Estelle has snark with a massive helping of pluck, which is why I like her so much.

Rean at least has enough snark and savvy to avoid being a complete doormat, so there's hope for him yet.  Especially since Alisa is bringing the tsun early on.  The other classmates haven't grabbed me as of yet, though.

Who's everyone's favorite character?
A. Sara
B. Sara
C. Some other answer that is wrong.

(Note: I may or may not be loopy from lack of sleep)
I've only just finished the Prologue, but so far Sara is the only right answer.

Though it's only the beginning so there's plenty of time for the Aveng...er...Class VII to find their traction. :P

I do like the idea of Elena being recruitable; doubly so since I imagine the Turks are getting the same treatment as AVALANCHE in the reboot.

Or failing that, a chapter where the Turks are playable would be nice, as well.  Would be cool to see what they're up to when they're not fighting Cloud & co.  Though that might be a whole game in and of itself.

Moar Jessie plz! kthxbye.

Right with you on this.  Her dying on the tower in Section 7 and Blank getting petrified in FFIX always stuck with me for some reason.

At least Blank got better.  Jessie, we hardly knew ye....

What about during the time when Cloud
Code:
gets mako poisoning and is out of the party for a while, and Cid has to take over as leader
wielding a long spear/polearm?

I forgot that Cid is party leader temporarily.  I'm excited for that portion of the remake, as Cid was my favorite character back when I was a kid.

Also, as Taelus so wisely pointed out, character switching is 100% confirmed part of battles.  In fact, seeing Barret do "Big Shot" was one of my favorite parts of the new trailer. :P
I assume it was "Big Shot" anyways.  Could have been a Fire spell, but... either way, it looked awesome, shooting it out of his SUPER AMAZING LOOKING gun arm.
There's also that brief bit where you play as Tifa, up to the Bitchslap fight between her and Scarlett.  Hopefully, that'll be a fun part of the game.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was "Big Shot" Barrett was doing (along with Cloud doing "Braver".  Can't wait to see how they do the other character's fighting styles, like if Aerith still simply pokes things with a stick of if she actually learns some kung fu (okay, so the latter isn't very likely, but it would still be funny).

I wonder how they're doing to do magic.  It's clearly an option judging by the UI and I've always liked making Cloud a primary magic user as opposed to the norm of him being a swordsman.

I wept a little. Early impressions from me are still pretty damn surprised this is happening. It looks gorgeous and sounds gorgeous. Yeah, Cloud still seems a little too mopey; he should be a bit more sassy, or with a bit more attitude. My jaw is still on the floor otherwise.

He sounded more broody than mopey to me, which felt about right.  I'd like to hear more of him in actual conversation, like with Tifa at Seventh Heaven (if only because I want to hear Tifa's voice, too. :P)

And I'm liking Barret's new look.  He looks and sounds like freakin' Blade, except with more gravel.

I think for once I can feel safe being hyped for more of this.

I've never played DQVII, so it will be nice to get a chance to.  And more DQVIII is never a bad thing.

Yes, please.

I've been playing this for the past couple of months and I have yet to put the game down.  After a couple of false starts, I've finally gotten a character up to the end of the 2.0 storyline.  It can be quite a grind, but this is one of those occasions when I don't mind the grind at all.  Haven't felt that in years!

I'm loving the story!  I agree that the story and the world in general feels more like "Final Fantasy" than most have felt in ages.  It's like, all the themes, the music, everything that got me into the series is there.
24  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Megami Tensei Topic on: February 05, 2015, 08:14:46 PM
Am I the only one who liked the awesome music in the trailer?  Both the music and visuals gave me a Read Or Die vibe, almost.  I'm hoping that's representative of what to expect in game, because it's not often you get to hear a soundtrack like that.

Yeah these are probably a guy and a girl.

My first thought was that they looked like younger versions of Theodore and Elizabeth.  I doubt that's who they are.  They'll probably just be new additions to the Velvet Room family (who keeps popping these kids out, anyway?)

Can we also assume that the Velvet Room will take the appearance of a jail cell this time?

So got back into DA:I after some distraction and I've just reached Skyhold at around 33 hours.  Pretty much the bulk of that time was spent in the Hinterlands, though I've still yet to kill any dragons.  I'll probably start hunting them down once I learn my character's specializations.

Gawd, Skyhold is massive!  Can't wait to see what it's like when you fix it up.

I was originally planning on only spending enough time in the Hinterlands to build up the necessary power to move to the next plot point, but I got sucked into exploring and fighting and doing quests for pretty much everyone I ran across.  I think it was worth it, I was up to level 6 once I finally managed to tear myself away.

So after an impromptu all-nighter in the Hinterlands (still haven't finished everything there yet), I think I'm finally getting the hang of this.  Having Cassandra tank for my Inquisitor while Varric, Solas, and I focus fire on the mobs has proven to be rather effective.  There have only been a couple cases where I've had to quaff healing potions (usually at rifts), otherwise between Cass' tanking and Solas Barrier spamming we've done a good job of keeping ourselves alive.

Granted, this is on Normal mode.  It might take a bit more thought and attention to detail on higher difficulties.

The AI is decently smart this time around. Dagger Rogues will try to get behind enemies to flank them, companions will set off Combos if they have a skill available to do so.

So you're saying trust the AI a little more?  I could try that.

I'd also like to go on record saying that Cassandra is one of the most tsundere-type of characters I have seen in a long time, but in a good way.  Tough as nails, takes no crap, and highly focused, yet she has the most adorable tender side.

Finished the prologue last night.  This game is a lot of fun, but the whole point and click tactical camera thing on the PC is going to take some getting used to.  I don't feel safe leaving my companion AIs to fight on their own because I'm afraid they'll get themselves killed.  Really wish I could more tightly customize their tactics, but work with what you have, I guess.

Yes, you will be able to listen to the soundtrack after downloading it. Heres a taste of the music with a combat theme:

Thanks.  I found the soundtrack after some digging.  It really is some beautiful work.
