I DO have a Cadburry easter egg! Tis the season!
MiniEggers all the way...!
Caramel cream egg or bust.

Too sweet.

Lindt/Lindor chocolate eggs ftw

I'm on that "too sweet" train too.  Plus kinda messy, then sticky.  My love of caramel is gone nowadays.

More important:
Fucking truffles... awesome...when they happen. :/

Everything you guys are talking about is too sweet for me...

I'm munching on some 85% cacao chocolate right now.  That's the stuff.  There are so many wonderful, complex flavors in chocolate when you don't drown them out with sugar...

Er...I've been studying Japanese on and off for like 10 years and there's still stuff I can't play.  Mind you I haven't exactly been doing it full-time, but there's a lot to learn.

That said, I've really only been using my Japanese skills to play import games for the last couple of years, and I think I have improved a lot in that time.  Games can be really good practice tools.  Look for games that have both text and voice and let you advance through the dialogue at your own pace.  (i.e., visual novel-ish games, rather than modern, more cinematic cut scenes)  Heck, some visual novels have a history function that even let's you replay the audio for past lines, though that's rare in any other genre.

But still, you're going to need some sort of foundation of basic skills before you should even think about playing import games.  Looking up words you don't know is one thing, but you should at least know basic grammar and sentence structure.  Learning kanji is a seemingly endless process, but if you don't even know hiragana and katakana then you should probably forget it.

Why do I do this to myself...I try to work on my dissertation during the day but get jack shit done.  Then I end up staying all night and that seems to be the only time I actually make progress.  It would be one thing if this only happened once in a while, but this thing is friggin long and I've been following this pattern everyday.  I'm starting to lose touch with what a normal human schedule is like...

Gah, need to write...

What's a 'normal' person doing on RPGFan?

Well, I initially thought chances of localization were pretty good.  NISA has a history of localizing Compile Heart titles, after all.  And it's not like this is a PSP game.  You would think they would want to get every PS3 game they could.

Then I saw that bath trailer.  I honestly don't know if that would fly here.  It looks worse than AT3...

LoL- I totally thought the same thing.... What is it with the japanese and bathing? It seems there is always a bath scene in everything.... if not a bath-house completely featured in some respect....

There are actually legit reasons for that.  Bathing is a big thing in Japanese culture.  And frankly, they're on to something.  I don't know if you've ever been to Japan, but if you do go make sure to check out an onsen.  They are friggin nice...

And bathing with other people (of the same gender) is much more normal in Japan than in the west.  It's not generally considered a big deal.  And yeah, shared baths do exist, but they're very much the exception rather than the rule.  Even then they would typically have separate sections for changing and washing (yes, you're supposed to wash yourself before you get in the bath...it's a thing) and it's only the big bath part that's shared, in which case most people would wrap themselves in a towel or something while they're using it.

Watch this and be horrified.

I thought I had a high tolerance for that kind of stuff but even I'm disgusted.

You can setup different accounts on different memory cards, but unfortunately the process for switching between them is not as simple as swapping cards.  There is some info stored on the Vita itself and you have to restore to factory defaults and then manually re-enter all your account info and stuff everytime you switch.  If it's something you're only going to do once in a while maybe it's not so bad, but if you expect to be switching back and forth a lot then it's involved enough to be a real pain...

Also, you wouldn't get trophies in your main account when playing stuff from a different region anyway...

Really, it's best to just stick with physical cards for importing.  What worries me is when games start having DLC and stuff.

I'm obviously out of it...for some reason I thought I was posting in the Last Story thread...

So is this the bacon?

Ar Tonelico 2 to Ar Tonelico 3, anyone?  Holy crap that was a step back.  In a lot of ways, but the battle system especially.  Ar Tonelico 2 has one of the most fun and unique battle systems I've ever seen in a JRPG (even though it was a tad obtuse at first...).  Ar Tonelico 3 had a shitty generic action system that's only innovation was attempting to make fan service a game mechanic...

I thought Totori's battle system was fine.  Functional if not particularly exciting.  And it was better balanced than Rorona's.

Fact: You can't touch digi-girl boobs.

No yet, anyway...I'm sure they're working on that.

So...Xseed was added as a partner to the Steam registry and apparently they have some big announcement tomorrow.  The announcement is bacon-related...OK, I don't understand where the bacon fits in.
2248  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Anime/Manga Journal on: February 19, 2012, 06:26:39 PM
The earlier discussion about anime prices reminds me...the good old days are back!

$75 for 4 episodes!  And that's Rightstuf's price...MSRP is $95.

OK, so there is a lot of extra crap in there.  But most it it really is crap.  The soundtrack is cool and the 'short manga' might be interesting (though how short is it...) but that still doesn't justify the price.

Ah well, I'll wait and get the box set.

No clue how they expect to make money off that. Even the regular edition is $30 for 4 episodes (DVD) or $40 for 4 episodes (blu-ray) which is expensive for what other series sell at.

I don't know, there are a lot of crazy Madoka fans...

I mean, it is a good show, but that's still a bit much.  Especially since it's available for free (legally) on Hulu and CR now.

Where did you check?  Neptunia has an average of 45 on Metacritic...

Apologies if you've already since this 'cause it ain't exactly new, but it was new to me...

I recently discovered that there is a moe anthropomorphism of GLaDOS floating around and there are lots and lots of youtube videos featuring her (mostly using MMD with a model that's clearly based off of Miku, but somehow it just works).  It's just a silly, fun idea.  Here are a few of my favorites (yeah there's a bunch but they're reallly short):

But it didn't stop there...the turrets:

How about a full-length music video

OK, I'll stop...
