Can't wait for this...!

Look at this way.  Even despite ..whatever in our favour, it's mainly because the system is *still* largely *not* in our favour.  I get the bit about paying a crime that happened generations ago.  But even when I enter the working system, I'm still likely going to get paid less than whatever men I work with. =/
(but then you have to look at cultural factors, then the whole "mommy" thing that happens down the line where she takes a year off, then jobs that ask for the hours, etc.).

Alisha - if you have to question it, I don't think you are.  I just think you feel strongly about.  Similarly, I'm not a feminist in any critical sense, but I still shake my head and think treatment of women/minorities as unfair.  Actually, I've always been curious of what non-white and non-eastern asians have to say about their minority status even in video games.  Nevertheless, its still lousy to see the stereotyping and typecasting always seen.

Haha - thank you for the input this far!!!  By short I do about half way down the neck (I get it layered after though).  I don't think I can do short, short, short. o_o  Some chicks can.
7489  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: jrpg hate in america. on: March 21, 2011, 01:12:19 AM
Hard to say that without applying it to the West either.  Quite frankly, both cultures seem cozy in the "box" where the video game ideas come from.

It's a tough debate.  But the definite pride in masculinity and femininity I think has another big part into it.  Unless, 2ch has remarks that SquareEnix's latest lead character looks to feminine.

I don't know.  I don't feel like typing, this debate could go on forever and more than I'm willing to talk about at the moment.

Point 1: If you look anything like a [realer] Kyle Hyde or some other handsome fella, I'd do anything in my charming power to ensure you fall for me.  Then I'd brag about the handsome doctor scenario that every girl who watched E.R. dreamed of.  ...actually, I'm not that shallow, but there's always that "fantasy" aspect to a woman's mind.  And yeah, go ahead, let's hear the smut.  I wouldn't have mention a long, thick sausage unless I was trying to do the same haha xP

Well, I'm Asian, so that makes me not look very much like Kyle Hyde.

But I HAVE heard "handsome doctor" directed at me enough in my workplace to think that I'm at least considered the low-end spectrum of that fantasy, as it were.

PICS!!!!!  This forum has me in a bikini-top and shorts somewhere, and I'm left with BW gif of Hyde?!
Asians are perfectly fine in my books.  Hell, so are the women too; I'd go gay for a few of them.  I actually think I'm a white minority at my university as is, I've gotten a liking to a number of the Asians in the halls. =D

Point 2: How so?  I mean, it's not to say society doesn't work fine enough the way it is; if anything I am happy that women do have the status they do in the Westernized world (hell, and only over the course of a few centuries compared to the rest of civilization).
Certain jobs (I've heard accounting is one of them but have not confirmed it yet) lean more towards female applicants than male ones. This isn't even taking into account female-only school scholarships. Think of what would result if they had a male-only scholarship. Hell, even some minority scholarships are this way; I once wanted to apply to a minority scholarship until I read in the fine print that they only included Asian women as applicable.

But this is a discussion for another time.

Heh, I guess since society has benefit men for so long, they're making a double-standard in the scholarship there?
Interesting nonetheless.

Prime Mover's post is the biggest pile of horseshit I've ever had the misfortune of reading. If you haven't read it yet, do yourself a favor and don't.

It's got a few points, but it's way, waaay too generalized.

I think the biggest point in the differences is mostly a matter of culture.  It's a difficult notion to pin down otherwise, especially with the decline of JRPGs in the recent years.
I personally throw it to: tradition (JRPGs are moreso), aesthtics (sometimes over-sized key weapons, and hair that is made up of all sorts of diagonals aren't the best route to appeal to all), themes (WRPGs are more to the point, Japanese like inserting themes and have trouble not hitting cheeseball dialogue as they do it), and yeah, culture.

I think anime itself has been getting a bad rap over the years for it's over-the-top-ness, combining cute and sexy, epic and retardedly ludicrous, and odd balance of cartoon but potentially adult.  Audiences here may have trouble with it, we haven't grown with it the same way the Japanese have.

I've said it before; but I credit FF's constant success in the States part of the fact they diverted from the cartoon-y style that FF7 had and kept it real (which seems to work for audiences here).

Nevertheless, numerous Japanese publishers enjoy a ton of success here too, no?

Sorry, but I won't be helpful.

As a man, I love girls with long hair.
But I can see why you'd love short hair. I keep mine near buzz-cut level all the time because it's easy to maintain and I don't have much dandruff that way =/

I won't be helpful either.  I love guys with a bit of hair to toss around for some reason.  I think kinda like how I see long-blond hair being the "typical way to get beautiful", I see buzzcuts as the easy way to look clean.  Haha, but yeah, I see what you mean with easy management and dandruff (eugh, I get it too; nothing like regular head & shoulder infused with whatever fruity shampoo to take off the edge of "man hair" smell).

Not much else...
Though I can bite down on a full-sized sausage well enough.  I just hate when the ketchup or frosting get's all over my face.  That, and you get those actual, biig, sausages, sometimes they squirt a little bit.  ...in the end I'd rather just take a full bite.

I'd make an inappropriate comment here, but it'd pale in comparison to your ... thing up there. So... you free Friday night? Bow Chika Bow Wow!

I'm not a feminist, but man, I do get blue thinking how much we're passed off for men.  But yeah, like you, it's hard to get into it without a few paragraphs (or ten pages) on the matter.
Honestly there are problems like that that go the opposite way, too.

brilliant...!!!  Annubis, I have a fond respect for your taste.  You've gone +1 in my book of people.

We did a lot of exploring, we only missed two feathers or whatever upgrades health or magic.

It's a fun damn game, and the perfect one to play w/ a friend since while you're playing it's easy to miss out on the graphics

It's hard to miss a lot of that stuff anyway. And yeah, the graphics are amazing. Even if it made the gory stuff gorier.

I loved the soundtrack, it was equally epic.

Back on topic: Random Black Ops multiplayer. Haven't had time for much else.

Some of the gore had me going "EW" and looking away.  Funny how graphics can be "graphic" enough for that - guess the game did a damn good job of making it look good!

The game is pretty cool; I love that genre of hack-n-slash that usually has the player have enough of an arsenal to take out swarms.  It feels good, and it's fun.  GoW3 was brilliantly done anyhow.

Did a whole bunch of Sociology reading.  It's essentially preaching about social stratifications of all sorts... to sum it up: white men are assholes, and women and minorities haven't found a cozy place in society for a long, long time, nor will they anytime soon.  But hey.
White men aren't all assholes, but I could write a ten page paper detailing my thoughts about women and minority rights.

Also, can your lips squish anything other than spaghetti?

Not much else...

ANYWAY

I went out and bought ingredients for the RPGfan cake I plan on making next week.

Make sure you serve the cake with lemon cream pie and "vanilla" frosting.

I don't know what that is a euphemism for, but knowing you it is probably infectious.

It's gonna be a chocolate cake with mint icing that says "RPGfan". I'm going to practice the shield - but that will probably be omitted.

Fact vanilla is better than chocolate. At least it is where I come from.

I agree in terms of ice cream.  I don't know why.  Best part of ice cream though, is the semi-vanilla-soaked cone at the very end, it's only a bit soft, but the flavour of the cone and vanilla is soo nice together.

I ate some spaghetti today; I love squishing to noodles apart with my lips.  Mmmmm foooood~

7498  The Rest / The Helper Monkey / Need opinion, important Q for a girl. on: March 21, 2011, 12:13:08 AM
This is a very important question for a woman to ask... so I appreciate input.  Actually, male and female input would be better (shame females are a minority).

...do I keep long hair or go short???!
I have never been so torn over hair styles.

LONG: it looks good, it's the standard feminine look, I suit it and guys like it!

SHORT: easier to maintain, looks good too, works for summer when I wanna work out (easier to shower sweat off), grows back (eventually)

Is this a vital question?  FYEAH!!  A girl's hair is a part of her LIFE!!!
7499  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Radiant Historia on: March 20, 2011, 12:20:17 PM
Honestly, so many people like aht, but her health is trash. Even with over leveling everyone, she just dies too easy. Raynie is my big magic user, her final weapon has ludicrous magic power.

@Dice, steal more. You get way more equipment than you'd think in the game, and many pieces are way more balanced later. On  Eruca and Aht, they get more magic heavy stuff, but raynie, stocke, and marco all get some nice pieces with a little bit of everything.

Yeah - I've noticed that too.  I hate Aht, she does die too easily, and her traps can be tricky to be helpful (sometimes having someone sacrifice a turn to move enemies in them).  I do credit her ability to deal awesome damage, but sometimes it just *isn't* work it.

A lot of forum people don't like Raynie and Marco - but I usually feel the safest with them.  I loved using Rosch during that Thaumatech battle.  A few level ups and he took care of those self-destructing fuckers in one hit with Gull Swing (which kills an entire row).  Eruca has potential, but I need more skills (a healing one at least) to really dig on her.

Haha...it has very little to do with Final Fantasy.

It's good the same way Alice and Wonderland kinda is: it's bizarre.
Beyond that - the end sucked and the world was fucked up.
