I can't imagine how much the dog is going to contribute to skits. Aside from some ass-sniff joke or something. Anyways... Hi-ougi's look hawt Secret missions should be a fun challenge Attachments (the customizable, stats-upgrade-less stuff you can throw on characters) make you realise how much practise NamcoBandai got in rendering 3D things when making just about everything for the Katamari Damacy games. Battle Linking will make things hard and interesting (if no a future reason I end up cussing at my TV screen) And yay for voiced skits and opening this time!

Demo's are usually incomplete, Parn. =3 But I'm glad you took it for what it is. (free!) =D I take the demo as a preview, the demo is clearly missing a few crucial things the current Tales games have, and its unlikely this team of developers would intentionally take a step back.

My bias will kick in: I find most Tales battles arn't really fun to start with, but rather generic until you get second tier skills (that actually rack up damage), and get skills and learn everything (in Abyss; AD skills were god)
I for one, look forward to this. And, as Dalucifer0 says; these games haven't disappointed me thus far. =)

Lets see how it does. New Squeenix titles tend to be a hit or a miss. Isn't that the same for every title? Sort of. My concerns vary company to company. Capcom, for example, I become increasingly worried with each new installment to all 10 franchises they have (milked till its beyond commercially viable)

Lets see how it does. New Squeenix titles tend to be a hit (TWEWY) or a miss (Drag-on Dragoon).

When it comes to Star Ocean 3, regardless of whether you loved or loathed it, Farleen's voice could make any reasonable person want to stab out their ears. Right? Right? Come on, I can't be the only one with an aversion to helium voices. What bugs me most about that, is that she was a conscious decision.

Hopefully they won't continue a trend for the trend's sake.
Most people are vying for an original story when it comes to the Tales' animations. Eternia did do it right. Learn.
Otherwise, yay! Animation version. With probably a new, pretty, ambient opening.
I'd like to see it, since (like Symphonia and the 2D Phantasia), in-game action sequences are pretty bland.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Solid Script...
|

a bad script (amnesiac hero chosen to save world) will always be bad, regardless of language or translation Storyline and writing quality are not the same thing. As much as I hate to say, I do think (if used properly) the amnesiac hero/heroine can be effective. A game character is kind of harder to sympathize with if they have a " they knew all along" attitude that they're the secret...to... fucken... destroying the world, or whatever plot-twist the game has. Adding that sense of surprise works better for player and character.

The major think I didn't like about the plot-twist was how it fucks the series over for future sequels. I heard that SO3 was to serve as the last one (don't quote me for accuracy on that though), so I guess its prequels from here.
The plot twist itself, to me, wasn't horrible... rather executed completely and horribly wrong. The concept was fine, but the ending was on par with garbage. Instead of some good, sci-fi-ish explanation for why everything happened, they resorted to one of those JRPG "power of heart/friendship/mind" saves the day". GAY.
