601  The Rest / General Discussions / All new and better DS on: June 15, 2006, 12:13:16 AM
Picked mine up on the street date at my best buy. Got brain age for free with a promo deal, too.

I'll tell you, the brightness of the games makes you blind at first. It's like, "OH MY GOD WAS ANIMAL CROSSING ALWAYS THIS COLOR HAPPY?" O_o

I still have my old DS. Seeing if my friends wanna buy it before slepping it off to gamestop.

Overall, quite happy with my purchase.
602  The Rest / General Discussions / EB Games - controlled by communist nazis on: June 07, 2006, 12:10:41 PM
That's too bad, Dios :(

I think what gets me about EB/Gamestop is the absurdly high prices on USED games. Case in point: Yesterday I was looking around at a big EB store in San Francisco for my birthday. I rented Kingdom Hearts II from Gamefly and they offer it used for about 38 bucks. They don't charge shipping costs - only tax.

How much was it at EB? 45 BUCKS. new? 50! What the HELL, EB?! Even with a discount card, I'd be paying LESS at Gamefly, which will most likely be 40 all together.

It's half the reason I've been buying used games lately from Gamefly as opposed to EB/Gamestop. It's cheaper! :( EB IS good for super old games though, mostly gameboy games (though 15 for Tetris! Come the fuck on, EB!)

Vay.

Everyone sees it as mediocre but me. :( I guess I am touched.

Even more ignorant question: I'm not entirely sure what wi-fi is! Is it wireless internet support, like the DS? Would that mean that the cheaper model couldn't go online?

Basically, yes. Or at least (and I am totally not sure on this) it'd be a hard-wired connection.

Something is wrong with gaming when my IPOD costs LESS than a PS3.

I'm just saying, yanno.

Female lead is good, ever since 7 the male lead is getting more and more feminine looking, might as well just sod it and make him into a girl.

Or the screen could be of a guy ...at this rate. =P

Don't quell my hopes! I'm thrilled that there is finally a true female lead in a FF game!

Though why does sh look like Yuna/Ashe/Rinoa thrown into a blender and thus this is what we get? :|

I was impressed that the PSP was getting an RPG. (it's becoming barebones in the RPG department on the PSP) I still need to pick up the last Legend of Heroes game, though.

Sadly, the only RPGs the PSP seems to get are ports.

Has this been comfirmed for release in America? Cuz it looks purdy.

Bad, yeah, but you have to give the guys and gals some credit for working on the thing for two years. I actually think these fan-made movies are kind of cool, in a way, because these are people who really care for what they're doing. Sure, it might not have the best of acting, storytelling or special effects, but it does have a very big heart. If people want to spend two years of their life on making a Zelda movie, then hey, more power to them. I'm sure that the intended audience is going to like it.

You're joking, right?

I mean, NOTHING is more insane than the ultimate Zelda fanboy who demands 'omg Zelda's hair is supposed to be blonde!!' and 'omg Zelda is not an RPG you fucktard :{' and 'Link and Malon FOREVER <3 <3 <3'

I mean, check out the forums section of that page. Supports my theory right there. The intended audience will HATE this movie.
610  The Rest / General Discussions / Prices of Game Rentals. on: April 11, 2006, 11:26:07 PM
Like KeeperX, I'm also a proud Gamefly subscriber. I mostly joined it because the two places to rent games from where I live (Hollywood Video and Blockbuster) are not only notoriously expensive, but they often don't have the games I want to rent. Hollywood in particular has virtually NO RPGs to rent. The last one I was able to rent from them was Fire Emblem for GC.

I have a habit of trusting the word of mouth of my friends, buying a 40-50 game only to find I hate it or lose interest halfway through. Gamefly is awesome for that, because I can play it and see if I like it first.

Another thing people don't know about Gamefly is their 'Keep It' feature. If you like a game you're renting enough, you can buy the game at a used game price and they'll ship your the box and manual. I used it to buy Animal Crossing WW (I swore I'd never buy another AC again...so much for that!) and I'm considering buying Suikoden V from them, since I'm renting it now and it's oh so awesome.

If Gamefly, or anything akin to it (there are other rental companies besides just gamefly) didn't exsist, I'd probably not rent games.
611  The Rest / General Discussions / 911 Dispatcher's Mistake Leads to Mother's Death on: April 10, 2006, 12:15:25 PM

I'd just like to point out that for all anybody knows, when she "passed out" it could have been due to an aneurism and she would have been dead before this kid called 911. So I fail to see how she is "responsible" for someone's death. She is however, stupid as fuck for not taking it seriously.

Actually, I think I heard on the news that she had an enlarged heart, so more than likely it was a heart problem. Yeah, she could have been dead before help arrived, but to me that doesn't matter. She's still responsible for having a hand in her death (the dispatcher, I mean).

Edit: I worked off knowledge from what I heard on TV, but didn't look at the article. She's /not getting fired/? That pisses me the fuck off, she is responsible for someone DYING because of her incompetence. God fucking dammit, I'm thinking I'm going to be better off keeping phone numbers to the police and hospital around if that's how these stupid shitbags work.

WHAT?! She's not getting fired?! If this isn't negligence, I don't know what the hell is!

That woman should not only be fired, but sued until she's broke. This is insanity.

EDIT: According to the article, here's why she's not being fired:

Officials said the 911 operator will be disciplined, but because of her years of service she will not be fired.

FUCK THAT. Someone just DIED because she's a cold-hearted ho. Years of service don't make up for the fact she had the ability to send out someone to help, prank or not, and she negelected to do WHAT SHE WAS HIRED TO DO.

614  The Rest / General Discussions / Bush may have directly OK'd Plame leak on: April 07, 2006, 06:13:29 PM
I think what really bugs me most (and I failed to mention this before) is that Bush tends to validate everything he does because of terrorism. Iraq was because of terrorism (and the information was faulty). Wiretapping is to stop terrorism. I'm almost getting the feeling that if Bush got drunk and decided to take a dump on the White House lawn and got caught, it'd totally be okay because he did it to fight terrorism!

...Okay, no, I don't imagine that happening, but I sat there laughing at the mental picture for quite a while. I'm a sick, sick woman. ;)

And to whoever mentioned the Justices, I agree. I don't mind Roberts but for the MOST part (except for Myers...I THINK that was her last name.) Bush essentially got what he wanted with the Supreme Court -- a right leaning one.
615  The Rest / General Discussions / Bush may have directly OK'd Plame leak on: April 07, 2006, 04:11:53 PM
The sad thing is he really really should be impeached for this (he's not denying he did it), but it actually IS legal (well, what he did), so no impeaching.

I do get sick of the American people just sitting on their asses and doing jack except for a select few. I don't care if you're Democrat or Republican. This stinks. This President has serious issues with Checks and Balances, first with wiretapping, the Patriot Act (Which would be okay if it didn't give the Government SO MUCH POWER), and now this.

I have no problem with Republicans. I don't agree with the overall view but there HAVE been good Republican Presidents and governments, and there are actually a few republican viewpoints I agree with (Would you believe I'm actually for the Death Penalty?). It's the Neo-Conservitive viewpoint I utterly, utterly hate with every fibre of my being. And maybe with a GOOD, smart government maybe it could have worked. Maybe. But based on the overall viewpoints it has it's so easy to just get carried away with 'demoracy or nothing!' and have severe power issues. I hope history will see this entire neo-conservitive viewpoint as being an utter failure.

For the sake of arguement, name ONE thing that has worked within the past four years. The only thing I can think of on the top of my head is how the Surpreme Court shaped up.

Normally I keep my mouth shut on politics because I expect to be flamed, but this made me so angry.

Here's the proof on the whole legality thing, btw:
