Ring of Fates had a somewhat interesting story and the A.I. companions were...serviceable, if annoying. (Why did they both need annoying verbal tics?) Echoes of Time had much dumber A.I., I guess because they didn't have personalities to inspire the A.I. behavior, and the other two CC games are a town sim and a tower defense game, so it's kind of a moot point for those. Although the adventurers can be really stupid in My Life as a King since they can seriously wander around town all day, every day, buying random equipment and then running out of time to actually visit the dungeons.

Jude is an interesting case. For most of the game he's really idealistic and then
Code:
his mom dies right in front of him, basically breaking him for the rest of the story.

Wild Arms 4 really needed polish. Whoever came up with the characters and the world knew what they were doing, but the writing was so amateurish that it was really hard to take seriously. And then they hired a novelist to help write Wild Arms 5 which eventually devolved into "Racism is bad, right guys?" and the weird
Code:
timeloop ending that seemed to be designed to prevent a happily ever after
for no apparent reason.

To be honest, WA4 had one of the better endings.
It was a surprising mix of depressing and optimistic. Raquel was probably one of the high points of the game's story. A fully clothed, no nonsense powerhouse with some human weakness and mortality thrown in the mix.
Code:
The fact that by the end of the game there was no miracle cure for her illness and how her story ultimately ends was bitter sweet, but fitting

Honestly, the fact that Raquel
Code:
basically had cancer
was the most surprising part to me.

The problem with Wild Arms 2 is mostly the crappy translation. It's...below par most of the time, but it absolutely breaks when Liz and Ard show up.

I hate that it's so fucking anime it hurts.  Not that the other titles were less anime, but this one really goes for the Shonen Anime feel that I want to punch Dean in the face in almost every cutscene he's in.

Honestly, Dean is dumb by shonen anime standards. He takes the idea of the idiot hero to new and amazing heights. And most people want to smack him at least once while playing the game.

Looking at the openings for the Ar Tonelico trilogy, I noticed something interesting in the translations. All three have a bit at the beginning where they reference separating the listener from one world and showing them another. Did they have the idea for the meta stuff all the way back there? Ar Tonelico Qoga even has a program command line at the beginning.

I remember hearing that the infodump was actually added in the translated version. If that's true, it's at least better than not having most of the plot explained.

Minor spoilers (Not entirely sure how to spoiler block on this forum.)

Well, I just beat the game and I got the Ion/Earthes True Ending. I want more! This game was amazing. Yeah, it was obviously low budget and there were romanization issues, but if the story of Ar Tonelico II could shine through that awful translation, this game just needs some polishing.

Oh, and the song Ra Ciel Reincarnation is one of the most gorgeous things I have ever heard.

I hope more of the EXA_PICO universe is planned.

Well, I haven't finished the game yet, but I have completed Ion's Genometrics. One of the options you have when she asks why you put so much effort in is "I'm a completionist." I didn't pick it, but I'm a little curious about what her reaction to it was.

As a women I was kinda glad the game paired me up with Ion instead of a character like Cass. Maybe it's because I have a soft spot for smart sweethearts, but I thought she was pleasant to be around. Good taste in entertainment too. If I could weave whatever song magic I liked, I sure as hell would have chosen a big mechanical dragon as well!

Yeah, Ion is just likeable. And she's kind of unique. She's a gadgeteer genius, but she's also really nice and wants to help people. The reason she keeps insisting there's another way to solve things is also pretty good instead of just making her an idiot. She was asleep for most of the events on the Soleil, so of course her biases would be really different from the other characters.

When I play Xeno 2 I do that thing where you level the crap out of Shion on the Dammerung. It gets the battle system to the point where it's not easy, so to speak, but it's a lot less annoying.

So far I'm enjoying this game. It is a little strange that there's a little dance number every time you synthesize and item (totally serious about that), but I'm hooked.

I like Rogue Galaxy, but it's mostly the aesthetic. Treasure Planet is one of my favorite movies and anything that reminds me of it gets my attention.

I am way too satisfied by spectacle. All the stuff around the gate to Eden was incredible to look at.

Also, this gorgeous song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9JkD0zt1ts

Well, they don't have to dub it. Most visual novels aren't. I'd be okay with Ciel nosurge not being dubbed, especially since Ar nosurge has a Japanese voice option.

There is one thing that makes a localization marginally more likely. Presumably Atlus could take an interest in it, since they're owned by Sega now.
