Apparently despite having memorial day off for the last 2+ years, we now have to work that day.  Also, 4th of July might be gone too.

Fucking pissed.

The worst I've gotten at Gamestop is pushy salesmen trying to get me to preorder games I don't want. "Do you want to preorder blah blah blah?" "No, thanks." "Are you sure?" "I said "No, thanks"!"

Seriously.  I went to two different gamestops for Soul Hackers (the first one just had the pre-orders left) and the one near my work sucks since the cute college girl quit.  Their recommendations are shit and are usually just whatever game just came out and they leave it at that.  The 2nd one the guy was pretty cool.  Actually had great recommendations based on what I was buying and it was a pretty good experience.  If I didn't hate going to the mall and also hate gamestop, I probably would have pre-ordered the ones he mentioned.

Rezzing an old topic for new trailer.

I haven't been keeping up on it at all so I don't know how the 3 different characters come into play.  The first and last character seem pretty interesting.  Not sure about the 2nd yet.

Lots of interesting stuff in those tidbits.  Lore Library would be nice as I didn't play the original FF14.  Level sync is always nice and I know they had that at some point in FF11.   Are they really saying it's going to be released in the summer?  I always heard late this year was the release date.

So you may have noticed my meaningless posts have been scarce lately.... ok so you probably didn't notice. But i have been relatively absent and there is a reason for that. What is this "reason" you inquire? Well I damn near broke my back and ended up in the hospital two weeks ago. As an avid distance runner, I have since become a depressed-distance-cane-hopper. Yes, I am 27-year old sporting a cane who still tries to engage long-distance cardio because laying around all day SUCKS!!! WITH A CAPITAL, "SUCK"!!!!!

Whats the point here? Well I've come to report being pseudo-crippled is a sad and pitiful state to find yourself in... just in case you thought otherwise...

The worst part of the scenario is the fact that I can't take a pain pill because of my past affinity for opiates. Well I could take one... but then I venture to guess I'd have a problem that persisted long after my back healed.

Ok, my weekly bitching to you guys is over. I feel better already :)

Sorry bud. How'd you do that?

I second this.  Inquiring minds must know.  I hope you heal up soon Klyde!

I remember when I bought P4, the girl at Gamestop was geeking out over the game (and cosplaying) and warned me multiple times not to look at the art book because it had spoilers.  She was really cute, but looked a tad young for me.

When I bought Soul Hackers the other day, the guy at the desk made fun of me for it. I asked to see his manager, and he was the manager. I think I am just going to do all my shopping on the Gamestop website from now on.

If you still bought from there, do the survey at the bottom of the receipt.  Most companies do look at these things.  Just give him a really shitty rating and list the things he said.  Probably wouldn't hurt to throw in a line like, "I really like gamestop, but if this is how they're going to treat their customers then I'll just buy at Amazon/Best Buy/Walmart/insert favorite other store here".

Meanwhile in Soul Hackers land, my game froze during battle. I was in the cold storage warehouse at the time. It froze mid attack and I had to restart. Luckily I didn't lose much progress since I had saved about 10 minutes before.

Still, what's with all the freezing on the 3DS.

Oh the irony.  Play in warmer places and it won't freeze.

Guess it's time for a new phone.  Actually it's been time for a new phone for a while, this thing was already pretty beat up.  I've been looking at all the latest Android gadgets but I just can't seem to find anything I like.  The things I want out of a phone don't really seem to be what's trendy...

I guess I could just get an S4 or something, but man I hate Samsung's shitty software.  Why can't they just leave Android alone?  I think Sony's Xperia Z looks pretty sweet (and I've never been a fan of Sony's phones before), but for some inane reason they don't seem to have any plans to release it in the US, despite the fact that it's already out everywhere else in the world.  I could import it, but it won't have the right frequencies for the faster data options.  Then there is the HTC One which looks OK but it has the shittiest battery life of the bunch (and all of them are pretty shitty in that respect...nobody makes phones with decent battery life anymore).

And of course none of these phones have keyboards.  Nobody makes phones with keyboards anymore!  But I like keyboards!

Try a Nexus 4. Yeah, keyboards are dying, but try the trial of swiftkey and i doubt you'll want a physical keyboard after trying it out.

Kotaku is just trying to get attention by using guaranteed shitstarter topics lately.
Personally, I think they aren't worth the attention.

Business as usual for Kotaku.  And they definitely aren't.

Kotaku is asssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

New phone arrived today, Galaxy S4. It's funny, news was saying Samsung was having problems shipping out all the orders, and then fed ex knocks on my door with mine, haha.

Nice.  If I wasn't ditching Verizon, I'd probably get one of those myself.

How easy is it in Soul Hackers to screw yourself over with stat gains?

The main character gets no magic correct, so should everything go into Str, Agi, En?

That's what I mainly do as well, but I'm pretty sure Int (but not Mag) raises Magic Defense.

Daschrier - Did you go into the configuration menu and turn battle text speed to slow?  By modern standards, SH's slow is a modern day Cheetah speed.

Decided to go back to Strange Journey since a number of people told me it picked up again after Sector D, and that Sector D was sort of a low point. Anyway. Beat Asura, so onto E.

Anyway 2. Prior to Nocturne, your demons in SMT games were meant to be a lot more transient. No level ups or anything. Soul Hackers is like that, I guess

Yeah, forces you to constantly be recruiting and/or fusing.  Not my favorite part but at least it's easier since the demons don't automatically hurt you after the first failed attempt to talk (though some may).

One thing I don't like is that demons randomly waltz off and leave the party. Has me compulsively saving my game like crazy.

What were their loyalty levels like?

Soul Hackers is unapologetically old school by today's RPG standards (came out on Saturn in 1997 and Playstation in 1999), but that's why I both love it and am sometimes annoyed with it.

Agree 100%.  Even though my first experience was Nocturne or P2EP (can't remember), but this is probably one of the reasons why I'm enjoying it so much.
44  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Idolmaster games getting localized - iOS only on: April 23, 2013, 05:02:43 PM
I ever thought anything like this would occur, simply because iM@S is so much more than a game series: it has over 100 music albums, a manga series, an anime series, ridiculous amounts of merchandise, radio shows, etc. I always thought Namdai would do it as an all-or-nothing kind of mentality (which means nothing), not some terrible spin-off.

I wonder how much it cost in royalties to release it in America?  If they knew it was such a niche market sale that they had to jack the price up that high to make any money on it, that's an awful risky strategy.  If that is the case, then I could at least justify the price.  God knows I'd probably pay an absurd amount for a localized TitS2 if I had to (YOU HEAR ME XSEED????)

Or maybe they're just trying to rip people off.  Who knows?
