76  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Benchmark Results Thread on: February 21, 2013, 02:40:04 PM
How well did you guys do on the FFXIV: ARR benchmark? Check out our news story here, download the program, and post your scores here!

I managed 3813 on High. My computer is pretty powerful, but I'm sure others can do much better.

I'm playing on Normal Classic, which is already enough of a challenge for me. I could feasibly play on Hard, but I'd be subjecting myself to more stress than I think I need. Lunatic? Forget about it.

I'm buying you a drink when you beat it, Taelus. I mean that.

This week, I enjoyed the Ninokuni talk, and I'm kind of curious about it and might play it after I max out FF: Dimensions on my Note 2...

but I severely disliked hearing the phrase Diablo 3 again.  As for a game I absolutely enjoyed and gave like a 89%: Xenoblade was something I was hoping to not really hear in the p.c. because I'd rather avoid going back to stuff that was discussed a lot already.

I agree. I think it's time to move on. I don't think we plan to discuss them as often as we do, they just keep coming up. I appreciate the feedback!

That's some really sexy box art. I'm not really interested in playing KH1 again, but if it's Final Mix, I'll be a lot more excited.

No problems.  I try to look at both sides of every argument.  People went nuts when D3 didn't work at exactly 12:01 AM on launch day and that really pissed me off.  At the same time, some people still can't get the game to run properly with the internet connection, and that's just wrong.

Now let me tell you about my experience trying to get this special edition of Ni no Kuni....

Amen. I just got a shipping confirmation for my copy. Who knows when it'll arrive.

I bought a copy of the regular edition to tide me over in the meantime. Studio Ghibli's got my number, man.

I can't imagine how much time that took to figure out. Still, I found it absolutely fascinating. Thanks for sharing this!

I know that we can't stop talking about it because we're all gonna buy this game despite our complaining. :P

I'm buying it and I haven't complained. :P Well, I ragged on Lightning's new outfit, but you can change that so it's not a big deal.

So much skepticism! ;) I'm really excited for Ni no Kuni, to the point where I've ordered a copy to play while I wait for my Wizard's Edition to arrive. Aside from that, I'm most looking forward to:

- Tales of Xillia
- Etrian Odyssey IV
- Soul Hackers
- Lightning Returns (cautiously, of course)
- Ys Celceta (not in our feature, but I'm pretty damn sure it's coming here)
- Everything on our Hopefuls list

So basically, I want ALL THE THINGS. I try to keep a positive outlook on everything, and even if I'm let down by one of these games, I'm sure most of them will please me based on the media I've seen.

With our GotY awards out of the way, we took the opportunity to look forward to 2013 and highlight some of our most anticipated RPGs in this new feature. Which games are you looking forward to the most?
85  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Megami Tensei Topic on: January 14, 2013, 01:44:33 PM
I'm kind of on an anime kick right now, so I can't wait for the P3 movie and the Devil Survivor 2 TV series. <3

I'm also intrigued by the idea of a studio dedicated solely to Persona. I only hope they continue to innovate like they have been. P4 is brilliant, but I'm ready for something new!

I clicked on each category guessing Mass Effect 3 would inevitably win, and yes including best indie game.

Great. Thanks a lot for reminding me of 2012's VGAs. :argh:

At least the awards ceremony here was more dignified than that trophy conveyer belt (and its debatable to even call those things trophies let alone anything that has to do with video games). Though credit where credit's due, out of all the western developed, testosterone fueled, blatantly misogynistic, male gamers' power fantasies on display last year, it was nice to see The Walking Dead pull out the first worthwhile upset in recent memory in that particular venue.

Our staff lists go where a big organization like Spike TV wouldn't dare to tread, at least. Neal's list in particular is super indie, and I love that, because he's genuine.

I can bring swords to a gunfight in ME3. Can I do that in ToGF? (Disclaimer: I don't own the latter.)

Actually, you can! Well, technically, it's a double-edged sword that turns into guns. Uh. Yeah.

88  The Rest / General Discussions / RPGFan Games of the Year 2012 Discussion Thread on: January 08, 2013, 12:50:44 PM
Well, it's up. You probably knew that already. With 2012 behind us, we ask: what were your favorite RPGs last year? Do you have any strong feelings about the games that made our list (or maybe the ones that didn't)?

Discuss! :)
89  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: FFXIV 2.0 - Holy Shit!? on: January 07, 2013, 01:15:58 PM
I personally thought it was incredibly well-done. I'd rather have no dialogue than bad dialogue. The fact that we've already seen the "End of an Era" bit doesn't make it any less impressive. It probably would've had more of an impact if they had released it all at once, but either way, I'm satisfied. Super hyped for this.

Episode 54 is finally up!

Sorry for the wait on this one, guys. We tried to get together a couple of times throughout November/December and our conflicting schedules just didn't align. Hope you enjoy this episode!
