So I guess Square Enix wants to apologize to their fans for "trolling" :P

From ESRB.

Quick Chrono Question then.... do Magic Tabs even matter for Rob and Ayla?

Doing the sidequest onslaught and loving it.  Magus has "subbed in" for Chrono a bit.  He's got a gold stud-- nuff said.

Chrono Trigger -- finally fought the first hard boss; the dual golems at the sea palace.  Yikes.  Only because I cam prepared was why I won too. x_x
The Lost Santum is... interesting. Left early on.
Robo, Ayla, and Crono are mah bitches.

You people need to watch more movies!

Punch Drunk Love - I generally avoid anything with Adam Sandler in it, as his schtick got old a LONG time ago. I knew this was supposed to be different, though. Heck, "directed by Paul Thomas Anderson" will tell you that.
Such an odd movie this was. It's like the director said to his team, "Lets make the quirkiest rom-com ever!. No one will end up liking it, but who cares? It's quirky!"
So much goes on here that is never explained. Things the characters do and say. It makes it pretty much impossible to care about a single one of them.
I give Sandler a tiny bit of credit for trying something different, but that's as far as I will go.

Seen Magnolia?

Awful shit

I love movies, I love the stranger ones too... but yeah, some of the "film as art" types suck dick.  Magnolia was horrible.  I felt like it had a LOT going somewhere but failed fucken horribly with a lame... deus ex.. machina???  Whatever, it rained frogs and ended.

Punch Drunk Love was cute, but I didn't get.  A lot of emotions, you don't know why people are having 'em.

I remember liking Lost in Translation a lot.... but I hated the fact the best part (the infamous "whisper" at the end) was not even Sofia Coppola's idea, but an improvised scene by the actors... =/

If Japan taught us one thing, it's that love knows no boundary.

Lol, Japanese D Cups make me laugh.

If you add the W-RPGs things are even better:
Dark Souls
TES: Skyrim
Mass Effect 3
(And the recent releases of Deus Ex HR and Dead Island)

If we add Xenoblade and Skyward Sword for the Wii this list is simply paradise!

Please don't call Dark Souls a wrpg. It was developed in Japan by japanese.

Given it's success here and style, easy to mess that up.

FFX: Even though there's no kiss or they don't say "I love you" it's crystal clear Tidus and Yuna love each other.

Then what explains the scene in the Macalania Forest?

I can't believe I forgot it!!!
That's even better. That psichodelic scene is even better than a sex scene from witcher, dragon age or mass effect to show how much they love each other.

I'm pretty sure the psychedelic scene was a metaphor for them fucking in the lake all night long... guess there is a limit to what you can show.  I actually liked that scene for being up front, unlike (the issue here) where they beat around the bush and at the end of the game, holding hands is as revealing as standing naked before each other.

- why did people hate CCross so much?

1. Nostalgia goggles.
2. The game seriously runs at like 30 FPS which gets maddening as fuck.
3. None of the characters get a lot of development but usually when Square does character development they like, fuck it up. Remember that time Serge tells Kid to laugh in CC and then they make hideous seagull noises for the next hour? I sure as hell don't.

- Most games should have this many side quests

CT only has like 7 sidequests and they only open up at the end?

- Double/Trip Techs are too good most of the time.

Unless you're hitting weaknesses, double techs actually don't do a lot more than just casting their component spells separately.

Haha funny enough just realized that with robo.  A good single tech does some hella good damage, certainly comparable to a double.

And in terms of side quests, I mean more than that, I also mean the endings too.  I just kinda like how open the game feels.

Also playing FFVI, the Floating Continent sucks major ass, equipment is kinda crappy right now too, so I'm just grinding a bit till it's easier.

My DS is dying btw. =(
why the F hasn't it gone down in price with the 3DS out already?  Milk it, Nintendo, milk it!

As for CC, I don't know... I tend to take things more at face value, and I loved it.  Nostalgia goggles happily put aside.  I do think the game could have done without the giant-fucking-roster, but whatever.  I still thought it was a noble approach at a sequel to a game that fucked-up in the 4th Dimension.
The lack of any sign of a sequel almost makes no sense, but I guess the question comes as where to go from there.  Time, done; dimensions, done... hm.  That, and given Squeenix's inability to pump out good titles, maybe it's good they wait.

Chrono Trigger.  Weird I know.  It's portable fun.  The game is easier than I remembered it being.  Just don't run away, level grind a maximum of one level for the tough fights and I haven't died yet.

A few things:
- contrary to wow-splosion everyone gives this title, I actually don't like the music much.  Some songs are choice, but some just really are poop.
- why did people hate CCross so much?
- Double/Trip Techs are too good most of the time.
- Most games should have this many side quests.

Star: Sorry to hear.  All the best in this time, eh?  Sorry it's late (I've been sorta absent from here lately)

CDFN: if it hasn't already happen, I'm excited for you too!!  Don't screw them up, but I'm sure s/he will be the cutest thing on earth. :)

Me: Sick, and 90 pages to read.  Kleenex up the nose time!

Butz had a great name at least, and muthafucka could do anything he wanted [lulz]!.

Sera always disturbs me.  The mullet + side-ponytail has gotta go.  Her appearance is almost as unrealistic to real life as Lulu's "pregnant" belly in X-2.  I think I'm just more hating that I hate how Nomura designs hair for characters... Snow doesn't look bad, but his hair without the headband is like some Lion's mane, his hair can't go straight down like a normal persons, but up, and sideways, frayed-out, and spikey... It's just all over the place, and (like the running joke it) looks like it needs a full canteen of hair spray to make it work.

I do think Noel's face looks less pussy-ish though, but there's still something...off about it.  And good call on Laguna-looking-Noel.

I hate ranting, but I just hate the designs.  There's nothing very realistic about them, even if it is what they're going for, some are just too... out there and nothing shy of *very* flamboyant, it's all in excess and is so saturated.  I liked Lightning's gear till she stopped fitting in at all.  Everyone is sporting some neo-futuristic spandex, and Light stuck it out with... some medieval attire with a feather ass-cape.
6194  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Merged Final Fantasy XIII-2 Thread on: September 15, 2011, 07:50:55 PM
So Hope's grown into a young woman while Snow became Sabretooth. Got it.

I laughed. x)

Hope looks a little too pretty, and Snow just looks like an asshole.  I kinda liked his more rugged, grunge look (he even had the plaid going!).

I wonder if Snow and Sera got divorced... they sure don't seem like a couple.
6195  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: The Merged Final Fantasy XIII-2 Thread on: September 14, 2011, 11:33:54 PM
I hate ballad's.  My Hand's was alright, certainly better than the JPN theme song.

Aw, I was kinda hoping Serah would leave Snow for being a twat the entire first go-around and fuck around with Noel... I suppose that's to gritty and edgy and... well, immoral.

I promise to get FFX-2 if it scores in the 90's.  Not on Famitsu either.
