FFXII has a pretty large variety of locals, you just start in the desert.  And some of them are totally optional so you'll never see them unless you're exploring or doing sidequests.

Honestly, FFXII is probably my second favorite numbered FF game.

Oh, that Fan Expo in Toronto.  It's humid indoors; the people make the heat, and the sweat makes the air...moist.

What, you don't have AC?  I've been to a lot of conventions, big and small, many of which are in the summer.  The heat inside is rarely a problem...

OK, I'll talk about the current season:

Fate/Zero: Continues to be awesome.

Nyarko-san: Quite funny, if you like crazy over-the-top stuff.  Lot's of references to the Call of Cthulhu pen-and-paper games too.

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia: Meh.  OK, but the manga is better.

Bodacious Space Pirates: This show is almost done and I still can't figure it out.  It's a weird mix of serious space opera-ish stuff with things that are just stupid.  Who wears miniskirts in zero-G?

Kids on the Slope: I'm only watching this because of Shinichirō Watanabe and Yoko Kanno.  The music is decent, but most of the show is boring melodrama.  Can't recommend it...

Hyouka: Great animation...yeah, great animation.

Kore wa Zombie desu ka S2: What is this crap?  The first season was nonstop ridiculousness, but S2 doesn't even come close to the same level.  They just keep repeating the same jokes, and they're not even very good jokes.

Sket Dance: The only long-running series I still watch.  Er...it continues to be Sket Dance.  Funny, but not very serious.

Do the battles take that much longer than Yggdra Union or something?  That didn't have mid-battle saving either but it never bothered me...

Edit: The Classic Game Room guy loved it, though I don't know if that means much since he seems to like everything.
2540  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Agni's Philosophy [Next-Gen Final Fantasy Tech Demo] on: June 11, 2012, 05:28:58 PM
Or maybe they just realized that this would be a quick and easy port that took barely any resources and a lot of people in Japan have PSPs.  Again, it's probably not even coming out here...

I don't see why this is worth complaining about.  I seriously doubt it's having any effect on bigger projects.

And speaking of remakes abroad....http://www.siliconera.com/2012/06/10/final-fantasy-iii-job-changes-from-ds-to-psp/

Thanks Squeenix. That'll surely get me to rebuy the game at full price. I suppose it'll be too much to ask for the rest of the Famicom version this time around, eh? Or am I supposed to take this to mean that you guys are too busy remaking V & VI for the 3DS/Vita to even bother with a retarded romhack bonus dungeon or a lackluster bonus job? lololol

I can't figure out exactly what you're bitching about...you don't have to buy it (in fact it's probably not even going to come out here given the state of the PSP market).  And I, II, and IV are already on the PSP so why not...

Really?  The reviews I've read sound like pretty much what I would expect from a Sting title: obtuse but rewarding.
2543  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: E3 Trailers on: June 08, 2012, 05:12:57 PM
I know there's been a lot of debate about E3's lackluster announcements, but has any one really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

What is this I don't even.

My thoughts exactly...

Bill Clinton spoke at my college graduation (for real).  I remember him being a pretty good speaker, but I can't for the life of me remember what he said...

Madden is an RPG.  (So says EA)

Well, it IS running on the Infinity Engine, though why on Earth they thought going to a 12 year old engine used for overhead, turn based sprite games eludes me.

You must gather your team before venturing forth.

So when is RPGFan going to start covering Madden? ;)

Soul Sacrifice trailer

Meh.

Platinum Games' P-100

This looks a lot more interesting than anything Nintendo showed at their conference...
2549  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: E3 Trailers on: June 05, 2012, 02:40:31 PM
Nintendo gets points for focusing more on games than the other two...but then none of the games they showed were new or interesting.  I was seriously bored for the whole conference.  For all the 'innovation' that Wii U was supposed to bring they sure had an awful lot of ports and sequels...

P4G trailer as well!

Not much to say...I love P4, but do I really have time to replay it...
