Ass Creed throws too much money at you to begin with.  I did like, even if somewhat pointless, things to spend it on.  And renovation and sort of "owning" parts of the city was kind of cool.  I liked that than none at all.  I do wish you could buy art work again, I love the hideouts but I love the classical references and seeing something other than weaponry at the bases.

I didn't like den defense in that it was a sort-of punishment for doing too many illegal acts (and you're an assassin, it's sort of an occupational hazard), and it got stressful at times too... but it was still an interesting adjunct to the game.  I just didn't like having all my territories in the cities going down one-by-one.  Not worth the effort by then.

Wait til you watch tonight's episode!

Holy fuck!

Haha -- I thought the exact same thing!!

Well timed, Yodes. :P

I also like how Irving was added in with a textless-FMV.  I smell that as a deliberate choice.

Ash... I think we're like the only ones online right now.  A'hyuck

EDIT: Not anymo'.... ;__;

EDIT-TWO:  Speaking of YouTube... anyone watch the trailer for Pixar's Brave?  Rather, anyone watch the trailers for the JAPANESE *AND* NA versions of Brave?  They're pretty different.  US-Brave made me think she was trying to beat-them-boys by being better at man things than the men are.  But Japanese-Brave looks like a video game trailer.

Well, yeah, small nitpick. Just trying to reason it out. What I didn't like about the movie was the fact that the climax wasn't really a climax; the issue was resolved really fast, and without much fanfare.

Ponyo left that same, dull, taste in my mouth for the same reason.

I would like to see Ghibli do something more adult again.  Earthsea doesn't count, I think.

It was called "how not to play" but I'm pretty sure I did circles AT LEAST once every hour....at least.

Only in Australia.  Fishing for a Sword Fish that's instead eaten by Shark.

Well, the Borrowers were established has living in a very simple life, so they can't have possibly borrowed stuff like phones and whatnot, so in that sense it's understandable.

It wasn't a slap on the hand, just a nit pick that threw me off more than "put me off".

Star Ocean 2 [PSP].  I cannot say enough how much I hate the character portraits.  Especially with who Tri-Ace chose to make some for and who they didn't (for example, Mayor Regis at the beginning has an insane amount of dialogue, but no picture... your goddamn Aunt/Innkeeper gets one, and she's, LITERALLY, a generic NPC again in about 2 minutes).  Also, some of them just look creepy... Celine's father came out of the back-end of the Star Trek extras pool, and Mayor Nall is giving a death-glare.  Ah well, nuances.  On the other hand, I like how some actually match the Sprite (think FF6's Celes wearing lavender and green, while her Amano art was some sort of yellow body suit).

On this playthrough ... more than ever... cannot STAND the insane amount of time chilling in Arlia (the prologue taking years to finish up in a true Tri-Ace fashion), Kilik/Kurik, and Mars.

It's just waaay too much dialogue...
...especially for a planet that will be blown up in about 10 more hours of gameplay.  Kurik/Kilik is especially stupid.  Unless you play the PA that lets you meet Filia, that whole segment is a complete waste of time, and adding next to nothing plot-wise.

It's really annoying to think of the amount of inane detail that was put into it for an issue that completely changes gears in the second half of the game.

Fortunately, over the years and with enough playthroughs of the game, I've been able to find out which person to talk to or what place to go exactly to advance the story.  But shheeeesh.

And what the f.  Some enemies are cheap!  Often when they have a 1-frame animation to attack, they can beat you to the punch of an attack because Claude's is 2-frames. >=(

There are actually quite a few places in Japan (and Asia, in general) that look like that.

Well, I sort of waved it off given the fact it was an older woman's house with an, I guess, preference for more antique furniture and wares.  I still found the time it takes place unsettling given the rest of the story (and like I said with Spiller's scenario, too).

Holy crap, Tun, way to just catch up on all things Avengers. x)
Do you have a tiny urge to save people in need?? :O

Secret World of Arietty
I love a lot, but some of the faults bugged me.

+ OST was probably my fav of the Ghibli flicks... funny enough, not done by their usual composer.
+ Liked the matching themes of "surviving" Borrowers and Shu's [?] operation, both giving each other the courage to face what's coming blah blah blah...
+ Details like "pouring tea" from a Borrower's side simply meant large drops rather than streams -- little things like this are great
+ The attention to detail and the general way of life of Borrowers, where tiny objects are used by the Borrowers as full-size house decor, and did so almost seamlessly.
+ Spiller was great (did I read the credits right? Did he have to VAs? [UK ver.])
+ One of the items in Shu's grandma's house is called "Pot".  Go granny!
+ Saying it now, Arietty has to be the prettiest Ghibli leading lady.
+ Loved how they played with size in this movie, between Arietty using earrings to scale a window, to a giant Shu appearing only in body as though his head was too much to fit in.
+ Very pleasant movie for the most part.  It lacks that punch that Mononoke left, but still lovely (best word for it, really) in its own right.

- Could have been longer.  Hard to explain this, but I hate when a movie goes from the beginning to setting up the ending problem so quickly, especially since this was a concept that would be easy and fun to play with.  I thought they could have added more between Arietty and Shu.  Some scenes tend to run on is what's worse, definitely some time that could have been spent better.
- Ghibli's method of drawing style is bothering me lately.  Aside from an odd fixation they have with drawing Old Women since Spirited Away (then making a carbon copy of Yubaba with Howl's Moving Castle), but their method of shading "brights" on objects is very.... oblong and circled-off.  It makes too many objects look round when they're fine, or "jelly-like" when they're hard.
- Apparently it takes place in 2010... in Japan.  I got the vibe of neither most of the time (I guess watching the UK dub didn't help).  Also watching Borrowers traipsing around with very...early 1900s-looking clothing and furniture felt so removed from anything that was supposed to represent contemporary "Japan".  Then Spiller comes in looking like a damned Neanderthal....

Question-related bump!

So, I'm about 9-10 hours in, but really not enjoying it. I don't like the characters, the story seems pretty average so far and I hate how often the game throws foreign terms at you and then doesn't explain what they are. Does it improve a lot? 'Cause I'm approaching the point of selling it off.

The techno-babble persists. But the story does get better.  It starts as a pretty slow political thanger (have you gotten passed Akzeriuth?) but gets pretty deep later on.  For a story-focused RPG, I thought Tales out-did themselves here.  Particularly with the role Ion plays in it.

Teddy is the only one who should be allowed to dance like that.
You no like trashcan Yosuke dance?

Chie had the stupidest dance.
Kanji the worst animated.

I think I would have liked the dance more if it was better animated as a whole... but it's pretty bare bones, and the character dancing to much like sticks without really good fluid dancing moves.

Russia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WKNRGc71hjc

Yeah, Russia is a fucking weird one. 6 old Russian ladies singing badly and dancing while baking bread. ITS MAGICAL.

That was amazing.
It's even better when they show that one judge who's probably waiting to shoot himself when this is over.

I saw quite a few similar faces in the audience. No one quiet knows how to take it :P

Those are some trendyass old ladies!!  haha -- ohh Russia.  Never cease to do the most bizarre.

I'll watch some of the entries.  Particularly Romania to put out the next big thing we'll hear in clubs.

I wanna play Infamous (or as I like to say, "In-fa-moose") because its pretty damn cheap these days.  I think next price drop I'll just go for both.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana -- is it just me or are women's portraits drawn better than the men's?  Great game nonetheless.

Thinking of what to play as a handheld next... the Zelda Oracle series is looking miiiighty appealing.

If this comes out before Versus 13, I will be pissed.

If this comes out before Versus 13, I wouldn't be surprised.
