I loved her in Just Friends, one of few memorable aspects of that film.

Also, I like her better than http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrVoJgQ7u8w who I feel I need to bring up.

Jesus what a waste of time that was. They would have been better served to ride the hype and speculation train so they'd actually have a REAL reveal at E3. I mean, if the CEO and the physical console couldn't even make an appearance, what the hell does that give you? We got to stare at a controller we've all seen leaked shots of for weeks... yay. If they don't manage to nail a sweet spot on the price point, they're screwed. Durango is coming, as is the Steam Box and Apple will probably enter the home console market via Apple TV sooner rather than later, plus we have the Ouya too. The field is going to be super crowded and Sony doesn't have the brand loyalty it commanded with the PS and PS2 anymore. Let's see if they manage to flub yet another console launch... third times the charm.

Specs?  Features?  Controls?  Games?  Do these things mean nothing to you?  The thing I care about least is what the friggin box looks like...

I hope it's a floating spherical glass ball that makes a rave light show when you boot it up.  It then asks how you are and tells you that you're pretty.

Watching Airplane! again.  Awesome as always, but man, Julie Hagerty is wayyyy too skinny.  She's like bones with skin wrapped around them.

But she's so sweet.

I love that movie.  My boyfriend was skeptical, but got excited when he saw an NBA Legend pop in (he's a sports buff).

I don't know if it was just bad english but the one square guy said something that sounded like "i'm your sister's older brother" or some shit.

Dice back me up

I thought he said he was married to his sister.

You can tell he was more business than nerd though -- he failed his joke then quickly moved on instead of waiting for the tumbleweed.

I also loved the audience Blizz-tards clapping as soon as a rep came on -- I wonder how rock hard their nipples got.

They all had vague promises.

However, I do think the system itself has a lot of promise.... just maybe not for lower-priority developers/brands. =/
lol, I wonder what a NIS game will look like on the PS4. :P

"New FF display at E3.... Sayonara!"
That's brand power for ya...

I hate how much they say without actually saying anything.

"This system works well, it's interactive, and plays great -- you will love it!"... umok.

Can anyone else maybe see THe Last Guardian as part of the PS4 starting lineup?  Not shown here (hopefully E3).  I get this vibe, dunno why.

alright I GIVE UP!!! a need a hint or something guys.... I won't check a faq because I know the dangers of laying eyes on those all too well.... but the ghost kid's riddle in peridia (yea, I think I'm off on the town name, but you know where I mean...).... I swear I know the answer, but just don't know what the hell to type!!
Code:
He asks for the location of a symbol in the regions of the world section of the book that only appears once.... I found two possible answers, one on the world map and one of the map of summerlands:south (the # symbol for old smokey) but no matter what I type I can't get it right.... am I shooting blanks here!!!???? In other words, am I totally wrong in my answer and not my verbage? this is driving me whacky....

If I am right in my answer..... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHAT TO TYPE!!!!.... if I am wrong then just tell I am wrong... I'm not looking for a "hand-out" of the correct answer.... more or less, I just don't want to waste any more time trying to figure out exactly what to say  for the little casper kid to recognize my answer as correct if it in fact is....

5.

Edit: Or Old Smokey.  I might be confusing them.

How many people go through the same experience, of not realizing how very real and very serious mortality can be?

And then you do get that sudden realization and it's terrifying and hard to keep down, and you're staying up till four or five in the morning every night because you can't stand losing consciousness, especially not when it's dark out, and then everything makes you jumpy and you're sleep deprived to the point of being incoherent and inexplicably /cold/ all the time. And it goes on for months.

Or maybe that's just me.

I can relate to that. But you know what Quina says...

I'm absolutely adoring all this FF9 talk, I definitely do think it is one of the better FFs and really, for lack of better words, hit its stride.

Mesh:  I'm not the best for figuring out themes and nuances in games or other media, and I never really looked at FF9 as a dark game till you pointed it out and got me thinking about it.  What I was talking about with FF8 was when you went into several paragraphs of detail about the plot but also the infamous "icicle impaling" scene that goes completely forgotten.

Aeo:  I love the occasional long paragraph rants you do.  They're incredibly truthful and perfectly funny.  Keep posting here!

Taelus:  You actually said it best in the actual FF9 thread and you said something important to being a fan in general -- you love it despite its flaws.  Beautifully said!  And on topic of Game Journal --- fuck y'all, I like Golden Sun Dark Dawn!!  Haha.  There's a lot of shitty games I love actually.

6360  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: A Step Back: Final Fantasy IX on: February 20, 2013, 01:21:26 AM
As a thought exercise, I often like to compare Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX. Every time I come away thinking IX should be considered the best out of the three, but I always run into a problem with this: I just don't like playing FFIX. It is boring. I have always found it boring. As dated as the graphics are on VII and as contrived as the story in VIII, I have played through each multiple times, and I still have urges to play them every now and then (particularly VII within the past year). I just don't get it.
Could it be the more futuristic or modernized look of the games, perhaps? I've noticed that I have a greater appreciation for more olden looks myself, but some people just appreciate the look of average day society.

I think a "modernization" of the game could really help FF9.  It's got a LOT going for it, but the battles can be a real drag... a lot of PSX RPGs were though.  The fact that half of them take their sweet time to pan around the battle field before you fight really adds up.
I also hated the turn order of FF9.  Someone is low in HP, and you hope your heal spell kicks in before the enemy knocks them on their ass.  Then you use a Phoenix Down, but you can't heal them in time again because they only recovered 10 HP with the damned Phoenix feather.

I've sad it before, but I think Digi Devil Saga and FF10 handled this best (FF10 especially for showing the turn order and showing how "haste" actually works in your favor BEFORE you select the spell).  They were turn-based random battles, but they moved really quick.  DDS essentially had a fast forward button.
