I still have no idea what's going on in the series, but who cares I guess.

Blame the consistency of the translations that Capcom has maintained over the years with the series.

I doubt that's as much as an issue as bad storytelling.

I thought Ada's final chapter was hilarious.  Probably not intended.  I guess what was left to do though?  She had to explain to chopper and all that.

It is shit story telling.
Quote
- Carla:  Simmons doesn't love me even though he has the face of a police profile sketch of a rapist!
- Simmons: Ada's got a sweet candy apple ass.  She does missions for me [?]
- Ada: Naw Simmons, this ass too good fo' yo' ass
- Simmons: DAAAAMN YOOOOU ADDAAA
- *plans scheme to make world into Zombie cacoons that transform people into other people making heinous abominations that, of course, you fight off*
- Ada: Fucken Simmons...

- Simmons: ooohhh Caaarlaaa~
- Carla: M'yes Simmons?! <3
- Simmons: Inject this needle into yourself
- Carla: Anything for you Simmons!!
- *Japan-magic transforms Carla into Ada-II through elaborate "coccoon-based" sciences*
- Carla/Ada: I am Ada!  I'm gunna do missions like the real me does!
- *shit happens, then big reveal*
- "Ada": Say what?!?!  I'm not real Ada?  Well fuck the world!  I'm gonna drop zombie goo everywhere.

---story here---
- Leon: Ada?  ...H-Helena!!!  But...Ada!  Mmm Ada.....Ada...ada....adadadadadadadadablahblahblah SIMMONS! Ada...
- Helena: *sexy groans* Sister!!! *sadness*  Simmons *grr*
- Chris: Such a dark fucking period of my life!
- Piers: God Chris has a nice ass....
- Jake: [mommy/daddy issues aside, demands money for pint of blood, but will settle on touching Sherry's parts]
- Sherry: "Can't heal fast enough" to deal with in-game deaths
- Ada: Well wait, I'm Ada.  What kind of bullshit?  Eugh, nevermind *cleans shit up*
* Ada kills Simmons with Leon's help, and takes of Carla's mutaded face by shooting bullets at her fungus then freezing it[?]; comes on top of love triangle by killing off the other two players, leaves Leon hanging for another title and to wait till their golden years before possible hug scene*

RESIDENT EVIL 7: Where Jake learns from Chris Redfield's example by helping a Middle-Eastern boy-girl fist-off another zombie invasion... because nukes ain't a thang....ZOMBIES....ZOMBIES.  And Ada reveals she's actually gay so any of this AdaxSimmonsxLeon business is retconned.

Playing Radiant Historia on train.  Battery nearly dead.  Trying to make the game hard by purposely running through without switching till mandatory.

On hour 6 of train ride home from Montreal (to Toronto).  I hate that part of train/plane ride where everything aches and all of your "toys" that you bring to keep you company have either warn out their stay (book) or are losing batteries (this lap top).

Trip was fantastic though. :D
Hungry as fuck, though....  McDonalds will have my busines tonight (being the only thing probably open at 11 on a Sunday night).

Omg guys, RPGfan has its winter theme on.

Christmas confirmed 2012.

Quoting this for happiness.  This is my favorite time of year. :)

Pro-tip for looking suave as a dude: don't buy American Eagle.  Best thing I ever did was drop that brand like a bad habit.

You can buy shit from anywhere so long as you can make it work.

But nevertheless, Parn, looking pretty swanky!

Yodes: The guy that looks like your friend kinda looks like you.  I always smile when I see groups of buds at school hanging out together who also look a lot alike.

Body parts you didn't know you have.  This was quite the revelation for me.  It explains a lot!

Folded and bought Pokemon Black Version 2. I have no intention on making this game easy for me, so I'm going to pick 2-4 pokemon and use em as my team. The 3rd/4th is going to be my HM slave--which will be adjusted to fit my HM needs. Time for fun.

That's usually how I played... mainly because I found "raising them" or whatever to be a pain.  Find one I like the look of, and stay true to it the entire game.
6726  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, The Last 13 Days on: December 06, 2012, 02:35:23 PM
I'm still scratching my head as to why they insist on pushing more and more games in this world, given that direct sequels in FF seemed to have always done worse than the original, and FFXIII had a relatively mixed reception. Was this the plan all along or something?

I doubt it. XIII-2 begins with a huge retcon of the ending of XIII.

The music and gameplay of 13-2 were pretty damn good if it means anything.... unfortunately the rest was shit (mainly plot).

It also sucked that the instructional menu item you get after beating that semi boss takes almost 15 minutes to read through, coupled with the 5-6 minutes of boss fight if you're unfamiliar with the game ( everyone probably was), leaving you with 4-5 minutes to actually go through the demo. Most people don't like to replay demos, so if you're not into it yet, 5 minutes of actual play in the demo sours the experience quickly.

I just thought it was weird that they didn't give you the instructional menu until *after* the battle.

I would have liked one normal battle before being thrust into a boss fight in the forest chapter (I died at the boss, I didn't realize Oliver was linked to the monster's HP...yeah).  But the game was pretty easy to figure out otherwise.  I'm one of the worst gamers these days, I'll leave the game running and watch a TV show or movie (usually doing both at the same time), or reading an email or looking at the net and I still had time to beat the demo.

If you're banking on the strength of the story and the characters in a Level 5 game to make up for middling gameplay then you're making a sucker's bet. Honestly, I'll be genuinely surprised if this game doesn't feel like it was written by a 12-year old who's mother abandonment issues and lack of any sort of sex education dominate the choices used to fill out his disjointed narrative cobbled together from a mad-lib of random plot points.

Why you always gotta be so negative?

Yeaah.  Dunno when Level 5 had a game with excellent characters...

Anyways:

+ Pretty good battle system, simple, but to the point
+ That score!!!  Auuugh, great music~!
+ Background graphics
+ World Map graphics
+ Though they really only mentioned it for a minute of gameplay, I did like using magics to help that miserable guard or whatever.  I smell some good sidequest potential
+ I miss high-fantasy games. D:  So yay!  May get it just on that

+/- The mascot.  I dunno if I find his cockney accent and design to be darling or annoying.

- Character models are "meh".  Higher poly or just... I dunno, they're really simple looking, look odd amongst the scenery which is near flawless.  A bit more detail would have been swell anyways.  I realize even Ghibli designs aren't too expansive, but if there was any time it wouldn't have hurt it'd have been on a videogame
- Boss "super attacks" don't stand out too well, but even when I do...
- ...the battle controls are kind of sticky.  Dunno how crazy I am about running with the control stick then selecting options with the d-pad... (being an active-time battle system, I suspect running, stopping, and picking is a good suggestion).
- Story line is...?  It sounds sweet enough (the bit with the dead mum), so I'm curious how involving the plot will be otherwise.  But between Ghib/Lvl5?  I expect creativity if nothing else.

I actually heard it can get quite difficult too.

EDIT: *trying* to download now... why does new PSN store suck major garbage?  Why did it have to get a facelift anyways?  I liked the old one better.
I sound like an old woman.

What good editing can do to Star Trek TNG.
A surprisingly funny uneventful day aboard the USS Enterprise!

the latest BATSY:
So I got the bluray and popped it in. And immediately I'm annoyed because this asshole Bane's voice is mixed to be 1000x louder than everything else. Why the fuck do they do shit like this? I have to turn the volume WAY down because he's too fucking loud.

Get fucked

I noticed that in theaters too.  I thought it was to compensate for the ...somewhat hard-to-understand accent[?] thing.  But it just makes it stand out in a bad way...  Kinda like in old movies where they'd dub over the musical number but the quality is clearly different.
6734  Media / General Games / Re: Resident Evil 6 on: December 05, 2012, 12:43:07 AM
Agreed.  :O

YAaaaay!  My long await for Res6 was NOT in vain! I like it lots! :D
6735  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Going back and reading old reviews, some great quotes on: December 04, 2012, 04:09:46 PM
Which reminds me... what the fuck is Tri-Ace even up to these days?? :S

This.

And possibly another one of these.

Haha, the hell were the chances of that announcement popping up?

I sometimes look back at my old reviews and wonder, "What was I thinking?"  Of course, each review is an honest reflection of how I felt about that particular game at the time, so it does capture a legit moment.  It's like with music.  Some albums I wasn't really into when I first heard them, but listening to them weeks, months, even years later I think, "Wow!  This is brilliant!"  The opposite holds true too; there are some albums I loved immediately but don't listen to so much any more.

Curious, which reviews had that effect?
