Breaking Bad SSN 4 Finisher:

I still don't like Skyler.  Mostly her face and anything of her having to do with that douchebag she worked with and boned for pretty stupid reasons.  I get her, I like her business side and sympathized her being the "bitch mom" while Walt took the credit with Jr. and she had to do the "right" thing for the business.  But man... something about her just makes me wanna punch her (I know it's rude, but don't we all have a person to us like that?

Great show.  I'm sad a ZIPPED through it, it makes certain elements seem largely repetitive (WE'RE DONE COOKING..... nvm, TIME TO COOK), I loved Jesse playing "both sides" really well (amazing they wanted his character originally dead by the end of ssn1, glad he stayed in), and Walt still knew how to be funny when he wasn't being serious (c'mon, judging a book by its cover, the man looks like a criminal with the shaved head and beard).  But favorite character of the lot?  Mike's up there, he's cool for an old man... but first prize goes to Hank. :D

I totally sympathize with films when they decide to "leave things out".  Hunger Games already hit 2.5 hours, introducing minor characters like the Mayor's daughter would have probably asked questions from the viewers who hadn't read the book (ie; putting that much screen time for... no one really).

Grim: I didn't find it rushed, but I'm still in the middle of the first book.  But, well, I think that's just one of the unfortunate "side effects" of reading the book first.  It *always* takes longer to read a book and they're much more liberal with details where a movie cannot afford to be.

Oh.  Anyways.
I watched Kelly's Heroes!![/s]
Awesome movie.  The basic plot and the money shot plus wonderful performances made it a lot of fun for a war-based flick.  Movies today love dramatic twist endings, I'm glad this one didn't bother, it was a perfectly pleasing ending where technically even the enemy got away happy.

Looking forward to starting up New Super Mario Brothers 2 tomorrow, despite really not being a fan of the art style. I strangely am intrigued by the focus on coins, especially that one arcade like mode that tasks you with getting high scores in three random levels.

I can't stand how the new mario games look (except galaxy). The music is awful as well.

http://youtu.be/odDwOPNuclM

the "baa--bappp" vocals are ear grating. Also, shit sounds like something my 8th grade music teacher would play on his yamaha.

Mario has really lost a lot of appeal to me for this.  I realize they like that cutesy kids-toy look to Mario, but I adored his Brawl outfit (y'know, where his overalls looked like actual denim...).  Why can't they at least put stitch---... ah fuck it, whatever.

The music is wretched.  Co-workerz were playing Mario Kart 7.... what thefuck was I listening to? Some trumpet, some polka-like beat, brrr....

At least the Mario formula is good, I guess.

I really thought everyone had seen Battle Royale. :P

Battle Royale is better.

I've gotta watch me some Japanese film classics... I guess I get distracted by the one that try to be all anime and then shit happens.

Did you have a problem with the shaky cam? It looked like Michael J Fox was filming it for the action parts.

Stanley Tucci was awesome but I feel that the dress katniss had to wear wasn't sexy enough.

I think the shaky cam was a compromise between the teen readership clashing against the kids killing kids idea (the film was rated PG wasn't it??). The shakiest bit was that first two minutes after the match starts anyways.

I thought the flick was pretty damn good.

EDIT: with WA2, I admire they [did have] a gay character in there... but that was one of the rare cases I thought a "war buddy" story went further than romance.  Heck, I think writers are better with deep friendships than romances 9 out of 10 times anyways, romances are tough (if not contrived, they feel forced or sappy).

Was it even really a romance in the original Japanese version? While I thought it was clear that Brad's feelings were more than just /friendship/ I don't recall it turning into ZOMG MY ONLY SOULMATE 5EVER thing. Fuck I need to finish that game.

Fuck it imma go eat ice cream for breakfast.

I seriously haven't gamed in weeks, and the most I've done all /month/ is just taking out two bosses in FFV in that boss-rush segment around the meteors.

Really confused about what month it is. Recurring dreams about snow.

I'm sure I heard it was pretty romantic... I remember buzz around his storyline for a reason to it anyways. Then again, I don't know how to read Japanese any better than hieroglyphics, so....

I get into that gaming rut too. All I seriously play these days is handhelds.
FF9 I trudge through really slowly (power levelling on the Grand Dragon so the rest of the game goes quick), everything else I do count on being a shorter title.

The "average" reviews have me hanging onto my wallet rather than opening it.  Got a lot on the burner for an ok title.

Read the Destructoid review, which gave it a four. Then read the comments, which pointed out the reviewer played with auto battling on the entire game because they are illiterate and can't read instructions. Take some of the reviews with a grain of salt.

When you have little money to spend, reviews are the best bet you got if considering a splurge (or gameplay vids).  I may get it; I got some crap to trade in, and I've learned to go with games I'm skeptic about, a lot have turned into pleasant surprises (Baten Kaitos, Theatrhythm, Bayonetta, Massy Effecty 2, Fatman Arkham Asy).

AAUUGH.  I crushed my thumb at work.  I feel pressure whenever I use it.  It's not bruised (thank fuck, the idea of a nail coming off scares the shit outta me), but I'm still worried when I got an exam to write soon and gotta write an essay. ;__;

Muv-Luv Alternative - Total Eclipse

Per episode opinion

Episode 1 - Hmmm this could be good
Episode 2 - This rocks
Episode 3 - Wait what?
Episode 4 - Ok, still doesn't seem that bad
Episode 5 - Some guy in search of his inner Japanese with mechs... the heck?
Episode 6 - Oh wait nope... went straight to harem anime with sad excuse of mechs
Episode 7 - Yeah love comedy bla bla bla tsun tsun *drop*

Yikes? xD

Futurama
Near Death Wish

Cute, but I didn't love it as much as reviewers.  The emotional punch is nowhere near as strong as Jurassic Bark (that brought a tear ...or eight...I cried), The Sting, Luck of the Fryrish, and some others.  Meh.  Still sweet, but what I didn't like was the sort of pointless sibling switcheroo (and the thing about night terrors and why Farnsworth's parents were always tired was sort of...ho hum), but it maybe opens up plot for future episodes.

I'm watching a lot of Breaking Bad myself now.  I'll give a more thorough review later; but one thing I can say: I hate Skylar.  She's an ugly, bitchy, soccer mom who does little for the plot besides act as a foil of some sort.
