It's a PSP remaster.

Have any PSP remasters actually be released outside of Japan?  I'm a bit confused on this issue, because around the same time the PSP remasters were announced there was stuff like the God of War Origins collection being released here.  But that's a bit different.  Those were real ports, with trophies and stuff.  PSP remasters are more like PSP games being emulated on the PS3 (though often with HD assets and stuff).  SCEA can be picky about this stuff...

I believe somewhere, deep down inside, that Type-0 is still going to be localized...

I don't know why I believe this...

I love the Project Diva games but not everyone is into vocaloids so I guess I hesitate to recommend it to people unless they know what they're getting into.

If you're willing work your way through a lot of Japanese cutscenes (not all voiced, but at least the big plot stuff is), Valkyria Chronicles 3 is the best game in the series, in my opinion.  It plays basically like 2 did, so at least that part shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

If you want something a little different, Idolmaster 2 (for PS3) is worth a look.  No, really, at its core it's a fairly challenging management simulation game, though it also has rhythm game and visual novel components.  Most of the game can be done without knowing much Japanese, though it's definitely an issue in the visual novel segments...

Do you know any Japanese, Lard?  I think that would affect what I recommed...

Am I the only one who thinks the original fat PS3 is much more attractive?  Though it is, admittedly, huge.

If it comes here at all I strongly suspect a PSN release...

I was looking at the Xseed forums and it seems like this caught them (or at least Tom) by surprise as well.

The Dreamcast's Japanese launch was a complete disaster.  It literally only had four games, and they were all terrible.  Shockingly they didn't sell many systems at first...

Its US launch (which was almost a whole year later) was considerably more successful.  Probably Sega's most successful launch, though it still doesn't even come close to what the PS2 did the following year.  It's all relative, I guess.

Anyway, this is Nintendo we're talking about.  They certainly have the production capacity and we're still a couple months out and yet Gamestop is no longer taking pre-orders since they're all sold out already.  What does that tell you?
2033  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Trails in the Sky HD on: September 26, 2012, 03:55:50 AM
It's coming to PS3.

Got to say, I didn't expect that.  This is for Japan, of course, but hopefully Xseed will bring it over.  Why wouldn't they?  They already translated it...

Thus far only FC has been announced, but I can't imagine Falcom would stop there.  Doing FC and not SC would just be mean.  But man, things are getting confusing...Zero no Kiseki is on Vita now, but these remakes are for PS3?  Well, at least Falcom is clearly interesting in platforms that aren't the PSP.  Pretty much anything non-PSP has a better chance of being localized...

Preorders are already selling out...regardless of what you think of the system it's no Dreamcast in terms of sales.

Though I seriously doubt it will do as well as the Wii did.

Even if you hooked an iOS device to your TV wouldn't you still have to stare at the iOS device anyway because the controls are all touch-based?  It's not like a controller where you can feel the buttons...

Where in Japan are you going, Lard?

Is there a demo for the US yet?  Too much of a pain to switch accounts on the Vita...
2038  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Kingdom Hearts HD -1.5 ReMIX- (PS3) and Kingdom Hearts for PC browsers announced on: September 24, 2012, 03:00:47 AM
Worse part about Type-0 is that it seems to be that the game is already translated in English...

Wait, what?

Or, you know, you could buy a new HD...

Here's the problem with what you're saying, ZeronHitaro:

1.  You seem to agree that having a new handheld that's more expensive than a 6 year old system is not unreasonable.
2.  Sony makes a redesign of their system that's almost certainly even cheaper to manufacture than the old system but is functionally exactly the same (other than a really minor HD upgrade which is something you could just do on your own anyway).
3.  You then arbitrarily decide that since this system is "new" the logic in point 1 shouldn't apply for some reason.
4.  Then you go on a completely off-topic rant about digital games or something.

If you buy a new computer; same company, same amount of RAM memory, ect; however you're buying a model with 750GB HD memory instead of the 500GB of your old computer, do you not call it a 'new computer'?

If somebody tried to sell me a new computer that was exactly the same as my 6 year old computer other than an incremental increase in the hard drive size and it didn't cost a fraction of what I paid 6 years ago then I would smack them in the face.

I count slim reductions as 'new' systems.

I'm sorry, but that's just dumb.  Especially since slimmer versions of consoles are usually intended to reduce manufacturing costs and are usually associated with price drops, which would make the gap even bigger.  If Sony did something weird here it's the fact that they didn't drop the PS3's price...in fact they actually increased the cost of the cheapest model (while bundling more junk, whatever...).

They practically are since they're intended to make you go "Hey; this is an upgrade, better pitch the old one and buy this one."

Who the hell thinks that?  New models are intended to reduce costs as I already mentioned and to attract new customers.  If there are a few idiots out there who will buy a system they already have just because it's in a different box, well I'm sure Sony won't complain but they're hardly the the target market.

The Wii/3DS comparison doesn't follow the logic of my argument anyway. You missed the point where I'm talking about the cycles being within an approximate year of each other. A better comparison would be the Wii U/3DS. Which will be roughly $300 (Wii U basic) to $170 (3DS basic). A perfect example of how your handheld system, within a rough one year gap of your newest console system, should be cheaper. Not more expensive.

That's a completely cherry-picked biased comparison.  Remember the 3DS came out in the very beginning of 2011 and it was still more expensive than a Wii then (while the Vita is almost a year younger).  Yet you insist on comparing it to something that's not even out yet.  By that logic we ought to be comparing the Vita to the PS4 or whatever, which I assure you will cost more than a Vita when it's released.
