20 mnutes of Twilight Princess.... that got me nowhere.

I wanna pull out some older games soon.  I'm also really sad and mad that the PS360 Sonic the Hedgehog title sucked ass seeing as how much I loved Sonic Adventure 1/2.

Lots of games coming up, and the load of titles released late 2011 will be mine this summer...

...a promise for gaming? D:

Gonna play Uncharted fully finally.

I love how intuitive the use for the whip got by the end of the game... to pull a level right beside you! :D

6258  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: How do you invent items in Star Ocean 3? on: January 08, 2012, 10:38:49 PM
So are you supposed to just back out of inventing when the character makes a happy face while the quality bar is still high to synthesize a weapon from scratch

Basically.  If things go bad during inventing, sometimes they get worse from there if they keep mucking up.  Best to cut your losses, find better inventors, or get the item for each field of inventing that raises the % of creating and the items you can make.
6259  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Star Ocean 3 on: January 08, 2012, 11:01:37 AM
its fairly trivial to get to the last boss without ever synthesizing. i think you need a better grasp of the battle system. learn to chain/link your attacks/techs until enemy A dies.

And hope to god you can do so before they stunlock you to death. Fucking Moonbase.

Cancelling is absolutely god.  Do that, tie it with sidekick (which is quick and hella strong), and budda bing budda boom.

I realize Japan can't get away from anime, hell, even their TV talent's are ridiculously over-the-top, but I hate, HATE, that crazy jumping around shit like they weigh 2 lbs, and their sword weighs as much as a giant pencil.

I think it depends on the tone of the work, though you need at least some blood to give it any actual weight. Otherwise it seems more like they're trying to fight on the moon with nerf toys or something.

My beef is when the people look real (a la FF) but are still pulling 50 ft jumps or more.  It looks silly to me.

How did FF2 screw up so bad?

I admire your sentiments on FF9.  I like it, but that shit is ranking HIIIGH these days

I want to do this in real life. :|

You want to slap a beard on people? Please tell me that's the first objective on your resumes. ;)

No, but it SHOULD be!

*If Dice = Boss*

Advent Children was a fun enough watch, but as a follow up to FFVII it was an abomination. Let alone how ridiculous it was taking the necessary abstraction of RPG mechanics literally by allowing people to be shot in the face/cut up and still keep going without so much as a scuff.

It's fine if that's all you want out of it. Entertainment-wise, it's... silly and fun. But as a companion to FFVII, it's pretty awful in the way it plays around with canon, invalidates major plot points (re: Sephiroth), etc etc.

Also, shitty character resurrection.

Advent Children was a mistake.  Cloud looked like a pouty bitch and acted like one, speaking Tifa (who looks like a Squeenix J-Idol) wants to jump into his face, box first.  Bringing Seph back as a last minute showdown was stupid and i could not explain the logistics of how it happened even under fantasy sci-fi pretenses.  (and the fact the Turks are all alive and well, but I think that's the one thing we're all willing to let go)

Great pics from everyone, especially Box-head John.
D-Ride reminds me of Neil Gaiman. :D
And DPK I'm jealous of your eyes, and the fact you can pull a light hair colour. D:

Final Fantasy III,the DS one.

Awful game,I still find myself puzzled why they bothered to remake it.

What exactly was the problem with it?

Dungeons that parallel the Diablo series: there's no goin' back, lacking a way to save before a boss hammers your ass to the floor. D:

Additionally your rant only helps to affirm my theory that the average person cares only for the character either in light of or despite of the work's overall story or plot coherency.

You could argue Tales games have been saved by this a number of times.

V ranks among one of my favorites for having equipment matter more than in just strength.  And actually being hard and having more than decent bosses.  I beat so many bosses with one character left standing and with 1/10th of my HP left.

I would love to take on X for the Vita if it's got the International Dark Aeon bosses -- I wanna do a perfect run for that one, despite everything else in the game (it'd be nice to control someone other than Tidus as lead beacon... seriously, who runs like that?  Yuna gets this too, I love how Squeenix makes it's women's arms flail like there's nothing but air puffing around their brains).

On the other side of the coin, the fact that they're remaking 10 as FF6 is blueballed makes me the saddest gamer ever... D:
That game is amazing and warrants a remake more than most games that *have* been remade.

I wanna do a run against Ozma in 9 too.  I was too young the first time, and I hate the amount of grinding you gotta do in that game for the weapon skills.  Disc 1 sucks balls too with the # of Beatrix battles.

FF7 is great too, but still fine without a remake.  Bitchy fans can wait a bit and wait for the gas cloud to lift from the way Nomura put his "creative touch" into it and ruin follow-up titles by infusing them with Japanese-pretentiousness and pissy-teenage-acting-20+-year-olds...

Star Ocean 3 is what made me quit video games.

If SO3 made you quit video games SO4 would make you become the new Jack Thompson.

Tried to play a bit more, saw a cutscene with Welch, and this was my response.

Fucking awesome B movie.
