Hey Dice. Talk to me. Forums are so dead at night...

No.  I'm going to bed.  And I hate this forum.
....Sweet dreams, though. :D

I just watched them too -- and for a short series, I thought they tied it up amazingly well.  Evangelion was much more ambiguous and depressing, this left... a sort of bittersweet taste, but certainly scratches at being more sweet.  Other than this, I don't know how you could have ended such a defeating plot concept (where just about everything is there to fuck you over) into the rather swell turnabout.  Most impressive was Madoka finally doing something valuable, she pissed me off most of the rest of the series.   ....Mmmm, pink-jesus-savior.

Went to see a friend who has terminal cancer. They gave him morphine and sent him home, sad stuff...

I'm sorry CDFN.

After something like that, I really have no right to complain about my day at all.  God bless or... y'know.

Whenever I see companies go into a penile competition about graphics it makes me sad.
I'm not against better graphics... but when you take it too far, usually there's little time or money left for anything else.

It depends.  I care about graphics only when it looks like they didn't try or they didn't put in their full 100%.
The new Atelier games remedy this, but you can compare Atelier Rorona to the following 2 titles for this.
Also, if you're going to do a 2D title these days, something more than 3 choppy frames would be nice.  (bad example) The animations for the Tales of Vesperia skits looked like garbage half the time, especially compared to the usually beautifully animated beginnings for the game.
One minor pet peeve is when "opening a door" is reduced to a fade out and a fade in of the character inside after a "door opening" SFX.

Almost a shame that's not a real title, or a Star Ocean 5, the leads look more interesting than what we left off with in the 4th title (and these two new ones didn't even have to say a fucking thing.... wait, maybe that's why it was good).  Damn, I liked it a lot...

I really liked what I saw and I really hope they get busy again soon -- they're pretty goddamn amazing graphically compared to the rut of 2D and shitty moe 3D Japan's smaller companies are in.  And everyone knows I love them for their gameplay, and Im sure I've argued with a few people here about actually defending SO4 (on battle grounds trumping story, something people refuse to do).

Beat it last night -- wonderful plot twists....

~Weismann, the [now] evil blue headed fucker, I kinda saw coming.  His new facial portraits were disturbingly evil looking... he had so many versions for an angry face...
~Joshua's story was a great final reveal, again, you kinda see it coming, but it was definitely in like with that "the game has cliches but dodges their full effect" with interesting dialogue, character interplay, and twists.  Actually, to me, Joshua's final "BS"-bomb was the biggest surprise of all haha.  Poor kid.
~Estelle is the sweetest; I love her character portraits, and her embarrassed one is so cute.  Her actually confessing surprised me, but it buttered up the girl inside of me
~The *final* mission, after the final boss was a cute touch. =P  Olivier was a great character
~Fucking Cassius Bright, clearly the man is a god, no one could accomplish that much!  It made Colonel Richard's reasoning for his evil plot kinda lame, but it definitely opens the plot for something bigger.
~I clocked in at almost 61 hours... I'm ashamed to say that I did graze over a ton of in-town text... a lot of it dragged on, and Joshua and Estelle feel that need for "full introductions" with each new job they do
~I also like how the final chapter loves throwing money at you
~The last dungeon sucked ass, and all previous dungeons didn't get you ready for it...
~I want SC right the fuck now.

Programming the Ai for the creature must be quite a headache.

Thus far it does seem amazing.  And I hate sounding so "duh" but it definitely looks like-like.

I don't know.  I just think it sucks we gotta wait so long -- it's not really promising to future titles that hope to be detailed.

Dice better take another look at the feather detail and stifle herself

Though I'm sure I will go "WOW look at em feathers" when I do play it... in hell!! Sorry... tired.

Thoughts on people who played yesterday?

I think it came out a day late or something.  Canada did anyway, I dunno.

I can really see it both ways, ideally there is a balance of both great story and great battle system in the best RPGS, but there have been plenty of games that totally enthralled me based one element or another.

For instance - I loved Final Fantasy 9's plot, setting, characters, and the fact they simplifed the battle system, but it was just so SLOW with all of the animations, even just for the attack command, that made everything just drag.  The plot kept me glued to my seat for the duration, however.

On the flip side, Resonance of Fate - I LOVED this games battles to no end, and fighting them out & customizing my weaons in that game became my life for awhile- the game plot however is probably the most disorganized lump of crap and nonsense I ever encountered, yet- the game sucked me in for dozens of hours.

The plot for RoF is pretty deep, but unfortunately relies 90% on *you* figuring out the missing puzzle pieces to ID the bigger picture.  They went for a minimalist style, and it was neat to *have* to watch the two opening videos to get the plot, and even talk to NPCs for more.  ... all things considered, as unique and different as it was ...never again.  Weird how Tri-Ace works stories around.

For a game to be in production this long is almost ridiculous. It better look like real-life or something.  Shadow and Ico could be done within 10 hours... 5 years developing on 10 hours..?  I hope it's longer than that...
6867  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What keeps you going everyday? on: April 20, 2011, 01:25:49 AM
Man, that exam must've been rough on you.

For me: I want to achieve more in life, but at my own lazy pace.

Haha, it will be.  T-minus 7 hours.
6868  The Rest / General Discussions / What keeps you going everyday? on: April 20, 2011, 01:17:24 AM
A sort of bleak topic if you, after reading the topic, curl up in a ball, and sob softly..."noothing..."

But what is it that has you wake up and do the same bullshit almost everyday?
6869  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: What's the haps? on: April 20, 2011, 12:40:56 AM
Draw me something!

Alright. Give me some days

The quality of drawing will vary on the quality of game.  I'm sure I saw a Hannah Montana game there somewhere.

EDIT: which reminds.  When it comes to clearly shitty games and movies that you don't need to play to find it is shitty, how the fuck do some many find financing?  How does a programmer feel to know it took a group effort to make it suck?  Sad.

Can you extend any employee discounts to me?

It's about time you bring something to the table in the internet friendship

wtf, if I recall, you sent me a PM, unloaded some pics, and said:

Your turn, bitch!!  Draw me something!

I spend employee discounts on ME.

I can't imagine employee discount making much difference after shipping it over and everything anyhow...
