I owned a psp - and played through just about every major RPG for the system. I traded my psp into my vita.

Mistake? Eh. Who knows. Still too soon to tell.

Just excited to play through FF7 for the first time in less than 2 weeks

Definitely. I've heard two different stories to this, so I guess we will have to wait and see.

Ign reports they will all be available. There's no direct comment from Sony on the issue. Lol. Believe me.

Back in February, I bought a Playstation Vita in hopes of playing PSOne Classics atleast soon after launch.

...........

Right. Still nothing. Months of waiting and wondering if they were ever going to even add them has finally come to an end! August 28th - they will be made available for download.

So! With that said, I ask for suggestions of great PSX RPG classics that I can download off the PSN.

Keep in mind, when this young teenage boy was faced with the decision to follow Nintendo into the 64 bit era or try out this rivaling Sony Playstation - I made the mistake of going with the N64. I thought the N64 would be the home of many great RPGs like the SNES was. (I made the mistake again when I went with the GameCube! I suck!)

I've played no PSX RPGs. That's what I'm getting at. Even the famed FF7. So please...lend this old school RPG fan some good PSOne Classics?

Dawn of the New World was ok. It was fun getting to see the old cast and everything. Sucked not all the original voice actors came back for it. But worst part?

Oh that wasn't Lloyd doing all that shady stuff. It was a bad guy in disguise. Or some shit like that. It was horrible. Like it was all a dream

It's hard for me to pick any one Tales game as a favorite. Me personally, I think this series just keeps getting better and though I may look back at one fondly, I'm always blown away by the next one when it comes out.

It's tough, Vesperia and Symphonia are both up there high, but I recently replayed Abyss on 3DS, and fell in love with that all over again. I did play Legendia and though not nearly as memorable, I also don't think it's as bad as it is made out to be.

Graces F did so many things right, so it's like - is that my new favorite? I dunno.

I'm copping out entirely. I love them all? ;)

it's still cool to be playing the one that started it all.

Dragon Quest says sup.

I meant in terms of the Final Fantasy series. :-)

I'm not saying FFIV was the ugliest game ever played, but I prefer the graphical style used on the Dragon Quest remakes much, much more. It still retains the charm of the NES/SNES graphics.

Yeah, it just floors me to play Chrono Trigger on the DS, and though that game received no overhaul to the graphics, it still looks better than the 3D RPGs they try pushing out to everyone. Just because the DS is capable of 3d, doesn't mean they should keep trying to take advantage of it.

And I could tell within the first fifteen minutes of playing FF1 for PSP, that it had to be scaled down in difficulty. I know I may not be experiencing the "true" original, but it's cool nonetheless.

I just keep picturing in my head what FF6 would look like remade on the PSP, and then on the DS. Which, I'm pretty sure it will come out on the DS...if at all.

Hey there, I'm a new poster to the forums, though I've been checking them out for quite a while now - and I love the site.

That said, I just wanted to talk about the remakes of Final Fantasy. Not the direct ports to the PS1 or anything, but the ones they have actually taken the time to recreate graphically. That being the ones on the DS, and the ones on the PSP.

I recently got Final Fantasy I for PSP, and maybe surprisingly for an RPG fanatic, I've never played this game in any incarnation so far. So the PSP version is my first look at the original Final Fantasy, and I'm highly impressed. I will say, one of the major reasons I got this game was due to the graphic style of the game. I love it! The original sprites but with such a great amount of color and detail added, I am just hooked to the way it looks. Granted the storyline and gameplay is as basic as it comes for an RPG, it's still cool to be playing the one that started it all.

The comparison to the remakes on the PSP are of course III and IV on the DS. Am I the only one who thinks these games are...hideous? Maybe that's too strong of a word, but the Final Fantasy remakes on the DS look like third rate N64 games. The game was good, and the CGI was great, but why couldn't they have remade it in similiar fashion to the PSP remakes? The PSP versions are smooth, colorful, and still hold that oldschool charm in my opinion.

I'm hoping the inevitable will come, and they will remake Final Fantasy V and VI on one of the handheld systems. But which one would you guys like to see them remade on? I could compromise and see V coming on the DS, but I'd love to see VI remade on the PSP.

Ah well, just my take on some of the FF remakes. I am glad the old SNES games are being remade, but do they need to keep coming on the DS? Again, I think the PSP did well with their remakes, but they just aren't getting the Final Fantasy's that are usually regarded as some of the better titles.
