Single-Player RPGs / Re: Things you can't bear in a JRPG

I personally find the Kingdom Hearts games to have potential as well, particularly when it comes to humor as one would expect from a mashup, but they largely fail in that regard. Hearing comical-voiced characters like Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in games mostly devoid of comedy is pretty damn awkward, in my opinion.

On one side, I agree.  Kingdom Hearts is an example of a series that got too big for its britches.  Like it tried too hard to maintain its child-like innocence with the darker themes the series kept bringing in as it went on.  I haven't played Chain of Memories (never plan to since I dislike card-based gameplay), but I felt that beginning with KH2 and going on with Birth by Sleep and the Dream Drop Distance the series lost its thematic balance.  Not to mention that the storyline has just become so confusing that it's hard to follow or care by this point.

On the other hand, there is just something fun about watching cute Disney mascots kick ass wholesale.  Mickey, in particular, going full on Jedi Master with his Keyblade is just badass.

I won't lie.  The new 4.2 trailer made me hard.  So much FF6 nostalgia!  :O

I've been trying to avoid getting back into FFXIV because of finances and an upcoming move to another state, but damn that trailer is tempting me.  I'm not even that deep into SB yet. ;_;

I am stoked!  As in my inner child crawled out from under a rock and wept tears of joy stoked!  I'm looking forward to hearing how the soundtrack fares...or if there will be an option to play with the original OST.  So much of the music still gives me goosebumps.

I'm not getting the hate for the designs, though.  It's cute.  Not "moe moe, trying too hard to give me diabetes" cute, but just quaintly cute.  I think it fits the atmosphere of the SNES game quite well.

So between that poster and having just finished watching Kingsglaive for the first time, I'm finding myself highly intrigued.  Now I'm wondering if I should just preorder this or wait until the hype and hate has died down.

Nice interview.  It helps that her P5 character, Haru, is one of the characters I'm most intrigued about (the other being Makoto).  It's also good to get insight into the industry from their perspective.

So looks like the sequel to last year's Operation Abyss is coming over next year for both the Vita and Steam.  Kind of surprising since there wasn't much buzz about the first game.  Looks like Abyss is getting a Steam release as well.

Sweet! Kain get his "Holy Dragoon" and Bartz looks amazing as a Freelancer!

And Ramza.... just still looks so.... so beautiful.......

Starts scribbling Bartz/Arvis yaoi

But they're not even from the same game....

As if *that's* ever stopped anyone.  :p

I'd rather have an Agrias skin (or Agrias alt).

That or a Chaos side rival/antagonist.

Agrias would be awesome in this game.  Honestly, I'd like to see Gafgarion as her Chaos side opposite number.  This needs to happen!

Lookin' good, Vaan.  Putting a proper shirt on makes quite a diffeence.  Definitely better than his "cosplaying as Disney's Aladdin" look.

Was never a fan of Rutee's outfit...or her character for that matter.  I suppose it's better than wearing (virtually) nothing for Velvet.  Would have preferred Mary's outfit, though, if we're going to do a ToD dlc.  :P

Mind's officially blown!

Seeing as I managed to lose my game save for SRWJ a while back, I never did get to see how it ended.  I'll just have to make up for it with this.  :)

Note: this guy is uploading the attacks of a lot of mechs in the game. Check out the updated visuals for your favorite mechs and drool.

So much fanservice!  And I don't mean just the usual kind.

Gespenst Phantom (Haken)

That final attack. lol

At least LoD had some cool music...and some of the hammiest voice acting at that point in the PS1 era.

I want to play this game actually it does look more interesting to me than the first one, I just have too many other games I started in the intermedium, as such would feel irresponsible starting yet another one.

^ Pretty much this for me.  I just got my copy in the mail, too.
