-restoring items.

I never bothered with that store except to
Complete the quest for Elizabeth. The persona stat increasing items seemed to be completely cheap. I laughed at the final boss and the repeaer with no issues at all.

I agree, but it was nice to build up specific persona later in the game if you liked them without them being too gimped.

Never going to purchase a hdtv?  Just out of curiosity, why?  Prices have been falling and will continue to fall.

As for playing them on a regular CRT TV, the biggest downfall I've seen so far is the text can be extremely difficult to read at times (differs among games.  CoD4 isn't too bad, Mass Effect has been tolerable, while NHL 08 has been horrible).  Definitely an annoyance, but due to all the voice acting now a days, it's not as big of a problem as it could be.

Not to mention, it's probably got the weakest library of all of them,

Well, it came out a year later than the 360 so that's to be expected.  Can't say much vs the Wii though since they were both released pretty close to each other.  I agree the Wii has a stronger library than the PS3 at the moment, but that'll probably change this year.  I like the Wii a lot, so hopefully they release some stellar titles other than Brawl this year.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some really good fighting/action anime series that are new? The last thing I used to watch faithfully was Naruto, but that was maybe 2 or 3 years ago when the Rock Lee vs. Sand Guy *just* came out on torrent.

If it helps I love anime series like Naruto, Kenshin, and Flame of Recca that like to focus on the techniques and fighting and all that. I heard Basilisk is good-- any truth to that?

The ratings for Basilisk seem to be decent and it sounds nice.  I might try to pick it up myself.

As for your question, I don't know if you're currently watching it, but picking up the Shippuden part of Naruto might be worth your while.  It's a couple years past the regular series and everyone is a bit older(obviously).  They are taking the episodes slow, but there hasn't been any filler episodes to my knowledge in Shippuden, which is nice (and looking at how far ahead the manga series is, I don't think there ever will be).  I, too, got disheartened along time ago with the series, but Shippuden has perked my interest again.  You really aren't missing that many critical parts by skipping ahead.  A single paragraph could pretty much bring you back up to speed.
2470  The Rest / General Discussions / Opinions on the PSP on: January 16, 2008, 04:03:44 PM
There's also a ratchet and clank on PSP that got pretty good ratings as well.  While I wouldn't call it a dealbreaker, it's a nice thought.

Meh. Solarian is an absolute joke with or without a paladin tank.

As for the BT remark, do remember that Kael was nerfed big time.  There are a few guilds pugging him now if you check various realm forums (they're probably experienced though, not sure).  BT bosses are now a good bit more difficult than Kael.

Raiding has come a ways since BWL.  Unless you just don't like raiding anymore, I think it's worth it to give it another shot.  At this point though, it seems to be harder to find guilds actively doing it since PvP overall gives better rewards (compared to karazhan) for less time and effort.

Paladin tanks aren't that bad at all.  I don't know what kind of buffing they got from the last patch because we don't use them (and I never played with one) but I hear they have good frontload and AOE threat (tanking Illihoof might be a good job for them because of the imps, no clue though).  It seems blizzard is trying to make the 3 tanks, Warrior, Paladin, and Druid, all good at certain types of encounters.  People just need to learn more about them.

Been playing Mass Effect lately since I moved back to school.  When I first played it at home, I hated it and felt it sucked and was a waste of money.  When I got back to school, I restarted with a different class and am enjoying it a lot more.  I'm thinking of going to the rental store this weekend to rent CoD4 or Blue Dragon if available though.

In fact, in today's modern world, I think gender portrayal works more against men than women. Since the higher paying jobs and better opportunities require more and more skill, and less labor, women suddenly have a big advantage, according to current gender-roles shown in entertainment.

Definitely depends on the job and place.  A lot of business execs see women more dedicated to their family than their job and are afraid they'll eventually take maternity leave which (in their minds) will cause a big mess.  There's more things about gender inequality, but frankly I don't remember what they say anymore.

But looking at pay and ratio of men to women in higher positions, I'm glad to be male instead of female in that regard.  Of course, this is starting to change, but it seems to be a slow change.

On topic, I don't know much about it.  Dincrest's idea seems most likely to me though.

I read on digg (anything I read on there I take very lightly, so I'm asking here) that some people were not being refunded their taxes/shipping and handling.

For anyone who got the preorder in at 20 dollars, did you get a full refund?
