No especially after all this time when you can take away any wow factor you felt back then w/ the graphics the dialog and general writing is terrible.

I fucking love the music though. At times it rivals the nostalgic rpg boner I have for FFIV

RPG boner eh...

Sweet Jesus, I forgot to consider that when "UMD-only" was mentioned - are they trying to piss people off or is it a matter of space??  Shame the PSP go looks and works all fancy...what a waste of so little can be played though..

I wonder. Having it on PSN means more potential ways for people to buy the game (and more revenue for Sony), so it's good from a publishing and console manufacturing standpoint.

However, it's not good for retailers, who were none too pleased about the PSPGo in the first place. They saw it as a sly attempt by Sony to cut them out. In that sense, I do wonder if publishers are making some key releases UMD-only to pacify retail and get shelf space (either for those specific games or for lower echelon ones that a retailer could live without). Until digital distribution overtakes brick-and-mortar, retailers will continue to have the upper hand.

That's actually an interesting point; especially now that game retailers are in a sort of new height this gaming generation (See Eusis? I didn't call it NEXT GEN!!) only to be brought down by downloading titles.  I don't think, economically, or buyer and seller, it's gonna stop.  But I guess 3rdBday steers away from that.

I thought most of settled that the Go was a vanity project anyhow.

The menu-screen stats at the end of this video made me "LOL".

The attack "Mondays" being the single coolest thing ever.

My furaffinity* avatar comes from one of those lasagna cat things. The way down yonder on the chatahoochee one with the toast. The specific screencap is where John is making a really weird face.

If yoda were a video game stat we'd all be trapped in a game of FATAL that would not end.

I have no idea what you're talking about furries ....about..... say wha.

Noam Chomsky is a douchebag.

That is all.

A bit of a boring one at that.  He's okay, he's a smart fella with an obvious bias, but hey..

plus everything except the writing and numerous cut-scenes is fun as hell.

FFX's battle system is like one of my favorite battle system's from Square/in RPGs in general. I would've loved seeing it in a game with, say, a less obnoxious narrative.

And then they never fucking used it again.

Ever.

Honestly, I agree.  I think the game is generally "fucken awesome" aside from the god awful, and awkward cutscenes.  The chemistry was ruined on parts of it at the best of times.  The setting was amazing, music astounding (Uematsu being the worst of the 3 IMO, Hamazu shining), the battles quick and engaging, and the story was pretty damn good... aside from fucking Tidus giving us the quality narrative of a misplaced brat.  I actually thought the more stoic Star Ocean 2 hit the aspect of loneliness and the idea of being a "foreigner" better than FFX did.

I exaggerated this post a bit, but some scenes were just embarassing to listen to with volume up.

I can't even imagine what or why...

I'm glad you didn't post another gif... I really didn't want to show how deep my star trek gif collection goes just yet.

The epitome of my Star Trek geekiness ends with how much I love Q.

I haven't seen that in forever... thanks for reminding me how awesome that is.

Between the nice use of rpg music, the spell and attack names, and the great jabs at Jim Davis this is great on so many levels. I like when they try and check his skills but he doesn't have any.

What's the music they use in the town again?

Haha it's the overworld theme for the second half of FF6.

I love Jim Davis ridiculously high yet stupidly low stats.  What a bizarre mashup, and I feel like someone stabs me like that on mondays...

If Yoda were a video game stat, he'd have high charisma and high HP (since all guys do...sexist video game stats!!!!)

I like several of Sakuraba's older works, mainly Valkyrie Profile, and Baten Kaitos, but after Eternal Sonata, even the same ol got to me. Yes, it can apply to any composers, but his feel much more samey than the others who either differentiate things a little (like Meguro) or always make it interesting (the Ys composers, JDK Band). To each their own.

....goddamit, why do I find everything in the SMT series, even Meguro pretty average (besides the art work)?!?!?  A few of Meguro's tracks are without a doubt amazing, but a lot of the bragged-about tracks do nothing for me haha (Particularly a number of battle themes...that, and P3 had the most depressing "victory" theme ever.)

As far as I know - it's not meant to be a simple lasso job, hair is way too complicated and "fine" in that regard.  For thinner bits, may be a good idea to use a tiny brush and an eraser to fix up the rest.

Sakuraba is not really a bad composer, is just that he never takes vacations. I still remember when all of those JRPGs for the 360 were being released, allmost all of them have the involvement of him in the music.

The only memorable being the one from Infinite Undiscovery.

Recently though, he did a good track for the "Dariusburst Remix Wonder World", the track is called "The Battle is Now in Progress".

Ooo I got that one on my iPod.

Can't say a little break helped the revered Uematsu.

I don't know... I hate the arguments of "it sounds too much like everything else they composed" bit when that argument can pretty much apply to any game composer with their personal styling.  Worst recent offender has to be Sakimoto = War.
People did actually seem happy to know Sakuraba was composing for Eternal Sonata, his work goes well with a kind of "classical" method of VG music.

One thing me, and a lot of the Tales community would kill to see is the return of Go Shiina (a la Legendia)

Thanks!

I'm bored and daydreaming about hanging out with starmongoose and dice. Browsing used videogame shops, drinking beers, smoking fatties, playing crazy games, and eating chocolate covered delicacies.

I'M COMING YOOODAAA

The games title makes me chuckle a bit.
