7741  Media / Anime, TV, and Movies / Re: Recently watched Episodes of TELEVISION BOX offerings! on: May 05, 2012, 02:44:03 PM
The Office really needs to be put to sleep.  I still love the the first several seasons and always will, but this one isn't even registering as a "season proper", just a sort of "side story".  Why they made Andy a Manager to begin with, when he's not really too likeable a character to begin with (remember him back in Ssn3???) is beyond me.  Other members of the office deserve more screen time... which?  All.  I'd love more Creed.  And as stupid as the character is, Kelly is great for how backwards her thinking can be ("Princess Diana's funeral was like the saddest ever.... that and my sisters" -- Gold).

30 Rock was awesome this week.  The "live" episode was cute, but took too many liberties that kinda fell flat; and the guest appearances for the sake of guest appearances felt like a cheap ploy at making a "good episode".  I loved them spoofing Real Housewives or whatever shit like that using the sort of sassy black act was great, I missed Tracey Jordan's wife.

I watched Vampire Diaries.  That fucking show is everywhere these days.  And while its good, it loves to use its characters to have just about EVERYTHING happen to them.  Alaric... hmm.  Cool teacher, moonlight vampire killer, love lost, love found, love lost again, low key, Dr Jeckyl-Hide killer?!?!?  What the fuck next...

Community.  Not as good as last weeks.  Kinda sad Star Burns might be out, and weird way to end an episode.  Curious what they're planning with that.

Legend of Korra.  Fucking fantastic show.  Really love-triangle-y this week, but the humour balanced it out really well.  Top marks, and easily getting the "best episode of shit I watched this week" award.  Something about Bolin reminds me of an old school Rumiko Takahashi character.  Over-exaggerated, but damned hilarious.

I'm not too excited to see it, given that Thor was so-so, Hulk struck out twice, Captain America was a one-time go, and Iron Man 2 suffered sequelitis.  But I'm glad to see the praise.  I was supposed to see it with comic nerd, but shit ain't working.  So me and the boyfriend...when the goddamn lineups get smaller.

Eugh.  Metropolis is kinda...hard to love.  It started too sweet for the sort of grotesque ending of Tima[?].

Akira works here I suppose.  Shame my list stops there and at GitS.

...um, Patlabor?

I'm so sleepy today and lately.  I find it helps when I go the gym and actually adhere to a more normal sleep schedule.  The only plus has been actually spending time drawing.  I spent my first week on holidays gaming... just to feel "on holidays", I love being a vegetable a bit.  I still did chores and took pooch out n all though.

I took a shift tomorrow-- thank fuck, homeless people only have no money, while I gotta get back to "black numbers" than red.  My folks just paid my Summer Schoolin since hours have been cut back so much.  Stupid fucking boss hired a new girl when there are barely shifts to even give out.  I was so upset. It's been tense at home though since my folks paid my school, and we really don't have much to spare like that.  I feel so bad.

Final Fantasy IX:  wth.  Why is it between Dali and heading to Brumecia (the two points you walk around the world map) the difficulty in normal battles freaking sky rockets?????? :O
I got Quina, trying to get her some Blue Magic (hooly crap, Might Guard is available so early!!!), and doing Chocoglyphs.  Stupid addictive hot-cold game.

I'm a big fan of the humour in Azumanga Daioh.  But I'd keep with the manga on that.

Jesus christ. I would love to do PAX someday. I missed Boston earlier this year. If I renew the lease on my apt., I'll definitely hit it up.

Being Canadian and poor... I usually just nix the idea of seeing a gaming convention in the States and hope a lame booth at the Toronto Expo is set up. :P

Remember how in FF13-Poo people would always comment on you riding a Chocobo??
I guess I would too?.  Don't see a wild ostrich with traffic every day...

I found the series too slow, disjointed, lack of any really good bond between characters, and the action occasionally being cool, I just didn't find it clever to make up for the pace.  I may give it a go again, but it just didn't strike.  Which, again, surprises me because I like "things like that".  But by god, I love the opening.

Do a lot of companies just translate and send the translation back like that??  Never heard of that one.

Lack of resources...how???

I can't say I'm too-too surprised.  I mean, last word I heard of it was it's announcement I think.

Thanks for sticking up for me, D.  Thanks for being Goosey, Starry.

I [re]watched Gran Torino.  The movie is riddled with some pretty horrible acting.... and quite a lot of racial stuff (nothing too, too bad).  BUT, the greater message and story really shine.  It's a simple and done-before plot, but still strong and largely entertaining and heart-felt.  Clint Eastwood... I love you.

EDIT:  Watched American Pie 4;  A.K.A. American Reunion.  Jim and Finch haven't aged a day, but it was great that really the entire cast got back for this (thanks to $$$$ probably).  Really great flick, filled with its penis/titty/sex antics, some shocking stuff, and some of Stiffler being a dick.

I'm sad Kev and Viki didn't get back together; mostly because they painted Kev's marriage as... not exactly being the best.  Rather him and her than Oz and the Giant Forehead whatever Meena Suvari's character's name is.  Anyways, best part was seeing how happy Stiffler was to meet Finch's mom, and my god, for an older woman she was a BOMBSHELL.  But revenge was sweet.

There's a YouTuber who played through it, subs and everything.  It is freaky, but it's definitely funky.  I could see it being passed up.

A pooch fetches a ball to find his master home from deployment (I'm guessing its been a while -- I've never see a pooch react like that!).

Naw, sorry it came out that way, but it wasn't. D:
