Heh, and it's telling that despite a powder keg in the Middle East and contaminated oceans wreaking havoc with the ecosystem, we're mostly talking about a hot mess pop-tart acting like a hot mess pop-tart.  Still, I do like this article that uses the incident to reflect on the hypocrisy of American cultural sensibilities: http://www.bust.com/in-defense-of-miley-cyrus-at-the-vmas.html

As far as I'm concerned it's because our news is 100% complete and utter shit and the average person doesn't know any better.  They think they're getting enough info/the whole picture and they aren't getting anywhere close to it with the "news".

If you bothered to do every quest available to you, you'd be more than enough leveled for anything thrown at you.

This is the gist of what I've gathered from a few quick visits to other forums in regards to this matter.

That is exactly what I have been doing: Looking for quests everywhere, and possibly overstaying my welcome in certain areas. I almost feel like I'm playing on "god mode" now, seriously. Enemies like threshes and mountain trolls are way too quick to fall under my character's basic attacks, even with weaker equipment.

I think I may restart a new character (with less physical prowess), and be more selective about quests. Also, won't be afraid to more widely traverse the map earlier on.

It's a shame it's so easy to over-level, but I guess they wanted to cater to a much wider audience...

The level gap narrows towards the end.  If you stop trying to over level, depending on where you are, the mobs will catch up.  I'd just keep on trucking or put in weaker party members/use weaker equipment.

Yeah, the whole going around and talking to people with different schedules isn't a bad one in of itself, but the execution in this game is a little lacking (the minimap can kinda show where a named NPC is but the indicator is a tiny black dot and not very visible at all).

The time part isn't too bad as the game, iirc, tells you their schedule.  Finding them can be a pain in the ass though...

Oh and just out of curiosity... how much audio is supposed to be in the game?  They give us a choice of languages, but there isn't a whole lot of audio?

Just kind of curious because my client size is only like 9.1 gigs and the game box system requirements says 20 gigs...

25 servers for JPN (population: 127,960,000)
28 servers for NA/EU (population: 740,308,000 + 528,720,588)

Clearly nobody saw the server load problem happening...
They blocked the JP servers for NA too now. Hard to not feel insulted at this point.

Yeah, that's a load of bullshit.  I don't understand how they underestimated the NA/EU population by so much.

Yeah, you say that. People will refuse to log off, preventing us from getting on.

That's exactly what's happening.  Not sure if it's true or not but I heard there's no mechanism to kick idle players off so you can just stay logged on for as long as you want (assuming no errors).

Anyway, I'm just glad I was able to make a character on a decent server before they locked it all down.  Played for a bit last night and didn't run into any issues once I was able to log in.

I'd probably be waaaay more pissed if I wasn't currently hooked on LoL =P
50  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Saints Row 4 - Wub Wub Wub on: August 25, 2013, 11:16:42 PM
You get superpowers at a certain point in the game, starting with two: a really, really fast run and a super jump. There's more but I haven't unlocked them yet, and you can upgrade them too to be faster/higher/whatever. It's so much fun.

Plus there's the fact that you're the President fighting off an alien invasion. And it's laden with shoutouts to other games (yes, Mass Effect included) and of course the past Saints Rows.

As Parn said, great music. I died laughing when Aerosmith played early on.

Nice! Gonna wait a bit though, maybe it shows up in sale or something. Can't wait to meet SR2 Shaundi again.

Same, looks awesome but gonna hold off for a bit.  Have more than enough to play right now that it's hard to pay attention to just what I have.  The super power collecting thing sounds awesome - probably something I'd just dive in and get whatever I could asap haha

Same.  Would love to play today but no biggie lots of other games to play.

Just a PSA; Both Nvidia and ATI just recently released beta drivers that seems to have improved the benchmark scores significantly, and therefore the client. Check em out.

NVIDIA: 326.80 Beta
ATI: Catalyst 13.8 Beta

Tried the 326.80 on my 560 TI, had issues with them so went back to 314.22. I was getting weird hangs with the mouse of all things and eventually win 7 would be come very unstable.  Found out theres been alot of issues with the 320's on 560 ti's. The 314.22 have been stable so far.

Thanks, I wanted to know this after my own issues with 320 drivers. What the fuck's gotten into nVidia drivers as of late? Or is it just that 560 Tis are unfriendly with this?

From what I found out on the evga forums and various others, it's mostly 560 TI's that were having this issue, although, theres so many variants of this card and others these days who knows till you try them...

Yeah mine is a 570 and I don't feel like screwing around with drivers just yet.  Game runs fine as it is so I think I'll wait for a non-beta driver (yes I'm aware that beta drivers are often fine.  just erring on the side of caution).

(Also if my copy of Xenoblade doesn't have a manual goddammit bobby)

unless you want one for completionists sake, you don't need one.  Everything is explained in game and stored in a menu that you can re-access at any time.

Problem is:

Employee: The game is 64.79$. Do you want the protection plan?
Buyer: no.
Employee: With our protection plan we cover any kind of damage for a full year. [...] Letting you enjoy your game worry free. So, I can add it?
Buyer: no.
Employee: Really? This game had some bad print runs and unless you plan to play it all within a week, which is pretty hard for RPGs, you might not know if you have a bad disk. I'd take it if I were you. (*this part is total bullshit invented to try and make you buy the plan*)
Buyer: no.

So it's not just saying no Dice... it's saying no then no then no.

I feel bad saying no so if the person was likeable at Gamestop (which is very rare), then I'll fill out the customer service thing and give them a 5 star rating and tell GS that they are awesome.

That explains my experiences with Radioshack.  They've tried to sell me a cell phone when I came in to buy batteries.  Like, normal double-A batteries.  I'm not making that up...

Ah Duracell?  Yeah they make a great battery.  You know what else uses batteries?  Cell phones.

Yeah, I really can't stomach buying from most retail shops these days.

I had a Power Glove.  It was so bad.

No, I don't mean that in a good way ;)

"Google showed no results for 'Power Glove Fist Fuck'"

I haven't received any email from SE.
No email about this registering.
No email about the code.
No nothing =/

same.  Why do we need to register again if we're already registered?  That doesn't make sense to me.

I don't think I follow you. Why would you be registering again? When you pre-order the game your retailer should have given you an 18 digit code (6-3-6-3 digits) to redeem on the FFXIV:ARR preorder site which gives you the 20 digit early access/pre-order item code to enter into your Square Enix account. If you select PS3 it gives you a 12 digit code for the client. This is totally independent of the beta.

Don't worry, I was lost too from all the other posts so that's why I wasn't making any sense.

After reading your post earlier I did what you wrote and registered the game using the code they gave me when I preordered it.  This afternoon I got the email for the early access key as well.  Between all the different sites they use and entering beta keys here, there, & everywhere; I was lost.

Now just going to cross my fingers that the PC Physical LE comes through since I got it from Digital River.
55  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Diablo 3? on: August 22, 2013, 11:26:14 PM
I enjoyed D3 enough to pick this up as Paladin does look kinda cool.  That is barring they don't charge a crazy amount for it and have enough content to justify whatever cost they charge.  I'm guessing since this is Blizzard we're talking about that it will be overpriced.

I found this info regarding the pre-order codes.

In short, a person contacted SE about the site not properly working and all, and they gave him an answer telling we should wait for the e-mail, even though the site is up.
Also, they said even if we tried to redeem the code and receive an error, or some that tried to redeem PS3 and got it registered as PC to stay calm that it will be fixed as soon as we receive the e-mail.

Let's just hope it truly works.

Ignoring the fact that they're completely unprepared with the website despite having way more time to work on it (JP players had their page up almost two weeks ago), if the website doesn't work properly, TAKE IT DOWN AND LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THE PAGE INFORMING PLAYERS WHEN IT WILL BE READY.  Seriously, is this fucking amateur hour?  Why would you leave the page up if it's not working as intended?  The average customer doesn't read Reddit or Twitter.

The 3102 error was understandable, even if their communication was awful.  This is just flat out stupid.

Has there ever been a launch of a hyped up MMO that didn't have a debacle?  Seems like they all fuck up somehow...

In addition, you can buy sake in a shop to change their mood.  Like taking a smart demon (I forget its classification, not sly but can be useful on sly) and giving it sake to turn it wild can make maxing out their loyalty super fast and easy.

that douchebag Junpei. But yeah, shadow characters are cool, jus hope they're not as broken as gold characters in GG and can actually see play.

I'm curious to see if shadow mode becomes the de facto choice for many characters.  Highly doubt it'll be as powerful as V-ism, A groove, Genei Jin, etc since it's not a full out CC mode, but still looks to be worth losing a burst for all the benefits you get from it.

Yukari's zan-bubble move looks exactly like Mu-12's Arrows of Heaven.  Hopefully will be more useful than hers.
