From Software made it. It's called Dark Souls and it's the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls.

Yeah, the Dynasty Warriors engine is more designed for a ton of enemies than anything.

I agree. For example, the first two Xenosaga games had good ideas in their battle systems but the first game was so slow and the second game was so clunky that it hurt the game. The third game figured out how to have the critical elements of the first two battle systems and made it fast-paced.

Atlus is really good at tweaking turn-based systems though. I find that the ATB system can be really annoying at times when the speed ratings are really out of whack, and if it isn't completely barebones, a turn-based system can be really good.

Remember, Final Fantasy X's battle system got completely ripped off by that Lord of the Rings RPG, The Third Age. It had to be doing something right.

Look at GOG.com. They have a ton of older PC rpgs that are altered to work on modern computers, complete with no DRM. And they are legitimate. The company behind it are the creators of the Witcher series.

The load times seem to be coded in. The music actually fades out between screens which is utterly baffling.

If you want to play a Lunar game and you can't get your hands on the PS1 version, there are worse games, but it's not the best port.

It's one of those things where if I had to choose between having the mediocre remake or not at all, I'd go for the remake. But Hearts is the one I really want to try.

I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I got my hands on the DemiKids GBA titles and I'm doing a liveblog of them over here:

As far as I can tell, the games are kind of rare and they're possibly the only games labelled with Shin Megami Tensei in Japan, but not in North America.

They're mislabeled. The one labelled emulator has much better textures and the details look different which wouldn't happen with an HD emulated version of the original.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster confirmed for Western release.

It apparently has a price point of 40$.

Funimation has it as part of its S.A.V.E. line if anyone's interested.

Riviera's whole system was kind of annoying. It was really obvious that it was St!ng's first attempt at that deconstructionist gameplay thing.

Persona 3 kind of turns into a slog because of the sparsity of story sections. Atlus set out to make a variation on the rogue-like (at least that's what it seems like to me) and they included the really spaced out story.
164  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Screw announcements, let's just release the game (Atelier Totori Plus) on: March 21, 2013, 04:58:35 PM
I started with Meruru and it's one of my favourite games now. The game explains who the characters are well enough (except Totori) as we meet them at the same time as Meruru. Totori isn't that bad either in that case, as she's Meruru's friend and teacher.

I don't really mind either way, but I hope the story has more substance than 3. I liked the story in 3, there just wasn't all that much of it.
