This dude looks like a lot like Doomtrain from FFVIII.

But can you suplex this train?

For Yggdra Union, at least, there's no need to import...

But yeah, Blaze Union is good.  I still haven't played Gloria Union, but I ought to some day...

Disgaea is a terrible example.  It's almost intentionally confusing with all the different mechanics they throw in.  Certainly convoluted at the very least.  Not to mention that I wouldn't exactly recommend SRPGs as a starting point anyway.  But that doesn't mean that there aren't more approachable games out there, because there certainly are.

I guess it's true, though, that there's kind of a limit to how complex FPSs get.  You may not like the genre (I'm not exactly crazy about it either), but they all play pretty much the same.  If you can play one then you can any of them.  Wait, that's part of what I dislike about them...

I'm surprised we've had no mention of Ayesha... shame, cuz it sounds like it got rid of the crappier parts of the Arland [?] series.

Is that really surprising?  Ayesha didn't come out that long ago and NISA typically takes a year or more to localize.  It's not like we had heard anything on Meruru this time last year either.

BTW, what were the crappy parts of the Arland series?

What RPG has a 10-word title?

Game of the year for me.  I'm calling it.

It's a PSP remaster.

Have any PSP remasters actually be released outside of Japan?  I'm a bit confused on this issue, because around the same time the PSP remasters were announced there was stuff like the God of War Origins collection being released here.  But that's a bit different.  Those were real ports, with trophies and stuff.  PSP remasters are more like PSP games being emulated on the PS3 (though often with HD assets and stuff).  SCEA can be picky about this stuff...

I believe somewhere, deep down inside, that Type-0 is still going to be localized...

I don't know why I believe this...

I love the Project Diva games but not everyone is into vocaloids so I guess I hesitate to recommend it to people unless they know what they're getting into.

If you're willing work your way through a lot of Japanese cutscenes (not all voiced, but at least the big plot stuff is), Valkyria Chronicles 3 is the best game in the series, in my opinion.  It plays basically like 2 did, so at least that part shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

If you want something a little different, Idolmaster 2 (for PS3) is worth a look.  No, really, at its core it's a fairly challenging management simulation game, though it also has rhythm game and visual novel components.  Most of the game can be done without knowing much Japanese, though it's definitely an issue in the visual novel segments...

Do you know any Japanese, Lard?  I think that would affect what I recommed...

Am I the only one who thinks the original fat PS3 is much more attractive?  Though it is, admittedly, huge.

If it comes here at all I strongly suspect a PSN release...

I was looking at the Xseed forums and it seems like this caught them (or at least Tom) by surprise as well.
2038  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Wii U to be 299/349$ and controllers ~175$ (to be confirmed soon) on: September 26, 2012, 04:34:53 AM
The Dreamcast's Japanese launch was a complete disaster.  It literally only had four games, and they were all terrible.  Shockingly they didn't sell many systems at first...

Its US launch (which was almost a whole year later) was considerably more successful.  Probably Sega's most successful launch, though it still doesn't even come close to what the PS2 did the following year.  It's all relative, I guess.

Anyway, this is Nintendo we're talking about.  They certainly have the production capacity and we're still a couple months out and yet Gamestop is no longer taking pre-orders since they're all sold out already.  What does that tell you?
2039  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Trails in the Sky HD on: September 26, 2012, 03:55:50 AM
It's coming to PS3.

Got to say, I didn't expect that.  This is for Japan, of course, but hopefully Xseed will bring it over.  Why wouldn't they?  They already translated it...

Thus far only FC has been announced, but I can't imagine Falcom would stop there.  Doing FC and not SC would just be mean.  But man, things are getting confusing...Zero no Kiseki is on Vita now, but these remakes are for PS3?  Well, at least Falcom is clearly interesting in platforms that aren't the PSP.  Pretty much anything non-PSP has a better chance of being localized...

Preorders are already selling out...regardless of what you think of the system it's no Dreamcast in terms of sales.

Though I seriously doubt it will do as well as the Wii did.
