You win a million points for posting a Look Around You video, Yoda.  I love them all.

This is Nintendo we're talking about.  The 3DS's specs aren't significantly above the 6 year old PSP.

Is anyone else worried about how much one of these fancy controllers is going to cost?
2628  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: A dark game? on: April 16, 2011, 01:12:06 PM
Are we talking "dark" in terms of what a goth teenager writes in their diary and calls poetry? In my eyes a good dark story has to have light to be juxtaposed against. A long string of dark events would not tug your emotions as much as a few dark moments mixed in with brighter, more joyous moments.

Or maybe dark as in hard to see shit?

In that case should probably switch to FPSs and play quake

Doom 3, man.  id was a little too eager to show off their new flashlight effects...

Yeah, I was going to say Ratchet and Clank too.  It seems like a no-brainer it it's first party and there have been rumours about it before.

For a big third party franchise MGS seems like the most likely candidate.

It's not going to be RPGs.

If you don't think Mario Galaxy is a fun game then I question your gamerness

I've played it at a friend's place.  It's a fine distraction if you just want to kill some time, but a game I would go out of my way to play?  Meh.

I never got a Wii so I guess I'll just wait for this since it's supposed to be backwards compatible.  Of course, the reason I never got a Wii is because it doesn't have any games that I care about...we'll see how they do this round.

There is no way Nintendo is going to make a new console without motion controls.  That's ridiculous.  Motion controls have made them dump trucks of money.  In the eyes of the general public that's their 'thing' now.

Don't get a GBA for Riviera when it's also available on PSN for the PSP (probably for a lot less than any used GBA copy you could find today).

While you're at it, don't get anything until you finish some damn games ;)

P4 fixed a bunch of things storywise too ;)

P3 does deserve credit for innovation, but I can't help but feel that P4 is a much better game in every way.  Improved mechanics, tighter story, better characters, better pacing, etc.  At times P3 really felt like they just stuck a bunch of anime cliches in a blender.

But there is no way P5 will be "the same game with re-tweaked mechanics and presentation" after all this time.  P4 was like that because it game out so soon after P3 and was clearly re-using a lot of assets.  Whatever P5 turns out to be I think we can all agree that it's probably not going to be a PS2 game...though PSP is probably possible.
2635  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: White Knight Chronicles 2 and WKC PSP coming in English this May on: April 12, 2011, 12:53:51 PM
Fully remastered and re-developed? I find it hard to believe that they went through so much trouble. If 2 ends up being a good game and 1 has been significantly improved this would be one hell of a package.

Believe it.  Same was true for the Japanese version and that's been out for a while.

Though the Japanese version actually required you to play through WKC1 before you could take on the WKC2 story unless you had a clear data save.  They are making that optional for the western release.

I'm in the middle of chapter 2 and haven't felt that way at all, Aeolus.  I've just been playing normally and haven't lost a single battle.  The game seems pretty easy, really.  I haven't felt the need to do anything to 'break' it.  I tend to keep my S-Breaks in reserve but then end up not using them at all.  I did run from one fight early on but it was a monster-in-a-box that I wasn't expecting and clearly wasn't prepared for.

And the game seems to actively discourage grinding since if your level gets too high for the enemies you're fighting they barely give you any rewards.

I love Xenodurr.  Been a long time since it updated, though...

I don't know about you, but my biggest complaint about S-E is how bad their last few original projects have been.  Heck, at this rate I would probably like them more if they did nothing but remakes of their old classics.

Atlus doesn't have that problem.

Oh stop complaining when companies give people what they want.

I also find it really ironic how the Top 5 Main FF's are my Top 5, just rearranged a bit. :D

How is that in any way ironic?
