I looked into it, and to get the true ending, you have to get all the other endings (10 in total). Now to get each ending, you have to complete a certain side mission which I won't get into detail about. Technically, the real ending is just another scene after the regular ending, but again, I like the normal ending, it's very heroic in itself.

Is it just me, or does the term "heroic" have a bad connotation to it nowadays??

ie; it connotes to a "heroic death" more than an act.

That last half hour reaallly tugs at you, huh... =(

Oh dear god, yes...I may have got a little misty eyed at the final scene of the movie.
Yay! Other people who have seen this great movie. I still don't get how this didn't get nominated for Best Picture. It was totally better than at least a few of those movies.
Code:
Isn't it weird how they never really question their place in the world? Sure, they try to extend their time a bit, but no one even tries to run away?
Made me think of the LOTR quote: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given."

Yeah, that's the big talk about the film on forums too.  Why not run away?  They sort of answer some of that in the book I hear, rather they give more depth to the world.

The big argument is that running away wasn't an option nor the point.  It was the futility and the harsh acceptance of a world that is unfair to people (in any general sense, in poverty, or race, or whatever unfortunate circumstance you're born into).  They accepted fate.  Then you deal with point of human greed, where, despite being perfect clones human beings, recipients of organ donations now had the ability to live to well over 100... and as the Headmistress said, "who would give that up?".  The film to me was the harsh reality some poverty-stricken deal with when up against bourgeoisie.  I may have missed the point, but there is some resemblance, no?

EDIT: Just watched it again.  I texted the boyfriend I love him after it haha

Pro tip: Don't let EurAsianGirl make more topics, end of the story.

Seriously, guys?  I'll agree that the topic is kind of dumb (think I said that a while ago, actually...) but the worst nonsense in this thread was not perpetuated by EurAsianGirl.  How about instead of all beating up on her we try to educate her?

Point there. Not that her topics have been particularly great, and it's not like she had the streak of rapid fire nonsense Thoren's created.

I'm actually convinced it's the "new blood" thing (plus a poorly received 1st topic).  If a vet made the topic, we'd get serious answers.
7489  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Worst RPGS on: March 04, 2011, 12:01:11 AM
TL;DR is that this whole goddamn topic is completely retarded and should be locked.

As stupid as some of the choices (and even rationales) are there's really no reason to lock unless it gets too heated.
LOD for its awful battle system and FF8 for its embarrassingly awful story.

Story shouldn't be a qualifier for "worst game" unless it actively impedes your progress or is what the game is built around. FFVIII managed to entertain me in spite of the stupid story, so I don't fault it TOO heavily. As for LoD... man, I haven't played enough of it to form an opinion (running around in a demo years ago maybe?), but seeing the shitstorm on the GIA over this review doesn't engender a very positive impression!

I think the problem is in the topic itself - "worst" imples a helluva lot.  Certainly stuff that's rare to come by, and given waaay to easily to games with at least a few merits.

FF8 as the worst?  It wasn't the best, granted, my main fault with it was some of the music and the battles took to fucken long (or at least the camera work pre- and post-battles).  I do give it credit for (thus taking it away from a "worst" status) fun characters, great environment, battle system [eventually, when your passed the kiddy stuff], and having cinematics that are unrivaled to the rest of the series.  I don't care who you are, that 12 minute ending CG was intense and well done.

Worst implies that you sat down, got kinda comfy, but turned the shit off and threw it away because playing it was worse than hell.  That takes a special breed of game.  I think Laz above has the right idea.  Along with that, people know I hate P3, but it's not the worst to lump here.

More than the choices here, and this is sorta off-topic (but I've been dying to say this a while), I hate the people who complain about a shitty game they're playing, yet they saw through to the end.  Especially RPGs, clear time investments of their own.

This game has a pretty good OST thus far.  It has some of the acoustic songs I said I'd jump 50ft for... (and they are very, very lovely).  My surprising favorite tune: "Damn It"... contains an awesome name, surprisingly fun sound, but doesn't neglect the Sakimoto strings.

Curious about the title... at least more than the 2nd one (a war school?  Thanks Japan, you dug back into everything seen in anime for the millionth time).  I gotta get the 1st one again (traded it x_X)

I like them for the added visuals.  Otherwise gamefaqs is a great resource for a handy ctrl+f feature. :D
Usually if the art is good, and the game is good, I'm in.

Just watched Never Let Me Go and I was just deeply affected by it.  Wow...excellent performances and just a really touching/gut-wrenching story with an interesting message at the end.  It definitely left me pondering life and I haven't seen many movies lately that touched me quite that way.

That last half hour reaallly tugs at you, huh... =(

I've not follow this thread too closely but anyone around here got the Tarot Cards? I really want to get this little extra, but here in Chile there's no store to be found with this bonus thingy.

I guess that I'll better call to one store in the capital to ask why the hell guys are you so lame for not bringing mah awesome tarot cards with art of Akihiko Yoshida?

Seriously, after Vagrant Story this is the best work from Yoshida IMO.

Anyone ever played Eternal Ring or Ever Grace (Two PS2 launch games), extremely underrated but alot of people hate them.  I think they are completely original games.

I looved the music in Evergrace.  Unfortunately, I only rented it (would have loved to press on, was pretty tough too).

Shitty hell.  And I gave my bro my DS for a bit.  For an RPG no less (in other words; 20-30 hours of gameplay spread across weeks).  Maybe I'll make a trade back when I'm done Tales of Eternia and get him Tactics Ogre for PSP or something.

I bet he lends it to his chick and then they break up

I'm almost laugh-y from a comment like that... it's sad.
I like you Yoda, you remembered my misfortune! :D

It pissed me off that they released Eternia and slapped Tales of Destiny II on it.

Tales of Eternia was renamed because "Eternia" is trademarked by Mattel (for the He-Man toys) in North America. Nothing to do with them being retards; just avoiding a lawsuit.

Hmm, never knew that,lol!

I kinda liked it being called Tales of Destiny II... it covered up the hideous symbol behind it.  Some black shit, made it look like Halloween.

Played it and loved it, though I think the translation wasn't as good as the one we got for the first one. Hyde came off as much less of an asshole in this one, though I suppose you can attribute that to Mila mellowing him out a bit. When I heard about the changes they had made to the dialogue (Being able to release certain lines of questioning), I thought it would've been more like having 5 choices, and you have to decide which ones are superfluous, rather than having those situations where you shouldn't choose either of two choices. It would've made for a lot more logic puzzles in the dialogue, which is why I especially loved the
Code:
Frank Raver interrogation
near the end of the game.

Ooo, good call, I loved that ending interrogation, the whole night gave me chills.

This game was everything detective drama/mysteries should be.  It has *ever single element* of one.
Money, abandoned parts, ex-cops, betrayal, some sweetheart, and last but not least, the "unsolved case" that always happens in these.  Despite the stereotypes, I thought it was super well done.

My only gripe with the series is it's focus more on dialogue than puzzles.  Moreover, the focus on daily tasks as the first few puzzles or some other tedious problem, and the actual "mystery puzzles" being saved for later.

I'm so sad CING is gone...
