Thanks Annubis!

I like when this forum "highly recommends", I'm usually not let down by the good tastes.

I was pleasantly surprised -- for a goofball concept that sounds easy to make stupid, the humor was grand!
Dunno how much I like Emelia (or whatever) -- I hope she's not one of those chicks who is constantly angry the first half of the show then flustered the other half...

Our main hero turned "Japanese" very quickly compared to his demonic persona.

I never really got the popularity of that thumbs up/down thing, it seemed even worse than giving out review scores, as if any movie movie could be summed up one way or the other but never in between.
And it was pretty ironic that he claimed movies were often art for being emotional, and he never saw that in video games.

Depends on the game.  Likely when he saw it, it was still really kiddy looking, and yeah, he was old -- not exactly part of his demographic.  Perhaps something like Journey or whatever would have changed his mind.

But like I said earlier with the thumbs thing:
I like the "thumbs up/down" approach.  It's simple and based more on general entertainment than ever-lasting appeal.  Enough writers do the latter.
6079  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: MLP!!!!! on: April 05, 2013, 09:26:12 PM
MLP and Adventure Time are both pretty throwbackish to classic era Cartoon Cartoon/CN shows, so I get the appeal, although the brony fandom has like shit-all to do with the show itself at this point. Fandoms annoy me a lot in general :DDDD

Also WRT Adventure Time, from  my understanding, it picked up considerably from season 2 onwards, developing a more solid narrative arc and stepping away from the random-for-random's-sake comedy. I lack cable so I don't really watch it but I did catch an episode not too long ago when I was visiting my parents, and I found it pretty vastly better constructed than what I remember from the earlier episodes.

Bah.  Parks and Rec pulled the same thing.  First episode/season was garbage, so I stopped, picked up there after.

And yo...did you take down that horse picture??  I was trying to show it off earlier. and I couldn't find it.

Guys.  The new Hannibal TV series.  Man, it can give you the chills...!
Mads Mikkelson (from Casino Royale as the Bond-villain) pulls of a great Hannibal, while Hugh Dancy and Laurence Fishbourne all work wonderfully together.  It's creepy, gory, but filled with great detail.  Please give it a watch!

The Office is ruined, but just to keep up: breaking the 4th wall by having a real Documentary of the Mockumentary that's been happening in the show for 9 years is just.... kinda in bad taste, pure plot fodder for a show thats run out of ideas.  The staff of Dunder Mifflin are scared about having their lives exposed, and talk about their thoughts....in front of a camera man.  Moving on.

Seems like Red Data Girl is really aimed at girls.
The opening is tons of guys with colors and hugs.
The main girl is shy, weak and psychologically and physically harassed + they force a jerk next to her. (20$ she falls in love with the jerk eventually)

I don't think I can watch more of this...

B-but, it was designed to hit ALL the demographics!

Was it really...? =/

August 6th, apparently.

Which is sucky.  Why developers don't try to consciously release titles at the begining of summer (y'know, when their demographic is done with school) than the tail end or later is beyond me.

Also, while I'm not sure about the process of translating games -- this kinda sucks too because the voicework was completed way back in November.

Anyways, I like he gum drop analogy.

Little known secret.  I *hate* "Fail" pictures, I like "WINS" better. :D

The yearbook highfive is awesome.

I wonder what Emily looks like now ....

Probably boning Casey because he's a super awesome guy. D:
6084  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Thread -- Making people crazy since 1987, kupo! on: April 05, 2013, 01:35:22 PM
^ I liked that Advent Children and even the Final Fantasy Movie (Spirits Within) are one of few full-human CG efforts.

I love and hate that Pixar and Dreamworks or whoever are usually more in the "cartoon mode" (which works for them, but I'd love to see them try new styles in general).

Crisis Core was weird, and just made me want a revamped FF7 (walking around Midgar in awesom---... well, "PSP>PSX graphics" was pretty cool).

Good PR right thar.  I guess you expect a bit more decorum about something troubling future players.

HASHTAG# DEAL WITH IT!!

Ah well, he's got a meme already anyways.  It's alright.

I give him credit for fighting the good fight against cancer and really giving it all until the end.
6088  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: April 05, 2013, 01:34:43 AM
Why start a new one?

Haps: soaked in the tub and drank some mexican pop

Now I'm trying to find that perfect table for next to my couch

And that privilege to start new topic must only lie with Yoda!!!!  I believe in traditions!
Because of this stupid thread, if I have no better word for "what's going down" I say "HAPS". x(

I drank V8 Fusion to help my veggie intake.  Low sodium, tastes decent, 1.5 servings of veggies and fruit in drinkable form.... and no fibre.
...Goddamit.
I suppose it's better than Coke still... but coke tastes so good with pizza and burgers, it's hard to sub in water or anything for that.

Speaking of tradition.  Tomorrow is last day of class (exams aside) -- I'm getting near-naked and gaming all night.

It's good, but similarly, the hype machine may have skewed my perception or I just didn't see what it is.  I can see the fans, it's whack and has a great and simple premise, but I gave it a passing nod more than anything.  I like joke-comedy or physical comedy, and sometimes Adventure Time just dipped too much to screwball/goofy/random comedy that is more "whatever".  Some of the clips I"ve been sent or shown have been great though, but I doubt I'll sit with it anytime soon unless Netflix makes that decision easier for me. :P

I "get" the appeal for MLP...well, maybe not all the conventions, fanurt, and being a young adult male and bringing your pony plush to restaurants or photoshooping to be in a camera with you... but I get the appeal.  Same thing though, it gets boring (I had to do my research for 04/01 somehow) and it's clearly meant for a younger demographic (even with wise/clever pop-culture references and puns asside... like the secret "Dr. Who" pony --- Dr. Hooves).  It's colourful, magical, and fun and nothing really-really bad happens (I know a bunch of boys who watched Sailor Moon when they were young, probably for similar reasons).  It's just a nice show.

I was gonna say actually, March was an *awesome* video game announement month, so I really liked the idea of taking all the columns and making a monthly recap.  Good show!
