2596  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / WoW 2.0: THE AFTERMATH =^.^= on: December 12, 2006, 04:27:31 PM
Well, now that honor doesn't decay they had to do something.  I'm not really that surprised by it.

If what you said is true, then technically they didn't lie.  Prices are the same, right?  I haven't checked it out myself.

The graphics are pretty good.  They did a pretty good job of keeping the feel of the series from what they are showing so far.  I'm a bit more interested now that I've seen some sceenshots of it.  I don't know how I feel about the action bits though.

That isn't funny.

I loled.

I'm surprised it's not on the Wii.  I think I would have liked that more.

Bumping this back up since the game's been out for awhile, and is actually getting reviewed.

Alright, who here will seriously get it? I'm on the fence of trying to get it ASAP or waiting since I have no idea whether anyone else I know intends to get it, and I'd love to have some online Bomberman. It sounds like there's enough fun to be had even if I don't play online with anyone, but that's the real appeal for me.

Edit: And yes, IGN confirmed Single cart multiplayer.

Sweet.  If enough people bought it I suppose I would too.  Old bomberman multiplayer is a blast.  Single player sucks.

I knew the top two had to be there, I just wasn't sure in which order, and I think 3 actually did a lot better than I expected.

I wasn't sure where number 3 was going to come in.  I wasn't sure if 3 would do better or worse honestly.  When I saw who was 2 and 1 though, I agreed with it.

On the disagreeing side, I thought pokemon should have been a lot higher and maybe star wars lower (I'm not a star wars fan though).  I'm also a bit surprised that half-life was so low.

So I dusted off Alisandre #1 to test out the new lock skills.  Since everyone and their mom on Dark Iron has apparently gone the felguard route, I decided to go down my preferred path, affliction.  I dig absolutely every new skill, not to mention the skills that have changed since I last played lock.

...I'm totally rolling a new lock tonight. :P

Felguard seems to be regarded as the noob spec.  Glad you didn't go down that way.

Affliction rocks.  You made a good decision.

Destro is good too, but it doesn't really shine until you get some +dmg

I know it's even easier for me to hold aggro as a druid, but it's not like that was ever an issue for druids. :P

Heh i bet.  I haven't heard any druids complaining about it yet.
2602  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / WoW 2.0: THE AFTERMATH =^.^= on: December 07, 2006, 11:05:44 AM
Yeah, the warrior forums made me lol.

Normalized rage generation means easy prey for my shadow priest.  I kinda like that =P.

Has anything different happened to aggro?  I heard people bitching about how they can't handle aggro as well anymore.

On a side note, seems like hunters got buffed a lot.  Being able to lay traps in combat (with a slight delay) without FD is probably nice.  I heard their overall DPS got a bit of a boost too.  Hunters pets got very buffed.  The only complaint I've heard so far, which most people agree will just take time to get used to, is if you are in combat range and auto attack is on and you get out of range of auto attack (and into shooting range), auto-shot is turned on.  Kind of annoying I suppose incase you CC them and move away to try and get off an aimed shot.
2603  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Amazon has Magical Starsign and Children Of Mana cheap! on: December 07, 2006, 11:00:34 AM
Wow they are selling a lot of games for cheap.  If I didn't ask for some of those for Christmas, my credit card would be taking a big hit right now.  FFXII is quite cheap too.  Tales of Abyss new on amazon is the same as it is used elsewhere.  Nice.

... Why does no one get the whole /ship/ date thing? We've gone over this far too many times, and no, no one will get this tomorrow because it /ships/ tomorrow. Only the biggest games will actually be in stores that date, and usually it's a street date and they've had the game around a week earlier, like the case was for FFXII and the Wii. This, ironically, means that for everyone that does read on Tuesday... Yes, it /is/ tomorrow. :P

I asked for this for Christmas, so I won't be getting it Wednesday anyway.

I just called my local Wal-Mart, and they said it's in stock.

Well, I wnet to pick iy up last night, and it wasn't there. Whoever I talked to earlier in the day must have seen the old Castlevania when I asked them if they had the new one in. They're a bunch of idiots there. I don't know how many times I've called up there and asked if they had a game in and they said "no", then when I go up there the same day, it's in. Or vice-versa... I've also called and they said they've had a game, when they didn't. Like yesterday. It's amazing how little they know about games. You'd think the people working in the electronic department wouild know these things, don't you?

Why go to a wal-mart for games?  As Eusis said, "My mom once told me they'll say something's in stock just to try and get you to head there," I don't doubt it.

edit: reading comprehension ftl

I can tell you my 1/41/9 druid is rocking a storm in PVP.  People die in like 3 mangles.  It's kinda nice.  And I swear it ignores armor because I can stand up to warriors in cat form. Oh, and the whole 160 HP every 6 seconds isn't so bad either.  In bear form...well, let me put it this way.  I ninjaed the SP aid station from 4 60 NPCs and hardly broke a sweat.

Don't have an opinion on the LFG system, I tried it out in AV and it didn't do anything. ;p

As it stands right now, I'm told that at 70 feral druids are just as good at DPSing as rogues are if not better(considering about equal gear).

As for the LFG system, can you put yourself into the queue for more than one dungeon?  Considering how many new dungeons there are in the Outlands, that would suck if you couldn't.
2606  The Rest / General Discussions / Child gets arrested for opening gift early... on: December 06, 2006, 01:02:16 PM
Interesting replies.

On the article posted, I wonder if it's already too late to help the kid out.  Sounds like the parent didn't do her job, but having a kid at 15 and being a single mom it has to be tough.

I don't know what to think about child discipline.  I probably feel about the same way as Hidoshi.  I personally wasn't really hit much or grounded as a kid but I wasn't a bad kid.  When I did act up, which was usually in the form of talking back, the threat of being hit was always there.  Looking back at it, maybe they should have hit me because I'm a prick to my parents sometimes.

I look at how my good friend's younger brother acted when I was at his house and that sometimes makes me want to lean towards hitting.  Even at 8 and 9 years old, he was screaming "FUCK YOU!" at the top of his lungs to his mother without any real consequences except "Go to your room".  I heard now he has straighted out somewhat.  I can't really witness this because his mom and brother moved half way across the US.  I try not to put too much weight on his actions because the circumstances at home were very un-nurturing.

The water elemental with my mage is sorta lackluster.  I'd like it better if you didn't have to aim its frost nova.  It's pretty disappointing as far as a 41 point talent goes, if you ask me.  If I ever start playing my mage again for real, I'm definitely going to give the other two trees a shot.

Having played a mage to 60, I can't stand being Frost based.  It'd be allright for raiding, but I'd never grind with it.  Maybe Ice Lance would change that.

Also the water element adds very nice dps in raid and dungeons.  He adds a shitload of dps for a rather minimal mana cost.

All this new shit makes me want to reinstall the game to test it out for a month.  Espicially the priest talents.  Shadow priests perhaps viable in end game raiding? NO WAI!

I just want my mods back.

tbh I'm glad some of the mods are gone.  I welcome many of them back but others I do not.
2608  The Rest / General Discussions / "IRS taxation of game assets inevitable" on: December 04, 2006, 06:22:25 PM
I think Gamespot ripped it from another site.  I read this earlier on:

I don't see how they can regulate it.  Accounts are usually sold under the table (and in the case of WoW, at least, not condoned by the company) so the only real way to tax it would be if ebay or ige (unlikely) would add the tax themselves.  It's hard to say which players will end up selling something and which won't.  I think we all agree that taxing individual items is absurd and would destroy the game.  Of course, this is strictly from a WoW viewpoint.  I can't really speak for Second Life since I know nothing about it.

I don't know how this could affect gold sellers since most of them are based in China.  The only way I can see them being taxed is through ebay.  Seems like Blizzard has cracked down on ebay sales though.

This reminds me of all the "you are buying my time" disclaimers on wow auctions.  like that would ever hold up if this came into action.

To sum it up:  I'm not really worried about it.  It looks to be one person's opinion and there isn't any legislation going through anywhere yet.  Also, I know these things can take awhile to ever come into effect anyway.
2609  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Montiors on: December 04, 2006, 03:48:51 PM
If price is a problem, I remember a couple weeks ago on Digg they had Dell 20" LCD's for $150.  It wasn't any black friday special or anything like that.  I don't know if they are still around but it's something worth checking out.

There shouldn't be any incompatibility with your computer that I know of.  As long as you meet the minimum requirements everything should be fine.

You should be able to get a pretty decent monitor for $200-300.  From what I've been looking at, seems like the majority of the monitors fell in between 200-300 (about 43% of them are in that range, 32% being lower than $200).

You guys know that BBspot is a satirical site, right?

It's not real, however it does seem very believable.  That's the scary part.
