Innocence R wasn't good. From the looks of things Hearts R won't be that great either.

I'm not terribly concerned with just HOW good it is, I just want there to be a big enough demand for the series that it just releases the games as they come out in Japan. Plus, I know I'll enjoy it no matter what. I'm a sucker for those games. :)

If Innocence R was any indicator,  releasing the "R" series may damage the brand name...

I'd love to dedicate myself to a few Shonen's.... but they seem to run a fucking minimum of 30 volumes (or 300 episodes).

I was disappointed with Farty Tale as well.  I loved Rave Master, but then his style switched both graphically and almost conceptually to be a hollow and unambiguous copy of One Piece, and yeah, lacks the same "heart" and honesty of One Piece while it's at it.  There was a great idea, but it just kinda faltered and fell flat.

Watching some of the new tings this Winter.

Tamako Market: The new KyoAni animation with an *original* story (which is almost as big a deal to brag about like when Hollywood does the same these days).  The animation and vibe looks and sounds like it'd suit a Kirby anime better than.... well, the Kirby anime that came out some years back.  The animation is flawless, but in typical KyoAni style, has a lead who's simply cute for the sake of being too cute (where things hurt twice as much as she covers her head and tears up a bit, or when she takes a bite of something and her face can't help but turn all cutesy).  I'm mixed.  A cute slice of life concept made a bit silly with the presence of a talking bird that feels almost as out of place as The Great Gazoo from Flintstones.  I'll follow it for a bit, there are lots of T&A animes right now, and I want something simple and nice right now...

...the main girl wears glasses but wears contacts... I wish I could see her putting in "anime contacts"...what shape would they be??????

Amnesia: an anime based on an imoto PSP[?] graphic novel.  The animation is stunning and the visual style unique even for a shoujo title.  Naturally, our leading lady has several handsome suitors wearing bizarre outfits and following a playing card theme.  The story seems interesting enough because they frame it around our lead heroine's -- OMG PLOT TWIST -- amnesia!  She seems lovely enough, but she spends the first episode talking at a slow pace, speaking at a level just above a whisper, and making bad decisions ("I shouldn't tell people I have amnesia even though I don't know where I live...or how to do my job... and I shouldn't go to the hospital because I passed out at work")

I bought two bags of doritos. One cheesy and one ranchy. I like mix them together in a bowl and eating them in the dark. You never know what you'll get.

Americans.... tsk tsk.

I ate apples and Yoghurt. :D

Don't act all high and mighty. I know how you eat and the things you like.

I ate a ton of pasta earlier... so I'll give ya that. xP

Drawing like crazy.  I CAN'T STOP.  YAAAAY.

On a sad note, I think me olde wii is dying.  It had trouble playing Brawl today when my bro was over.  I know that Brawl is a more "intense" game for the system to run, but it still can't be good...  I gotta start looking for another, there's a few Gamecube games I can't be denied to play (I've been playing LoZ:TP and Baten Kaitos II). D:

Amazing what happens when other peeps get in the way of a photo.

I giggled at first because the Editor's list was a pure sausage fest.  Tee hee.

I didn't play enough 2012 RPGs to make a list.

I clicked on each category guessing Mass Effect 3 would inevitably win, and yes including best indie game.

I voted for it in the strategy RPG category, but no one would go for it. :-(

I was wondering about that.  I double-triple checked when I didn't see your name!
Haha, too much Mass effect 3?  I think that'd count for something all the same. :P

Trending right now.  Gender swaps are nice sometimes.

Good list, pretty good year.  Meh, so long as there's a few good games every year, I'm a happy gamer -- RPGs or not.

I'll play this if the battles aren't slow as molasses. I hated that you couldn't fast forward through battle text in Pokemon Pearl and Diamond.

That's been fixed since Platinum. Battles are very fast in Black & White.

Not enough for a pretty grind-heavy game.

When I think of perfect speed + grind I think of FFX or DDS

I like Fennekin the most (cute pun), but I can already see, being the most badass looking, everyone's gonna pick him.  I like the Grass type one, Chisnut or Chesnip or whatever.

Pokemon X & Y (with I guess "Z" later on)

Normally, I don't care about the series.  But I don't deny the love I had for it as a kid, and the fact that I love its concept.  But, I'm making a topic because the series is finally growing up a bit -- Pokemon XY is a FULL 3D game (that's right! No more four-directional walking!!!!!!!!!)

I'm curious.  The starters look pretty cool, and it's a worldwide release in October, 2013 (with maybe a delay announcement though haha).  I know we're all not crazy about the series -- but we've made topics for far more niche series'.
6732  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Recently watched Episodes of TELEVISION BOX offerings! on: January 08, 2013, 12:13:48 AM
Family Guy - I tuned in and watched with my folks (they love watching the fox animation block).  The episode started pretty strong, parodying the Monty Python opening with Family Guy characters (fuck, I nearly forgot how trippy and weird it was) and using an actual clip ("...Its!!").  It also does a few jabs at current TV.  It makes fun of the poor art of Bob's Burgers, and also has a TV hypnotize Peter into thinking Breaking Bad is the best thing on TV.  Normally I'd have no beef, but lately I've enjoyed those shows more than Family Guy...soooo uhh.... that leaves those jokes to kinda fall flat.  The rest of the episode took place in space -- unfortunately something The Simpsons did better  15 years ago.  There was also a really stupid joke about Chinese and Japanese which was seriously no better than when Disney made its anti-Japanese wartime propaganda film (there was probably a bunch of ways to do a joke like that, they chose the simplest and tasteless, worse yet, it doesn't feel like it's even trying to make a joke... I've come to hate FG humour for this; that and a lot of their 'spoof' parodies amounting similarly to "non-jokes", but just ridiculousness for cheap laughs as a metaphoric "applause" sign flickers).  A few good moments, like any Family Guy ep., but I've taken a bit more of a shine to American Dad these days.  Nevertheless, curious about the live-action stuff Seth Macfarlane has on the boiler.

Bob's Burgers - A good episode that took the parent and kid who have the least amount of chemistry to match them up.  While it didn't really work, the antics were still great.  I've come to notice this show isn't the *best* for big laughs, but the humour works, and unlike Family Guy, features a family that actually does love one another and tend to work better all the more for it.  I love the puns too.  Piss on all the people who think puns are lame, a good one is awesome!!

Elementary - Glad to see it's back on!!  I can't say I'm crazy about Watson playing "second fiddle" so well (previous iterations have Watson/Sherlock dialogue to be much more give & take, even if Sherlock is doing more work).  Nevertheless, the show does a great job dealing with original cases and material keeping the mysteries fresh and interesting (using a bit more logic than CSI's "magic forensics" to solve cases).  Having a *special gues star* can sometimes take away from the magic of solving a crime, but good to see the lead ups to it.
6733  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Adobe Makes Photoshop CS2 Free on: January 07, 2013, 04:39:23 PM
Wow, that's pretty ok.  It may not be any CS4, but hey, free is still fuckin' free and great.  It's not the CS# that matters, it's how you use it! ;)

Sorry it's late, but thanks a bunch so far for the selections here. :)
Some are my taste, some not so much, but I love the variety you guys are all providing. :D
6735  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The NEW Game Journal on: January 06, 2013, 11:06:57 PM
Also, I never once said I hated the dungeons or the bosses of TP (except for the first one since that was a very basic forest temple dungeon and nothing really thrilling to write home about). I just wish the rest of the game didn't fall so short on the other fronts (dat Dominion Rod would've been awesome if there was any reason to use it outside of its dungeon beyond opening the occasional doorway; Gale Boomerang was OP'd and either needed a later upgrade to make it into it or make the bow more than slightly better at the range department compared to it, even with bomb arrows; teh Spinner wtf; wolf form moar liek puppy form; Light Sword, I can't tell if its doing more damage to anything other than those sudo wizrobe enemies from the dungeon you get it in).

Yea, that was another aspect that I didn't like. All the new items that were ridiculously cool (like the ball and chain) were pretty much useless outside of their respective dungeons.

Well, finished OoT. I have a desire to play Majora's Mask, but that game is a major commitment that I don't think I'm willing to make right at this moment. I guess I'll get back to Xenoblade Chronicles. Maybe I can get it finished before Sly 4 and the new Fire Emblem game are out in February.

I hate that argument about the tools.  People say Zelda games are linear, so when they let you pick the last three in whatever order you wanted (Snowpeak, Temple of Time, and the City in the Sky), so it would be hard to apply those tools in another dungeon if you don't have the tool from another one (there's always side content and the final 2 [small] dungeons to use them in.

Dincrest pretty much hit the nail on the hammer.  At least for most things.  There's a lot of games or song I feel less than warm about at first, but are then the ones I grow to love more than the songs that I adore by the first time I listen to it.  FF9 was certainly one I didn't appreciate right away, took over a full 10 years before I gave it a serious go.  I didn't think much of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs either, but now I watch it *at least* once a year.
