6826  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: November 19, 2011, 09:24:00 PM
The backyard show my band was slated to headline tonight got shut down early by the cops, so we were among 3 or so bands who didn't get to play.  These things happen and it's happened to us before, but it still bums me out all the same.

...and that's the haps.

D:

I'm sorry.  Never a good feeling.  Cancelled creativity....

I spent the first hour at work calling people about their Skyward Sword preorders... fucking hell, why do so many people sound sucked of any life force.  And why do so many sound like they're monkeys who just got on the phone after scratching and eating the crud off a monkeys back?
6827  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ninokuni (Ghibli + Level 5 RPG) going PS3 on: November 19, 2011, 08:59:59 PM
This game still doesn't interest me, but I might snag it if the reviews are good.

I dunno... there's something lame about giving orders to a monster half a child's size to fight for me... and cruel. :P
But hey, a Level-5 RPG has been missing for a long time.

If anything the visuals will melt your eyes.

They're really not, though.  Anyone else find it lame our main hero is a typically dressed brow-haired boy with red and blue clothing?  I know that Japanese tend to be overly flamboyant, but the kid is boring looking.

The visuals are okay.  I think the backgrounds are outdoing anything in terms of character models... even moreso than that cat king or whatever the heck...  The backgrounds, like I said, is absolutely amazing stuff (I just wanted to emphasize).

I find Ghibli overrated, and I have some faith in Level-5.... BUT, I do have faith in this to be a good game despite my shit talking.

Just as well, because he's European. Even if you were insane enough to fly over there JUST FOR ZELDA it'd come out in the US by the time you landed anyway.

Most game stores probably got it on Friday when it was released in the UK.  If you find a private game store, they'd more than likely break street date. And voila!  Trip to Europe saved (or still in but you go to tour! :D )
6829  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Neptunia on: November 19, 2011, 08:56:13 PM
Given what I've seen and heard of this game, I'd rather play FFXIII.

I've played both; 13 is worse. At least Neptunia's dialog and characters aren't 'quite' as annoying and the game presents more of a challenge, not to mention at least Neptunia doesn't pretend that it's story means anything. 13 only beats it in the graphics department in both quality and dungeon design.

I agree with this in the fact the FF13 cast is never happy except in a rare cutscene where the point is for them let a smile out.

Atelier Rorona, and Atelier Totori say hello.

Considering human tendencies I might actually have to call you a 'liar' on this one Dice. XD There's no way possible you can convince me you have neither picked up a discount DVD or game in your entire life that you either have a guilty pleasure for or were curious about it; despite it not being a Blockbuster/AAA title.
Depends.  Guilty pleasures are arbitrary, and yeah I'm talking about a game I love, not what other people think is a 3/10 or a 9/10, it's what *I* think is a 10/10.  I don't keep nor do I enjoy playing crappy games.  Guilty pleasure movies are another thing, but the movies I have are my gold.  The mentality of spending countless hours on a game that sucks, something I've seen quite a bit (maybe not sucks, but certainly "meh" against), is a waste of short life -- there's plenty more to do and play.

If a discount game sucks, then I'm happy I paid little, and still try to get rid of it.  Good games I'll never give. :D

The review on the site is mixed.

Is the general consensus that it's worth picking up for $30 or not picking up at all?

I refuse on counts I didn't want to waste time and money on something I'd only "like a bit".  I don't know how your barometer works.

I beat Tales of Eternia on PSP!  The ending was so simple it sucked balls.  Also, and speaking it came AFTER Destiny, has the more bland set of characters ever.  But makes up for it with some of the prettiest PSX backgrounds you'll ever see.
6832  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Neptunia on: November 19, 2011, 11:08:37 AM
I'll never understand the reasoning for wanting and sitting through (a many-houred RPG no less) a "sub-par" game.
My games have GOTTA rank higher... =/

I don't want the game because the cutscenes looked absolutely inane and stupid and recycled.

Big surprise.  Twilight Princess' beginning was pretty dragged out; funny enough for a simple enough game.

One of the local game stores is selling it before street date.  I wanted to snag it despite my preorder, steal some assholes copy and say I had a preorder.  MWAHAHAHAHA

But alas, I could get some work done for a project and decided against it.  SIIGH. =)

Except isn't one of the points of Zelda (and Nintendo games in general) is that it doesn't require you to play it on a computer keyboard.

I'm starting to think you've lost your mind given how completely irrelevant that is.

Euses gained my love.

Sorry Aeo, I'll just chalk it up to you were tired when you posted that.

So apparently this is getting a reprint and will retail for $30.

http://www.siliconera.com/2011/11/18/hyperdimension-neptunia-reprinted-game-alone-is-30/

The ebay-ers selling it for $100 more must be sad to lose their auction.
$30 for a crappy game, huh??   Hmmm.... I need some shoes... Shoes it is.

Gigantic creepypasta comic. Do not read if you want to go to bed tonight.

No warning could have prepared me for that (I had my volume a bit high... and because I'm wary of those anyways, I had DVD of Mad Men covering as much of it as I could)..... D:

I am a scaredy cat..

ANIMUS ISLAND?

Sounds... like that was given little thought :(

Beat Ass Creed Revelations.  It was nice continuing the story of Altair, and finishing up with Ezio -- a really gallant end too.  But if you followed the "secret" half of the story, left no real surprises in the "present" timeline.

The defend the den wasn't too bad.  I just didn't bother in the end though. I also respect Ubisoft in how they fix elements that get annoying from subsequent titles (the hook claw is baller, and bombs are awesome).

Surprisingly, I wasn't keen on the "Desmond Chapters", the first person puzzles were just damn frusturating and hardly worth the effort, and the Character on the Animus Island could have and probably should have had a bigger role.

The game is gimmick-y but in all the right ways.  I can't wait for AssCree3~!!  A year away.. D:

I dunno... I think something like "The Sea of Thought" mighta been just as bad.
Hard to describe it other than that...
6839  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Nintendo 3DS Launching at $249.99 on March 27 in the US on: November 18, 2011, 06:25:39 PM
As lame as it is, I like feeling more of "being in the game" with the 3D on.
6840  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Persona 4 anime? on: November 18, 2011, 06:05:31 PM
Yeaaaah.... they hit the fruity-femme side of gay really, really hard.  I think the game tried to pass it off with more class, but I did like Kanji's revelation of liking "cutie stuff". x)

I always wondered what I thought about the relationship with him and Naoto... either a cope out for an actual homosexual relationship or cute because "he" turned out to be a "she".  Ah well.  Bring on next ep.  And the play.  That shit is whack...
