2656  Media / Single-Player RPGs / PSU: RPGFan's Hang Out on: October 25, 2006, 10:07:22 AM
I have no idea what race / class I'll be because i'm fairly uninformed, but with the recent news of the Burning Crusade being pushed back till January, i'm looking for something else instead so I can play it over Christmas break.

I'll be on.  The game looks sweet.

I honestly believe that the WoW forums have taken over gamefaq's spot for forum stupidity.

Lol, I love how the retarded official WoW forum immediately threw up their hands in disgust and started posting the most ridiculous ideas ever.  I read some guy who said Blizz should just patch in draeneis and blood elves in 1.13 because they'll be useless if they can't be taken past 60 anyway.

...God that community is retarded.

Anyway, based on what I read I'm glad the expansion is being delayed, and I am looking forward to the new talent trees in 1.13 (1/39/11 baby :p).

Of course it's retarded, you linked the WoW europe forums.  They're the ones that go "ZOMG WE BEAT THOSE US NUBS ON A WORLD FIRST KILL".  Don't know why they always focus on that.  US gamers don't seem to care... or at least didn't before all that shit started.  Though I'm not saying the US forums aren't equally retarded, they are and probably even more so.  It's half the reason I decided to stop playing until BC.

As for the delay, did they ever really release a concrete date or even a month before this?  Wasn't it just all speculation?  I saw the late november release date on gamestop but never really thought much of it.  I'm slightly miffed about it I guess.  I was hoping to be able to pick up BC once finals were over and play it over Christmas break.  Would have been nice since the game would have been out for a couple weeks so the mad rush of the new zones would possibly be lower.

Originally I was very interested in this title.  Then I think Eusis posted an import review on it.  Supposedly the combat is just as bland, they messed up the weapon system (making it more MMO like, but making trades and such useless), and other things that I don't remember.  Also I believe this one is going to span 4 discs as well, no?

Unless it gets a good review score here, which i'm doubting, I'm not sure if i'll pick it up anymore.

edit:  IIRC, the dungeons are damn boring.  Only 4 skins total.

Sure there are a lot of diverse titles for launch...to grasp a well rounded group of gamers the day of.....but WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT CRAP. No fewer than SEVEN sports games and TWO driving sims. Anyone else find it annoying and kinda pathetic that almost half the games coming out for the PS3 are fucking sports games that generally end up being just minor updates to the previous season's releases?

I am irritated.

PS3 = out.

IIRC, weren't the sports titles that came out around launch for xbox360 also pretty barebones and only had main modes to play?

Though I agree, nothing there that really interests me at all either.
2661  The Rest / General Discussions / Logitech G15 Keyboard on: October 18, 2006, 05:54:42 PM
that's a really cool keyboard.  I'd love to get one.

I'm kind of curious how bright [the three settings] are when it the LED lights up in the dark.

It's not like the drama will go away with 25 mans either.

Anyhow, I'm kind of glad the armor is being devalued in a way too.  I finally decided that i'm most likely going to level up my priest to 70 and raid with him.  Now that epic armor will be null, choices of guilds will probably open up some since everyone will be at the same dungeons (i assume).
2663  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Looks like Blizzard wants the gold farming economy thriving on: October 17, 2006, 04:00:05 PM
According to that thread, that's only for epic flying mounts.

Regular flying mounts will be 1,000 gold.  That seems bad, but it mentions how by that level, 5000 is about equal to what 1000 was at 60.

Also, I'm pretty sure some epic mounts are found in raid dungeons too.  Though if the drop rate is anything like the ZG tiger, the point is kinda null.

I think though once you factor in reputation, 5000 won't be that bad.  I'm guessing the reduction is based off a percentage.  If so, being revered could bring the cost down 1000 gold or so.

As far as gold prices are concerned, it seems like blizzard is doing a decent job keeping the farmers banned.  Looking at prices now, prices are almost $8-9 dollars higher than they were many months ago (based off 100g prices).  I do see bots and farmers around the world, but no longer can I type /who dire maul and see 5-10 unguilded level 60 hunters in there.
2664  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Grasping RPGs storylines on: October 17, 2006, 03:47:23 PM
Nowadays I haven't really played anything that was that confusing.  If I do run into something confusing, I wonder if it's the game being confusing or if it's my fault because I haven't played it in so long (in the case of DDS).

However the only game I can really recall being pretty clueless on back when I was younger was Xenogears - maybe ff7 a bit too.  I was 14ish and probably stupid/naive.  I didn't really fully understand what was going on until I finished the 2nd playthrough a couple months later.  I replayed the game later when I 19 and I honestly do not understand how
Code:
I didn't realize Fei was Id.  I don't know if it was just my young age not being able to understand or what.  I feel like back then I didn't think outside the box and only paid attention to what the story presented to that point of time.
2665  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Fire Emblem -- Why do I play it??? on: October 17, 2006, 03:33:24 PM
I'm the same way.  I do not let my characters die and if they do, I restart the level.  It adds a higher degree of difficulty (perfectionism?) and makes me play much more strategic (usually more defensive, no?).

It also lets me not screw up and make sure I'm leveling correctly and not over leveling one person.

I'm interested in seeing the stats on these things.

i've read along the lines that 70 blues are even better than tier 2.  So i'm kind of curious what the stats on the tier 4 are going to be like.
2667  Media / Single-Player RPGs / it happend to you that you stop play because you use faq? on: October 08, 2006, 06:20:58 PM
Not anymore.

Back in the day (before college), I would probably say it did ruin it to a degree.  I had tons of time on my hands and not enough games to play.  So if I was stuck, I just tried to figure it out until I got it.

Now, I don't have enough time and more than enough games to play.  So now a days I would probably look to a faq and care less.  Lately however, some people make faqs and do not mark spoilers.  If it gets spoiled, I lose most interest in a game.  Though if there are no spoilers, a faq itself will not make me lose interest (assuming I don't read ahead).

Ought to make the 25-man roster easy.

I think there are a couple of benefits to a 25 man raid and that's definitely one of them.  It'll be much much easier to see who the dead weight is.

Picked it up today and thought I'd better make a topic.

I've only played for about two and a half hours, but I can already say this is one of the best games I've ever played. I wouldn't say it is unlike any game before like it sometimes seems to have been made out to be, but definitely one of the best. Really my only complaint is the camera can be a little sporadic at times.

The story is by no means something terribly original, however the unique Oriental feel just makes it very fresh...kind of like bringing trees back to life with the brush.

Anyone interested in old Japanese/Asian setterns = WIN
Anyone interested in old Japanese type music = WIN

Anyways, I preordered it sunday night and it was shipped today.  Somehow it ended up on my doorstep tonight.  Cool.

Anyways, I dig it.  A lot.  The story is pretty cool and very Japanese folklore-ish.  Love it.

One thing I'm not digging so much, like Jimmy, are the camera controls.  Just a tad bit iffy.

I also don't like the "game speak" ala Animal Crossing.  I wish we could turn it off.

Anyways, this game is great.  Finally give me something to play besides WoW.

Been playing assorted X Box Live Arcade games... and loving them. Time Pilot, Scramble, and -especially- Mutant Storm Reloaded.

Still on the fence about Okami. I want it, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the $50. My car's been acting up and I think repairs to that take priority, unfortunately D;

I bought it.  It should be here on thursday or friday (probably friday).  I was going to start a thread on it in the misc. games so I'll let you know how it is.
