6601  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The NEW Game Journal on: February 06, 2013, 10:13:26 AM
Finished the Walking Dead.
That is one unhappy game.

Nier left me like " D: " for like 80% of story segments.  Maybe next time I'm feeling sad I'll have a proper fix.

Played about 2 hours of Dead Space 3.
Took me a minute to get used to the "clunky" style of DS games again. Once I did, I was fine.
The game looks and sounds fantastic, of course.
The area I'm in is quite reminiscent of earlier DS environments, but that's not really a bad thing. It makes sense as part of the story.
More later.

You kept saying DS and I was like "say whaa?".  But then I realised DS and Dead Space and yeah.
Really wanna give the series a shot with all the good word.

I've shelved Ni no Kuni for Fire Emblem for the next while.  FE is just better is so many ways.  Needless to say NNK kinda was kinda disappointing to me.  It's a really good game bogged down by a ton of little flaws.

Got drunk last night and had a dream we had an RPGfan party at a local hotel.

I was there for 10 min to shake hands before I got called back to work where one of my patients was my friend's sister who I had a major crush on in HS.

I hate when I had one of my brother's buddy that I had a crush one and I still *couldn't* close.

I don't like this gameplay footage. If this is the kind of game where you can just crouch all the time and not be detected ... meh.

Environments look great though. And that sound is ca-reepy

Brr.... hopefully not too many segments like that.  I'm pretty sure I dreamt that in a nightmare once. D:

Damn saving everyone on chapter 5 with permadeaths and on hard mode has literally been hours of losing for me... I beat it with only losing 1 character this time and I think I'm going to keep it. Wasn't really going to use the character anyway.

Wish some many peeps, I get worried about who I'm not using. D:
I think I shelved Sully based on appearance.  Lissa too (even though the look of her BFFF isn't much better).
For whatever reason, Frederick can't gain a level if his life depended on him, but he's a goddamn tank, usually killing things in one hit.  I don't get it.

Aeo:  Thanks for the tip on the soft reset.  Given my 20+ years of gaming experience, I don't know why I didn't try that first.... hm.

I'm surprised, I thought it was doing well.  I know a lot of (youth's?) cartoons don't really run a long time, but I thought this was different.  Any reason?  The way the schedule for the 2nd season was pretty messy but I doubt that's the whole thing.
6606  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fire Emblem 3DS on: February 04, 2013, 10:21:23 PM
There are advantages to living in NYC. I was able to get the bundle at Nintendo World after work today. I've made it to Chapter 2. It's been a while since I played an FE game. I was just going at it without a care when all of a sudden Lissa died. I was kind of okay with that since I don't like her already. I'm glad to get back into an FE game though.

Her pig tails piss me off.  And her dress net that doesn't get quite covered...bleh, rot!
As much as I like Yusuke Kozaki, the way he draws faces is kinda copy+pastey. =/

Otherwise I'm happy to say my first FE experience is overwhelmingly positive!  This game is addictive!  I'm glad whether or not characters can be perma-death'd is an option, already had a character 1-hit KO'd due to a critical hit (I think someone already mentioned there isn't really a good "reset" system in place either).

*Technically* not. :D

^ thank you for these~

Shin Sekai no Yori -- I love that this series time skips.  Recent episode has a man with *two irises* per eye. ... I'll let you think about that one (answer: yes, he does come in to kick ass).  This series is dark and pretty depressing, I'm convinced the pretty and giant eyed characters are meant to "fluff" it up a bit.

Kotoura - It's 4 for 4 on good episodes, but I'd regard the latest as the weakest; the bit with the grandpa (while I'm glad he's still a really active part in her life) was grossly unnecessary.

Amnesia - The revelation for Red wasn't too interesting, turns out the more critical "I killed a man" was a small fuck up... a shame because the mistake was more interesting, if harder to deal with.  I like their convenient method for "switching boys".  We're onto "Blue" next I guess (the only guy's name I got memorized is Toma's... he looks the least full of himself, so woo, I root for him! But if the OP/ED have anything to determine the "order" of pairings, I think he might be last D:  )

I never realized the amount of quick 5 min episodes (last i watched was...DiGi Character...like ten years ago almost).  Do they just air between things?

Try not to blame your local Gamestop for shitty haps.  We got an email from head office told to release the game on Tuesday.... February 4th... x(

It's all for dicks now anyway, she leaves in the morning. I would have been king douche if I said anything before she left, you're right yodes. I think my best bet is to just wait for her to come back. Gives me time to clean up my act if you would.

Speaking of acts, been back at the gym since my ailment has run its course. Busting my ass harder than ever, more exercises, more weight, less rest between, more cardio (biking 4 before and after my workouts)...next obstacle is changing my diet. Having been a fatass most of my life, that's gonna be hard.

I really hope you and her work out somewhere down the line -- the inner girlie in me always finds it sweet when a fella is crushin'.

I'm getting better too! Yay!!  Love being sick all weekend. =/
Time to study for a midterm in two days! T_T  Can it be done?

Honestly, BK2 was an almost perfect attempt at an unusual non-standard battle system.  Hell, I'd take a BK3 if it was possible....  I also hate saying BK because I think about Burger King.

Either way, love the treefaces.

I have *unbelievable* timing when I leave the microwave and come back to it within 5 seconds of it finishing...I think it's magic.

Something about fantasy makes me all happy inside
I think that childhood dream of shooting fireballs from my hands is something that just won't die.

Yeah, Dice. You're an alien species with incomprehensible emotions. Tell us.
Can it!

^ lol.

Dice, you're a girl (most of the time)
*sigh*.... >=(

I don't know how to approach this. I can KIND OF speak to her in casual conversation, as I asked her about her leaving to join the military, and the three of us (her, me, and my sister) were all bullshitting in general, but I can't say anything that matters to her, such as "I like you" or "You're beautiful" or even something as silly as "What kind of movies do you like?". I'm trying to be intelligent about why I can't just ask her out or something, but it defaults to a simple reason. Not shyness or self esteem...entirely. Hell even rejection isn't that horrifying.
Bullshitting is great, keep up with that, I'm sure a lot of relationships have started through just goofing around.  Saying "I like you" and "your beautiful" though??  No.  No, no, them words are off-limits until you know for FACT there is a spark.  Saying that otherwise can send her for the hills or worse, make it too easy for her and she's out, she knows she has you hook, line, and sinker.  Rejection happens, it's a fact.  I've been rejected plenty.  It happens, it hurts, you get up and -gracefully- move on.

What if she says yes to a date and I screw it up, or we just don't click, or something equally horrible? I can deal with being shut down, anger and rage are sort of bedfellows in my life. But embarassment, incompetence, worst of all the thought of blowing my only shot with her...it is making me feel queezy just typing it here. I know if I said hey, lets go see a movie when you come back, she'd say sure. But I desperately don't want it to fail, enough so that I'll let this feeling of desire linger til I'm more confident with myself and what I can offer as a guy.

Nothing will stop you more than being shy/timid/nervous etc.  If there's a click, first date awkwardness won't even be a thang, likely she'd have it too, then you look passed it because you still had an "ok" time and wait for the second date where you're both that much less nervous but both agreed for a second date.
Boyfriend and I had a really awkward first date, barely said anything at all (seeing a movie together helped, you don't have to talk much aside from goofy commentary during it.  Four years later, we're best buds, and talk about any/everything.

Also to, keep in mind it is your sister's BFFF.  This might be awkward for your sister, not just for you.  What's it like for your sister to welcome her friend into the house only for her to be seeing you instead?  You gotta approach this gently, a day at a time, but remember -- if it was meant to happen, it will.
