Funny how a lot of RPG fans like this action adventure style. if I were to point it, not only the amazing graphics and gameplay, of course, but what I think makes this games caters to a lot of people are the characters and the story telling.

Lot's of people like the Uncharted games.  Some of them also happen to like RPGs.

I don't think there's any particular link other than the fact that these games are really, really good and most people play more than one genre of game.

Covers and occasional special pages will have color, yes, but the original magazine serialization is entirely black and white.  Those things only come later.  And are you seriously arguing that the artist is relying on color to distinguish the characters when 99% of the time they're in black and white?

But the manga (where the actual character designs were made) was in black and white!  There was no 'philosophy' in place here...

I very nearly spent $700 on ski boots once.  (But then I found a discontinued but still new and perfectly functional model on clearance for much less, so that worked out pretty well.)

My hiking boots are due for replacement (they're about ten years old) and I can easily see dropping a couple hundred on a new pair.

Just trying to relate to the conversation ;)

You are thinking waaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard about this.

The hair colors don't mean anything.  It's not supposed to be died or anything else.  These are highly stylized characters that don't look particularly realistic in any way, so why are you freaking out just because they don't have realistic hair colors?  If you were to suddenly plop these characters into a realistic setting their bizarre proportions would be far more disconcerting than their hair colors, and yet you seem perfectly fine with that.  But you then go and write four paragraphs about how their hair colors are unrealistic.  To me that just seems like a completely arbitrary thing to single out.

In short, the hair colors are not intended to be realistic nor are they intended to carry any meaning.  This doesn't bother me in the slightest and I'm not sure why it bothers you so much.

Type-0 looks like it will have all that and more but it is, of course, not out yet...

TitS all the way!  Starmongoose is right that it starts kind of slow, but it's not like it's bad or anything.  It's just that they focus more on character development at the beginning.  Which means that when shit does go down (as it inevitably does) you actually care about the people involved.

LoH: TitS is my favorite game for the PSP.  Everyone should play it.

I'm baffled that these commercials are Japan-only.  It's Harrison friggin Ford!  The concept for the commercials is perfect.  Remove the Japanese subtitles (it's not like Harrison Ford speaks Japanese so his comments are in English anyway) and bam, you're done.

(By the way, if you want to watch the commercials the official site won't let you without a Japanese IP address, but unsurprisngly the vids are floating around the youtubes already.)

Type-0 got 39/40 in Famitsu.  Wonder who gave it the 9? ;)

The best Christmas present ever.

I'm glad slice of life exists while a good portion of fandom is busy with what's "moe" right now.

You say that as if those two things are incompatible.  Clearly you've never watched K-On.

I just finished watching Hanasaku Iroha. I'm speechless right now; while certainly not without flaws, the entire work is just so charming, and the characters feel so real (because of those flaws), that I couldn't help but totally fall in love with it--and them. It's been a while since I've had such a hard time walking away from characters when there is some actual closure, and I can't wait for the "new visual work" next year.

Extremely impressed. If you like slice of life/coming of age stories at all, I highly suggest it. The animation is also very crisp and vibrant, and nearly the entire cast feels fully realized.

I completely agree.  One of the best shows of the year.

I'm struggling to find something similar right now. Though I definitely don't expect the same animation quality from, well, anything, I'd really love something with the same "feel".

Slice of life animes are not uncommon, but ones of this quality are.  I wracked my brain trying to think of something similar and all I could come up with was Honey and Clover.  It's an older show, but if you haven't seen it then I would quite recommend it.

How does it undermine the point?  The point was to make money off of used game sales, which is what they are doing.  I completely agree with Maxximum, here.  It's impossible that Gamestop is doing this without paying WB for the privilage.  First of all I don't even know how else they could get the codes, but even if they managed somehow they would be sued six ways from Sunday for doing this without permission.

If anything I think this demonstrates how massive Gamestop's margins on used games are, since they can afford to buy codes without changing their prices.
