If you already have a PS3, get the PS3 version.  If you already have a Xbox, get the xbox version.  There is no need to switch consoles for one game.

if you have both,  i'd say get the xbox.  yes, it's 3 disks.  but it's 24X DVD-DL  vs. 2x BR-DVD.  the load time on the PS3 is just sucks.

The original point is though, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is an action-RPG. It has all the right elements, particularly the equipment and levelling structure which makes it so different from what came before it in the franchise.

Yes, I'll give you that.  but on the same note. because C-SotN is an "action-RPG".  God of war and all the rip off of GoW games also can be labeled the same.  and that's a long ass list of games. They are very similar.

And every post and article i read about this (thanks for the links)  says the same thing.  the classification of games in the industry is fucked up, and no one give a shit about it.

i think when it comes down to the point.  the classification of games is a bit random within the industry.

referencing Hidoshi's article,  everything borrows something from everything else.  games become mish-mash of good elements from other games so they can sell better. Case in point, "Darksiders".  it's very possible that one day this website may change it's name to GAMEfans.  just like in the future, all children will be a shade of beige.

until that day comes,  i'm just going to enjoy my thousand island dressing on my fries.

So, is god of war an action -RPG as well then?

then he might want to do actual research rather than waiting for more opinions to arrive

Well.....  Wikipedia says the game is 2D action-adventure game.  and on gamespot's and ebgames's websites, Most if not all castlevania games,  are listed in either action or fighting category.  not to mention that if you play as Belmont, All the RPG elements is gone.  before mark told me.  the term "castlevania" and the term "role playing games"  never connected.

so in one ear, Mark is telling me it's a RPG games, while steve screams in the other ear telling me otherwise.

So to prevent further arguments.  I'm doing a little research. (gathering data from the masses is a part of research).

and Parn,  if you don't like the post, you can just ignore it.  you really don't NEED to troll it.  nice to know you are making new member feel at home.

I'm going to check out Crystalis now.

thanks for the info.

I really can't picture Action-RPG as a game category.  that's like saying Ketchup-flavour Mayonnaise.

can you give me 5 games that falls under the same category of action-rpg as SotN?
