7741  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Super RPGFan Game Journal IV - The New Warriors: The Revenge The Movie The Game on: February 15, 2011, 12:59:12 AM
Beat SO The Last Hope Int'l in around 45 hours. Sure, the cutscenes were a bit too long (especially towards the end), the voice acting uneven (some VAs were really good, though, for instance Commander Kenny's) and Edge way too emo, but I had tons of fun. I think as far as real time battle systems go SO is second to none. The dungeons were pretty cool too (for the most part) and the item creation system fun and much more accessible than in S03, although admittedly some of the ingredients seemed hard to find. It didn't really matter anyway, since on the Galaxy difficulty setting I had no problems beating the game with the gear I bought in stores or found in the dungeons; I imagine item creation becomes much more important on higher difficulty levels and/or in post-game dungeons.

Now playing Wild Arms 3 and Ghost Trick, and enjoying both so far.

OMG SUPERSONIC (gimme gin and tonic), I love you - playing all games I love, I want to be your friend and platonically rape you a bit, probably dry-hump.

I haven't played a thing lately - I'm trying to get into Baten Kaitos again but school drags me from it.... fucken horrible voice acting and the SFX are an earsore.... but I love everything....everything else... =)

Trying to fit SO2 in.... I'm at the boring Front Lines place or whatever.... to much shitty pointless dialogue and I just want Claude to flash some brain to shut Rena up (because that would work????  ??)

I agree with the FFX minigames of hell....

By the end I was reasoning with which characters I used the most, and which were worth the effort to get the best weapons since it involved some tedious task.  The choco minigame sucked by the end, dodgining lightning was seriously retarded....

Tales, particularly Abyss and maybe Vesperia.
Legendia is mostly just mazes instead of puzzles, although it had optional puzzles (not side quests) occasionally.

I think earlier Tales apply better, like Mesh is on with - pretty much Symphonia and earlier applies.  Vesperia was relatively linear...

I think manga's go relatively like this... i dunno anymore...

I don't know... not everyday you see a hawk swoop down and off with a cat.  We got raccoons here, the messy bastards.  Hawks are slightly more majestic at least.  I do feel for the cat though....

The ugly:  It's too muddy to see, but I'm pretty sure a hawk killed my neighbor's cat.  I'm really hoping it wasn't my neighbors cat because he was a pretty cool cat.  Might have been a stray.

I mean no offense, so I do hope it is a stray - but that would have been amazing to see....

That does sound like a lot of fun. It also sounds like torture to do with a movie so long @_@.

I watched Millenium Actress and it was freaking amazing. The only movie I haven't seen of Kon's now is Perfect Blue, but that will be coming soon. The man sure was a genius.

I looooved Milennium Actress - makes me reallly sad Kon is gone (rhyme unintentional).  MA's bitter sweet ending was nothing short of admirable and great, I like how far the heroine went for the one fella, a case of true love at first sight.  Magnetic Rose (a la 'Memories') was the first thing of his I saw, I think my jaw was hanging from my mouth by the end - but he's always had that effect with me.

Is that a fucking Mac/

I'm going to say yes proudly.  For my work - it's perfect.  For eroge games, Thoren, I'd use a Windows PC....
Though they are overpriced - my PC is a slow shitbox right now because of the little viruses crawling on it.

I don't get the last post.

Mesh fluctuates between pure gold (my sig) and these...

I hated that Chris sidequest... sometimes it activated and sometime it didnt, and sometimes I still got Celine's alone-only PA

Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

I've now looked into some of the games I didn't know about, and some of the games definately seem like games I would enjoy. E.g. Kingdom Hearts 2, Ultima 7 and Brave Fencer Musashi.

.... hehe Ultima?
And how is KH2 a puzzler?????
He asked for Puzzles or Subgames. KH2 has plenty of mini-games throught, and iirc, the Between Worlds Shooting sections is a game all unto itself.

Ah...true...tru....
The subgames got out of hand eventually though, almost everything was one and battles turned to gimmicks...
Otherwise, Kudos to the series for only getting better...ish.  Fucken re:coded. BRRR.

My vote is gonna have to go with the Wild Arms series for being a series that genuinely lends itself to the puzzle-genre.
Hell, battles even became a test of "puzzling-tactics" (the Prophets in WA3 each having a method needed to beat them).  Still, I miss these puzzles games, and no title made me miss it more than FF13 (let's just add another hit on it).

I want the bust of Duke beside my bust of Mozart.

Ultima 7 is like nothing but puzzles. Although they're more conversational puzzles except for the ones where you blow shit up.

No kidding...  I'm still more fixated on what Ultima was like back in the SNES days.... good ol' Lord British.

I loved Suiko 4's.  Nice blend of game-meets-suiko-meets-tropical.
