I'm interested in seeing the stats on these things.

i've read along the lines that 70 blues are even better than tier 2.  So i'm kind of curious what the stats on the tier 4 are going to be like.
2657  Media / Single-Player RPGs / it happend to you that you stop play because you use faq? on: October 08, 2006, 06:20:58 PM
Not anymore.

Back in the day (before college), I would probably say it did ruin it to a degree.  I had tons of time on my hands and not enough games to play.  So if I was stuck, I just tried to figure it out until I got it.

Now, I don't have enough time and more than enough games to play.  So now a days I would probably look to a faq and care less.  Lately however, some people make faqs and do not mark spoilers.  If it gets spoiled, I lose most interest in a game.  Though if there are no spoilers, a faq itself will not make me lose interest (assuming I don't read ahead).

Ought to make the 25-man roster easy.

I think there are a couple of benefits to a 25 man raid and that's definitely one of them.  It'll be much much easier to see who the dead weight is.

Picked it up today and thought I'd better make a topic.

I've only played for about two and a half hours, but I can already say this is one of the best games I've ever played. I wouldn't say it is unlike any game before like it sometimes seems to have been made out to be, but definitely one of the best. Really my only complaint is the camera can be a little sporadic at times.

The story is by no means something terribly original, however the unique Oriental feel just makes it very fresh...kind of like bringing trees back to life with the brush.

Anyone interested in old Japanese/Asian setterns = WIN
Anyone interested in old Japanese type music = WIN

Anyways, I preordered it sunday night and it was shipped today.  Somehow it ended up on my doorstep tonight.  Cool.

Anyways, I dig it.  A lot.  The story is pretty cool and very Japanese folklore-ish.  Love it.

One thing I'm not digging so much, like Jimmy, are the camera controls.  Just a tad bit iffy.

I also don't like the "game speak" ala Animal Crossing.  I wish we could turn it off.

Anyways, this game is great.  Finally give me something to play besides WoW.

Been playing assorted X Box Live Arcade games... and loving them. Time Pilot, Scramble, and -especially- Mutant Storm Reloaded.

Still on the fence about Okami. I want it, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the $50. My car's been acting up and I think repairs to that take priority, unfortunately D;

I bought it.  It should be here on thursday or friday (probably friday).  I was going to start a thread on it in the misc. games so I'll let you know how it is.

mainly due to the fact that there are incredibly detailed boss strategies out there (like wowwiki for instance) that tell you exactly what to watch out for and what abilities bosses have.

Boss strategies don't really help all that much.  There aren't that many bosses where you could get a decent strategy after 1-3 wipes; the primary time consumer in progression is perfecting execution of whichever strategy is decided on.  And, well, I don't think Nihilium was copying strats on their world first Kel'Thuzad kill.

ah, sorry.  i didn't mean kel'thuzad, 4 horsemen, or anything like that.  But if you look for MC, BWL, or AQ strats, there are tons of detailed strategies that help a lot.

Naxx ones are a little less descriptive since less people have seen it, obviously.

Also i'm not trying to belittle john's or anyone's kill.  Getting 40 people from WoW's playerbase to work together is pretty amazing imo.

I just recently started watching The Colbert Report and God do I love that show.

I saw him plugging it and I tried to vote but it didn't let me.  Anyways, that's cool he won.

expecially seeing as Dark Iron came up almost a year after launch.  Grats to them!

I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter about how long a realm is up or active for raid progress to be present, The European Guild "Nihilum" has consistantly been first to down all major bosses in WoW even with Europe getting the game some 8 months after the states. Also, I recently left my old Alliance guild on Drak'Thul (full Bloodfang Rogue) to start afresh on a new pvE realm as an orc Warrior. The realm is only 6 weeks old and yet there are already guilds rampaging through MC and BWl, its madness.

It's mostly just people hearing something and then selectively ignoring actual loot trends. For instance, we have a 5.9% drop rate on Nemesis Robes. Low Druid and Warlock population certainly doesn't help.

This is true, but it must certainly feel that way across all realms otherwise I don't think the little joke would have been put in Nefarian's letter in the AQ Scepter quest (if you don't clear BWL fast enough).

Stormrage Chest.
Nemesis Chest.
Pure Elementium Band.
Mishun'dare.

God it seems like Druid and Warlock chests always drop.

Hope they didn't get DE'ed.  I guess for a first time kill they wouldn't.
2665  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Good non-rpg ps2 game? on: September 17, 2006, 12:44:10 PM
i always really enjoyed the ratchet series a lot.  If you go in that direction, i'd pick up the 2nd then the third one (going commando is the 2nd and up your arsenal is the 3rd).

Also Okami is coming out this week and that should be one amazing game.  I can't wait personally.

Anyway, I'll get to the point I was going to make here. I heard that websites like Ctrl-Alt-Del have several hundred thousand members (that could be an exaggeration) , consisting of most of the internet nerdy percentage of the gaming population around the world (its true, you'd have to be the kind of person who spends a hell of a lot of time on the internet to be on forums with that kind of popularity). If you can't imagine 350-odd members, try a few thousand...

I like the relatively close-knit community of this website, as it means you start to know the regulars if you post as often as I do. On Ctrl-Alt-Del, it would be impossible to know anybody on the whole forum, unless you posted about say 500 posts a day. (that's both sarcasm and exaggeration  lol)

I could never stand the ctrl alt del website and tim buckley is a self-absorbed arrogant prick.  John plays WoW on Dark Iron so I'm sure he remembers all the rapscallion shit that went on.  Tim came on, threw a hissy fit and g(guild)kicked everyone for practically no reason.  Members went to the board and said he's a cock and he's so into himself that he thinks he's God.  Also supposedly he sent pictures of his penis to two 16 and 17 year old girls.

He posted on the thread later but he never denied those claims.  I've stopped reading ctrl alt del since.  Just kind of ruined it for me.

Don't you think though in a few months the current 40 mans will practically be obsolete?  Burning Crusade is just around the corner.  Probably late november/december i'm guessing.  Depends on how much they're gonna test the new dungeons.

There's still a fair bit of debate about how well Tier 3 will hold up.  Depending on how much they change the itemization formulas (The Stamina change is notable), Naxx loot could easily stand until level 70 raid dungeons (Some of Kel'Thuzad's loot table is iLevel 96, iirc).

Plus, if you plan on raiding in BC, it could be necessary to get an Atiesh to hit up Karazhan.

The Tier 3 part is true, but how many are going to still raid that?  I agree tier 3 will hold up to blues at 70, but tier 4 should blow it away.  I guess it's possible to still raid current raid dungeons after BC, but I wonder how many will actually be doing it.  It's not really worth it time wise to raid anything but Naxx post BC.  Even then I dunno.  There are enough non-raid dungeons to gear yourself up for BC raid dungeons if you aren't geared already.

Also, is that (Atiesh) the only way to get into Karazhan?  I didn't know that.

Sorry to hear about your old guild.  Good luck with the new guild.

In my current news, I found a [Precisely Calibrated Boomstick] the other day.  Trying to sell it for 200g, not goin so well though.  Our economy is fucked up.
